Chapter 195: Chapter 195: Garp: What’s with This Bald Guy? Did Mouse Lie to Me?
Chapter 195: Garp: What's with This Bald Guy? Did Mouse Lie to Me?
"Have you heard? There's a newcomer who mastered Soru, Geppo, and Rankyaku after just one look!"
"I've already heard. That newcomer's a monster!"
"That's not all! I saw with my own eyes how powerful his Six Powers were. Even Geppo, which drains a lot of stamina, he can keep using continuously—it's terrifying."
"Hey, hey, are you guys serious? Is there really a newcomer like that?"
"Why would I lie to you? Plenty of people saw it, and the news has spread everywhere."
By that evening, news of this monstrous newcomer had spread throughout the entire training camp.
And by nightfall, even the Marine high-ranking officers were aware.
However, the senior officers reacted rather indifferently, not nearly as shocked as the recruits.
After all, they were experts themselves and knew that the Marine Six Powers were merely fundamental techniques for beginners to master.
True experts trained in Haki, enhanced their strength, and honed their unique abilities—these were what truly made them formidable.
At that moment, Koby was in Garp's office, giving a detailed report on the day's events.
"Teacher Garp, the newcomer you brought in today is incredible… He learned three of the Marine Six Powers just by watching them once, and he uses them even better than I can… Teacher, are you sure they're really newcomers?"
"Oh! Not bad!"
Garp responded lazily, giving only a casual evaluation, then added, "Seems like Mouse wasn't lying."
As it turned out, he had sent Koby to teach Chen Ye and Qin Muyin partly as a test.
"Teacher, are these two newcomers connected to Vice Admiral Mouse?" Koby asked curiously.
Garp waved his hand dismissively, not addressing the question directly. Instead, he asked, "Koby, anything else?"
Noticing Garp's tone, Koby, sensing he was being dismissed, quickly said, "Yes! The newcomers asked me to relay a message—they want to learn Haki!"
"Oh? Eager to learn Haki already? Quite ambitious!"
Garp chuckled, then instructed, "First, teach them the Marine regulations. Also, let them know that I'll come to personally train them in ten days."
Koby, puzzled, asked, "Teacher, why wait ten days? They could memorize the regulations in two or three days."
Garp, of course, wouldn't reveal that this was his way of tempering the newcomers' patience.
He simply waved his hand and said, "Just follow my instructions."
"Yes, Teacher!"
Koby straightened, saluted, and left without further questions.
Ten days later, Garp arrived at the training camp, ready to train Chen Ye and Qin Muyin.
The soldiers in the camp weren't surprised by Garp's arrival.
After all, that bald newcomer was absurdly strong!
Only a top-tier fighter like Garp could guide him properly.
As for the woman…
Although she hadn't shown any particular skills in the past ten days, the fact that she was with him likely meant she was a monster in her own right.
When Chen Ye approached Garp, Garp couldn't help but glance curiously at Qin Muyin, who stood off to the side.
"Young lady, aren't you coming over to learn Haki as well?"
Qin Muyin shook her head. "No need. I have my own training methods."
In the past ten days, Qin Muyin had familiarized herself with the world of pirates and learned about Haki's purpose.
Armament Haki could enhance one's defense, but it was challenging to train and required a strong physique, which Qin Muyin lacked.
For her, building up physical strength from scratch was less practical than continuing to develop her mental power.
Telekinesis was her true strength.
As for Observation Haki, Qin Muyin didn't need it.
With her sharp vision and hearing, no movement around her could escape her perception; she already had a level of awareness comparable to advanced Observation Haki.
As for the high-level Observation Haki that allowed users to "predict the future," Qin Muyin wasn't interested either.
She had her "foresight of danger" ability, which already provided her with a sense akin to future sight.
Moreover, training Observation Haki to that level was exceptionally difficult.
And as for Conqueror's Haki?
While powerful, it was something that had to be awakened on one's own and required a commanding presence.
This was too vague a criterion; no one could confidently say they'd be able to grasp it.
Hearing Qin Muyin's refusal, Garp was somewhat taken aback.
But he wasn't one to force anyone (not even his own son, who was a revolutionary leader). Since Qin Muyin wasn't interested in learning, Garp didn't press the matter.
Then, Garp turned his attention to Chen Ye.
"So, you want to learn Haki?"
"Yes!" Chen Ye nodded.
Garp said honestly, "The only Haki I can teach you is Armament Haki. Observation and Conqueror's Haki have to be self-realized; I can't help you with those."
"That's more than enough," Chen Ye replied, as his main goal was to learn Armament Haki.
Garp suddenly grinned and said, "Kid, to learn Armament Haki, you need a powerful physique. Are you ready for that?"
Chen Ye countered, "I'm not sure what level would be considered ready."
Garp extended his hand, "Use all your strength and give me a handshake!"
Chen Ye smiled, extended his hand, and grasped Garp's.
Both exerted their strength simultaneously!
"Creak—"
Immediately, the friction between their hands produced a bone-chilling sound, a testament to the intense pressure generated by their immense power.
The next moment—
"Crack!"
The ground beneath them split in a large radius, with the cracks radiating outward from where they stood, as though two mountains were colliding.
The spectators around them were startled and quickly backed away.
"Hmm?"
Garp's expression turned to one of surprise, his eyes suddenly becoming sharp and focused.
He hadn't expected this bald kid to possess such incredible physical strength.
That brat Mouse… if it weren't for his own strength, he might have been fooled!
According to Vice Admiral Mouse's report, the girl supposedly met the standard for admiral-level strength, while this bald one had "vice admiral-level strength with immense potential."
What nonsense!
Was this the level of strength a vice admiral should have?
On the other side, Chen Ye's expression also changed.
He could feel that the old man's grip was like the hardest diamond—his own strength couldn't budge it at all.
Furthermore, a relentless, unyielding pressure emanated from Garp's hand, locking his right hand firmly in place.
Since gaining Saitama's physical prowess, this was the first time Chen Ye had encountered someone who could match his strength.
But…
He recalled from manga he'd read back on Earth how Vice Admiral Garp had once thrown a punch powerful enough to nearly destroy a small town…
And how he could hurl massive iron balls weighing several tons with ease…
Given these feats, it made sense that Garp was also a strength-type fighter.
Taking a deep breath, Chen Ye unleashed his full power!
"Boom!"
The surrounding space seemed to tremble.
The ground beneath Chen Ye's feet sank into a deep indentation as his feet instinctively gripped the earth under the force of his power.
Garp's face immediately changed, watching Chen Ye with astonishment.
"Buzz!"
A strange sound echoed as Garp's fist suddenly turned black, taking on a metallic sheen, as if coated in black iron.
This was Armament Haki!
The old man had been pushed to his limits, and even had to activate his Armament Haki…
