I Can See Through Everything

Chapter 314

"I didn't expect such powerful strange beasts to appear outside. It seems that since the Spiritual Qi revival, the changes in the world are happening faster than we anticipated," the old doctor said, his expression somewhat grave.

"Indeed, and according to what those two uncles just said, those two strange beasts clearly possess significant intelligence, not inferior to that of ordinary humans," Lu Qing added.

"We don't know how many such strange beasts have already appeared in the world, or how many of them are benevolent," the old doctor said with some concern.

He had also heard about the white wolf incident mentioned by that merchant earlier. Driving a pack of wolves to attack a city, it was evident that the white wolf was not friendly to humans. If these newly awakened intelligent strange beasts all harbored hostility towards humans, then the days ahead for the people of the world would be tough.

"The trend is inevitable; the forces of the world are bound to undergo changes. In the ancient era of cultivation, humans were not the only dominant species; there were other races as well. So, Master, this is the way of the world; there's no need to worry too much," Lu Qing said, trying to comfort his master after noticing his concern.

"Yes, I understand," the old doctor nodded.

In the past two days, he had reviewed the jade slip recorded by Lu Qing and learned a lot about the ancient era of cultivation. He understood that with the revival of Spiritual Qi, the awakening of strange beasts and the resurgence of various races were also inevitable, aligning with the will of Heaven.

"The city gate is opening!"

At that moment, someone shouted.

They saw a person on top of the city gate waving a yellow flag. It was the signal that the gate was about to open, and the crowd of merchants and people waiting outside began to move, lining up in an orderly manner. Lu Qing and his companions also led their carriage to the back of a merchant caravan.

Just as the people outside had finished lining up, a commotion was heard from the city gate. The two massive doors began to slowly open to the sides.

"Sister Hu, you’re about to go home!" Xiao Yan exclaimed happily to Hu Zezhi.

"Yes," Hu Zezhi nodded slightly, her expression somewhat complex—both joyful and apprehensive.

With the loud creaking sound, under the watchful eyes of the crowd, the city gate finally opened fully. First, numerous merchants and travelers poured out from the city, and then it was the turn of Lu Qing and the others, who had been waiting outside, to enter the city.

Naturally, entering the city required an entry fee. Mago took the money pouch and went to pay.

Collecting the entry fees was the same tall, imposing man as last time. With the previous experience in mind, Mago did not try to be clever this time, nor did he stuff extra money into the pouch. He honestly paid the exact amount according to the number of people entering the city.

The imposing man accepted the silver with a neutral expression and recorded it in his ledger. However, when he looked up at Mago again, he let out a slight exclamation.

"I recognize you. Didn't you just enter the city last month?"

Mago was startled at first, then quickly put on a flattering smile, "Sir, you have a good memory. Yes, we did just enter the city last month."

The imposing man looked past Mago and, upon seeing Lu Qing, couldn't help but be slightly taken aback. However, he quickly suppressed the unusual look in his eyes, regained his composure, and smiled.

"You returned quite quickly. Did you have a good time touring Zhongzhou?"

"Thanks to you, sir, our journey was smooth, and we saw many magnificent sights. It was an eye-opening experience for us."

"That's good. There’s no problem with the entry fee. You can go in now."

As Lu Qing and his companions entered the city, the imposing man’s smile gradually faded, replaced by a serious expression. He retrieved a scroll from a drawer beneath the table and carefully opened it. The scroll depicted a young man, holding a battle blade, full of spirit, and his face bore a striking resemblance to Lu Qing.

Upon seeing the figure on the scroll, the imposing man couldn't help but draw a sharp breath. "It really is him! But didn't we receive a message saying that he left Sacred City just three days ago? How did he return so quickly?"

Recalling the city lord’s instructions from a few days ago, the imposing man dared not delay. He called his deputy to take over collecting the entry fees and hurriedly left with the scroll in hand.

"Young Master Lu, did the city guard recognize you earlier?" Hu Zezhi asked as they walked along the street.

"Oh? What makes you say that?" Lu Qing raised an eyebrow.

"I noticed that the city guard’s expression changed when he saw you, as if he was very surprised. He must know who you are," Hu Zezhi said confidently.

