Chapter 324
“Ah, that’s quite a good idea.”
Right? I think that method isn’t bad at all.
Even though the countries along the Red Line have all collapsed, would all those Communists really have vanished? If you ask that, the answer is no.
So, it’s possible they might accidentally drift into the Arabian Peninsula.
Of course, that’s just a pretext, nothing more than a justification. But it’s not entirely out of the question.
“But then, becoming a caliph at a suitable time would be difficult.”
The Turkish side viewed it negatively.
If they were to use the Reds as a pretext, what would happen to the caliph, and how would they dominate the Arabian Peninsula?
“The King of Hejaz, who can’t even manage the Communists, has no right to rule the Arabian Peninsula. The argument that a true caliph should govern would be enough. Don’t forget about the pride of the Rome Treaty.”
It’s just the Arabian Peninsula, after all.
There’s certainly a justification for securing the oil fields and for the suppression of Hejaz, but wouldn’t it be better to have everything perfect?
Claiming to be a caliph when you can’t even control the Reds? Nonsense. Thus, we should establish a true caliph. Yeah. That reason isn’t bad at all.
We can’t just keep wasting military supplies like this.
“Right. That’s a good plan. First, let’s push out Nejd and station troops in Hejaz under the pretext of crushing the Communists.”
I don’t know about anything else, but we will definitely catch the Communists.
For only that single reason, there aren’t places the Rome Treaty cannot go.
“That doesn’t sound bad.”
“Alright, then, let’s push out Nejd.”
Now that we’ve reached a conclusion, there’s no reason to hesitate.
The Rome Treaty army pushed towards Riyadh, the capital of the Nejd Sultanate.
The capital was quickly occupied by the Rome Treaty army and erupted into flames, leaving the House of Saud with no choice but to surrender.
“I will surrender.”
“The fate of the House of Saud will be left to Hejaz.”
“Thank you!”
“However, currently, there are Communists discovered in Nejd and throughout the Arabian Peninsula, so for a while, we will be garrisoning troops to capture the Communists. We ask for your cooperation in this matter.”
Initially, Hejaz accepted the demands of the Rome Treaty Organization.
There was no telling how the Rome Treaty army would respond to resistance, and in fact, Hejaz needed the help of the Rome Treaty to unify Nejd.
Yet, the caliph of Hejaz, Hussein, was overjoyed, having seized victory from a situation where he was nearly overwhelmed by Nejd, thereby establishing Sharif Arabia.
However, shortly after the war ended.
“What is this? Why must it extend to our capital as well?”
“I hear there are still many Communists in the Hejaz region.”
The Rome Treaty army even disarmed part of the Hejaz forces.
Since it was originally armed with the weaponry of the Rome Treaty, it wasn’t particularly difficult.
Effectively, they had unified the Arabian Peninsula only to nearly turn it into a semi-colony.
Yet, Hussein believed in the Rome Treaty, which had proclaimed the end of colonialism, thinking he’d never fall again.
“A new caliph has arisen in Turkey!”
Soon after, a new caliph emerged in Turkey.
“The one and only caliph of Islam is none other than our Empress Durishevah!”
As if it were a scripted drama, Turkey demanded punishment against Hejaz, claiming only Turkey’s caliph was the legitimate caliph of Islam.
Quicker than ever, the Rome Treaty Headquarters in Rome complied, and just a short while ago, when they were claiming to hunt down Communists in Hejaz, the Rome Treaty army instantly transformed into an army of punishment.
“Oh dear. It’s an order from above, so there’s no choice~”
“You bastards!”
The treaty army stationed in the Arabian Peninsula advanced towards the entirety of Hejaz. Caught by surprise and already outnumbered and outmatched in quality, Hejaz lost its capital and had to vacate the caliphate.
This all happened just two weeks after Sharif Arabia was established.
* * *
The war in the Arabian Peninsula.
This war effectively ended as a complete victory for the Rome Treaty.
Shortly after Nejd fell, the treaty army occupied Hejaz under the pretext of catching Communists, causing disruption here and there.
Later, under the justification of a Turkish caliph, Hejaz was destroyed by the Rome Treaty army.