Lu Qing was genuinely a bit surprised by this. He hadn't expected Hu Zezhi to pick up on that. However, he brushed it off, saying, "Perhaps, but it doesn’t concern us, so there’s no need to pay it any mind."

"Oh."

Seeing that Lu Qing and the old doctor both appeared unconcerned, Hu Zezhi decided to let it go as well.

Lu Qing smiled slightly. He had indeed noticed the unusual reaction from the imposing man. The look in his eyes clearly indicated that he recognized him. However, since Azure Dragon City was one of the checkpoints guarding Zhongzhou, it was no surprise that it had close ties with Sacred City. It wouldn't be surprising if they had some special means of communication and were familiar with his appearance. After all, after that battle in Sacred City, news about him must have spread among the major sects and forces. As long as they didn't bother him, Lu Qing didn’t mind.

"Young Master Lu, where do you plan to stay tonight? I grew up in this city and know it very well. I can take you to a good place," Hu Zezhi offered.

"It's still early. We won’t be staying in the city. After we drop you off at your home, we’ll be setting off again," Lu Qing replied with a smile.

"You're leaving so soon?" Hu Zezhi trembled slightly, looking at Lu Qing in a bit of a daze. She hadn't heard them mention this earlier in the morning.

"Yes, we’ve been away from home for quite a while now, and we’re eager to return..."

Hu Zezhi didn’t fully hear the rest of what Lu Qing said. Her mind was in a turmoil, and she stood there, stunned.

"Miss Hu?"

Lu Qing, noticing that something was wrong with her, called out to her a few times before Hu Zezhi finally snapped out of it.

"Oh, it's nothing. What’s the matter?" she asked, still somewhat dazed.

"Miss Hu, there are two forked paths ahead. Which one leads to your home?"

"Uh... take the left path," Hu Zezhi said after a moment of hurried recognition, then hastily walked ahead to hide her inner turmoil.

Seeing her somewhat flustered steps, Lu Qing shook his head but said nothing, simply following behind. As for the old doctor, he merely smiled at the young woman’s emotions, not expressing any opinion.

Though Hu Zezhi's heart was in disarray, it gradually settled down as they neared her home. What remained was the excitement and apprehension of returning home.

Finally, upon seeing the familiar entrance, her emotions reached their peak. Unable to contain herself, she ran forward.

The gate to the courtyard was open, and while Hu Zezhi found this odd, she was too overwhelmed with excitement to think much about it. She dashed inside, shouting, "Father, I’m back..."

But the next moment, her eyes widened in shock.

"Who are you people?! Let go of my father!"

Hu Zezhi's eyes were filled with horror. In the courtyard, a group of fierce-looking men were standing, and her father, Hu Laosan, was lying on the ground, his chest stained with blood, being stepped on by a luxuriously dressed young man with a sinister face.

"Xiaolian, you’re back? Are you alright?" Hu Laosan's eyes lit up with disbelief and joy upon seeing Hu Zezhi. But his joy quickly turned to urgency as he shouted, "Run quickly! These are bad men!"

Unfortunately, it was too late.

The young man’s eyes lit up with delight upon seeing Hu Zezhi. Without needing his orders, two men behind him immediately leapt forward to seize her.

"How dare you!"

Seeing his daughter about to fall into the hands of these villains, Hu Laosan’s eyes turned blood-red as he struggled violently. But he was already gravely injured, and the sinister-faced young man's cultivation was far superior to his own. The young man didn’t even bother looking at him. With a slight increase in pressure from his foot, Hu Laosan spat out a mouthful of blood and became too weak to struggle further.

The sinister-faced young man's gaze remained fixed on Hu Zezhi. Seeing that his subordinates were about to capture her, a faint smile appeared on his face. But the next moment, his smile froze.

A long black staff suddenly appeared from behind Hu Zezhi, striking the two subordinates in the chest.

Boom! Boom!

With a burst of immense power, the two men immediately spat out blood and were sent flying backward, crashing into various objects in the courtyard. By the time they came to a stop, they had already lost consciousness.

"What?!"

This unexpected turn of events left everyone in the courtyard stunned. The sinister-faced young man narrowed his eyes as he looked at the black staff that had appeared behind Hu Zezhi—or more accurately, at

the person holding the staff, Wei Zian.

"Who are you, to dare interfere in the affairs of the Qi family?" the sinister-faced young man asked coldly, his tone filled with menace.

But Wei Zian ignored him, instead looking at Hu Zezhi with concern. "Sister Hu, are you alright?"

"I'm fine," Hu Zezhi shook her head, her face filled with anxiety. "But my father has been captured by them."

"Dare to ignore me?"

Seeing Wei Zian speak to Hu Zezhi as if he were invisible, the sinister-faced young man’s face grew even colder. He subtly moved his fingers, and the next moment, two more figures leapt forward from behind him.

This time, the two who rushed forward were far stronger than the previous ones. The force of their powerful Qi and blood made the very air in the courtyard feel stifling. They were both Martial Grandmasters who had reached the Internal Organs Realm.

Despite facing two Martial Grandmasters, Wei Zian remained unflinching. He didn't even move, simply holding his staff with both hands and watching the scene unfold with a mocking expression.

"Is this kid courting death?"

Just as the sinister-faced young man felt a strange sensation in his heart, the next moment, something shocking occurred. A figure suddenly appeared beside Wei Zian, and a flash of a blade followed. Before the two Martial Grandmasters could react, they were struck by the blade and sent flying backward.

Bang! Bang!

By the time the two Martial Grandmasters managed to steady themselves and land on the ground, two deep, bone-revealing wounds had appeared on their chests.

Staring at the terrifying wounds on their chests, the two guards' eyes were filled with dread, and their hearts were gripped by an icy fear. They looked at Mago with immense wariness. If not for the armor they were wearing, they would have been sliced in half by now.

Where did this blade master come from? His blade technique was so bizarre that even they couldn't block it.

"And who might you be?"

This time, even the sinister-faced young man couldn’t remain calm. To severely wound two of his Internal Organs Realm guards with a single strike, Mago’s strength had to be at least at the level of a perfected Internal Organs Realm expert. Such a powerful figure was considered a master even within Azure Dragon City, no longer someone he could afford to ignore.

But what made the sinister-faced young man’s expression turn grim was that Mago also ignored his question. Instead, Mago looked down at the injured Hu Laosan and said indifferently, "Let him go."

"Very well, very well!"

The sinister-faced young man laughed in anger at Mago’s attitude. He had always been the one ordering others around; never had anyone dared to speak to him in such a manner. In a fit of rage, without thinking, he channeled his Qi and blood, preparing to crush Hu Laosan’s chest underfoot.

However, just as he was about to exert force, he felt the ground beneath his foot vanish. The next moment, an unbearable pain shot through his body, and he let out a howl, rolling to the ground.

It was then that he saw his calf lying a short distance away—his leg had been severed.

"My leg! My leg!"

The sinister-faced young man stared in disbelief at his severed leg and began to scream hysterically.

"Young Master! Young Master!"

The guards and servants standing nearby were thrown into chaos. Some rushed to stop the bleeding, while others shielded him, fearing further harm.

"Kill them! Kill them all!"

In the throes of pain and madness, the sinister-faced young man’s reason had all but vanished. He screamed in a high-pitched voice, demanding that his men kill Wei Zian and Mago. However, after witnessing Mago’s blade technique, the remaining guards hesitated, too afraid to move forward.

Seeing their hesitation, the sinister-faced young man became even more frantic. "If you don’t attack, I’ll have my father kill your entire families!"

Hearing this, the guards and servants’ faces turned pale. Unable to hesitate any longer, they gritted their teeth, reddened their eyes, and prepared to charge at Wei Zian and Mago. Even the two severely wounded guards drew their weapons and staggered forward.

But just then, an invisible pressure suddenly descended upon the courtyard, freezing everyone in place. The guards and servants were completely immobilized, their expressions locked in place, unable to move a muscle.

"Precelestial pressure?! Who in the Precelestial Realm dares to act within the city?"

The moment this pressure appeared, a figure meditating in a nearby luxurious mansion was immediately alerted.