“I hear Hejaz has been crushed.”
Upon hearing the news from the Duma, I nodded knowingly.
Well, I already knew that.
Generally, I would receive reports through the Okhrana first.
The mention of Communists was quite unexpected, but I heard it was said by Louis Mountbatten. As expected, those Brits know how to make a mess.
How dare they use the methods I’ve been employing! Stealing my signature techniques like that!
“It’s too bad. Tsk tsk. How unfortunate. Who knew they had Communists inside?”
Having Communists inside is just tragic. In that case, we have no choice but to capture them.
In reality, the treaty army seemed to create a justification to quickly push through and finish the war, wanting to wrap things up efficiently.
What a shame it has come to this.
Well, there’s nothing to be done about being a small nation. Ultimately, the fate of Middle Eastern countries is that they have no choice but to comply with what the Rome Treaty dictates.
What happened to other Middle Eastern nations after that?
At the very least, other countries should wake up after witnessing the devastation of the Arabian Peninsula. Let’s see what they have to say.
“What’s the reaction from other countries?”
“So far, Iraq has condemned the actions of the Rome Treaty alongside Iran, calling it imperialist aggression.”
Iraq and Iran, huh? Do they still think they can do something? It’s almost pitiable. But what can you do?
“Oh? Are they planning to try something together?”
Looks like they still haven’t come to their senses.
Do they really believe there’s something reliable to hold onto now? Or is it just their pride getting in the way? Are they trying to make something out of this?
Or do they think they can’t wage war anymore?
Are they really believing that dragging out a war in the Arabian Peninsula will be difficult? Even if it’s a Turkish caliph, do they really have no intention to back down?
In that case, they must still be banking on the U.S.
Exactly. Maybe they’re exporting oil to the U.S. or something. Trying to gain support through oil, or perhaps they want to fall under U.S. influence.
After all, it would be hard for the U.S. to give up on the Middle East. It’s a country that provides oil, after all. They wouldn’t want to lose that.
The oil produced in the U.S. won’t meet the demand for cars.
They’re importing from Venezuela and Canada, and there’s Indonesia too, but the U.S. will want to partner with the Middle East for oil imports.
One of the reasons why the U.S. is so focused on South America must also be Venezuela. Thinking this way, it’s clear that the U.S. will need oil imports from Arab oil countries.
Canada is part of the Commonwealth as a member nation of the Rome Treaty.
If the U.S. gains Iraq and Iran, they can counter Russia from Iran. The intentions of the Middle Eastern countries are glaringly obvious.
Even the U.S. wouldn’t want to easily let this slip away.
“Do they plan to ally with the U.S.?”
If not the U.S., then they’re just asking for suicide.
They’ve got more guts than I thought.
If the U.S. truly allies with the Middle East, it will become a nuisance for us.
It’s unlikely that the U.S. would break their promise with us, but—
No, wait. This is the U.S.
Honestly, they’re on our side, and they’re the best among the world’s top players, but we can’t blindly see them as purely virtuous either.
Especially after going through situations in South America right now.
“Didn’t we already get confirmation from the U.S. that the Middle East is our spot?”
At Maria’s words, I gave a mischievous smile and shook my finger.
“Oh, oh dear, Maria doesn’t know anything yet.”
Sure, we received confirmation from the U.S.
But getting confirmed and the resource scarcity in the U.S. are two separate issues.
If it comes down to it, if the U.S. is facing its own oil shortage, they would seek to gain the Middle East, even if it leads to conflict with the Rome Treaty.
The Arab nations are currently aware of their worth.
“Confirmed or not, we still have to think about oil demand in the U.S. If they ask what you guys have been doing without managing the Middle East, it could end up being a huge mess.”
In that case, shouldn’t we give the U.S. something really tasty?
For now, nearly all the oil produced in Europe is being used within the Rome Treaty organization. Should we export Arabian oil to the U.S.?
We can just create a new treaty regarding oil exports.
In exchange for giving oil, we tell the Arabs to get lost. That should be sufficient.
“The Arabian oil fields need to be a huge success.”
The Arabian oil fields? That would be a total jackpot.
Just securing that would ease the Rome Treaty’s fortunes.
Right now, we’re already raking in profits from Libyan oil. If we also get Arab oil, wouldn’t that be insane?
“In the grand scheme of things, I couldn’t finish the story about the Arabs, but Saudi Arabia became incredibly wealthy because of that oil. So, just having the oil from Saudi Arabia means the Rome Treaty never lacks in oil supplies.”
We have all sorts of oil being produced within the Rome Treaty, too. If Iraq and Iran refuse to give us oil, we can simply isolate them internationally.
Regrettably, the current world is quite different from the original world. We need to tidy things up when we can, nodding towards Iraq and Iran.
“I think preparing ahead would also be a good idea.”
“Preparing? What kind of preparation?”
What do I need to prepare for here?
“For instance, the reconstruction of the Hellenistic Empire! Something like that.”
Maria sparkled her eyes and clenched her fists.
Yeah. That’s right. That’s not a bad idea at all.
“How about you go in style? Under the pretext of reconstructing the Hellenistic Empire, leading the Greek army would look quite nice.”
Oh, then I’d definitely be racking up some serious points, wouldn’t I?
Just imagining it makes me feel like I’ll get a lot of Roman and Hellenistic hype.
Alright, then let’s just prepare to take our forces to Iraq or Iran.
Let’s let the Whites know to prepare an expeditionary force for Iraq and Iran.
We have to catch the enemy while we have overwhelming superiority.
“That doesn’t sound bad.”
Since I’ve already committed to this.
Sure, it started with the Brits, but I’m the one stepping in actively.
From the second phase onward, wouldn’t it be a blast to push all the way into Iran with the army myself?
In fact, I think it wouldn’t be half-bad to visit the Arabian Peninsula later on.
I could just go there and drill for oil and stuff.
“Shall we go then?”
Drill for oil, and while I’m at it, why not enter Babylon and modernize the ancient Babylon? After all, Alexander chose Babylon as the capital for a reason.
I can just make that land our own.
When the expedition is all over, it seems like I could reorganize the Rome Treaty organization anew on the map.
Transforming the Arab region into the Hellenistic sphere, linking Greece, the Ottoman Empire, and Russia into the Byzantine sphere, and mapping out Northern Rome from the Balkans to Poland and the Baltic, and then Middle Rome with Britain, Germany, and the Danube, while Southern Rome gathers Italy, Switzerland, and Spain wouldn’t be a bad idea at all.
Hellenistic regions, Byzantine regions, Northern Rome regions, Middle Rome regions, Southern Rome regions. Creating a new map restructured under the Romans Treaty federation sounds nice.
So then, we inevitably have to raid the Arab region.
Definitely just up to Iran, not Afghanistan. It’s about recovering the territory of the Hellenistic Empire.
“I have no ties to the Romanovs, but I’ll inherit the legacy of Alexander the Great.”
This is my limit.
I will only reconstruct the Hellenistic Empire and then put an end to the war.
What’s certain is that this war won’t just satisfy my selfish desires but will also expedite the end of the war by being led by the ruler themselves.
It’s a declaration of strong will.
“Oh. Ooh. It’s been a while since His Majesty’s hands-on approach!”
For some reason, Maria seems overly excited, but is it really that surprising? Since I’ve been in Moscow for a while, I’d like to take a little trip.
After all, the Arabs probably don’t have any decent weapons, so they should be easy pickings.
I mean, you know, despite the looks, I’ve secretly wanted to ride in a tank.
Pew pewing and firing off the main cannon sounds like a blast, doesn’t it?
“Wouldn’t it work just to get in a tank and go bang bang?”
Pew pew pew!
Ugh, just imagining it is exciting. And these would be tanks with quite different specs from the tanks in the original history, you know.
The tank operator might be shocked, but experiencing it once wouldn’t be bad to think about.
“Oh, but the Whites might stop that.”
“Really?”
I think I’ll be just fine, so it should be okay.
Even if the Arabs destroy my tank, I can still survive.
Then, would I be treated as the one true God, Allah?
