I Became a National ‘Disaster’ Level Monster

Chapter 33 - (Revised by Author) I Might Not Be Needed?

Author Notes:

Hello, dear readers. This is the author of “I Became a National ‘Disaster’ Level Monster.”

First, I would like to apologize sincerely. I am truly sorry for any discomfort that my work may have caused.

I have reflected deeply after receiving harsh criticism from many readers about the recent “Big House” episode.

The unreasonable plot twists and nonsensical surprises were inexcusable. I am deeply sorry for disappointing the readers who were enjoying my work.

After much deliberation, I am embarrassed but I have decided to entirely remove the “Big House” episode.

Thankfully, this episode was designed as a sort of spin-off, so if you continue with the content added in episode 28, you should be able to follow along with the original storyline easily.

Once again, I deeply apologize. I have clearly understood what you, the readers, expect from my work, and I will do my best to meet those expectations and show you the dedication you deserve.

The only reason a third-rate author like me could rise to this position among the many masterpieces on NobelPia is because of your interest. From now on, I will focus and do my best with the series.

Thank you.

Chapter 33: I Might Not Be Needed?

In the original work, it was an attack on Princess Kurumi’s mansion that lasted about a month.

Excluding minor attacks, there were a total of four major assaults, which started at one-week intervals.

‘Since today is Friday, the next major attack will be next Friday…!’

It was the moment when the second main story of finally began.

‘Is it okay for me to stay inside the mansion?’

I turned my attention to the outside where a series of loud noises were coming from.

While playing the original, I always protected Princess Kurumi from beyond the mansion walls.

In other words, the interior of the mansion was a terrain I didn’t know at all, even as an experienced player.

If I encountered an enemy here, in the worst case, I would have to transform into a monster to protect Princess Kurumi.

If my identity were revealed like that, what kind of expression would the princess, who had just smiled at me, have?

‘It wouldn’t be a good expression…’

And being discovered by the princess of one of the world’s top 10 families…

From that moment, I might have to permanently part ways with human society.

“It seems like an intense battle is happening outside.”

“…! Can you tell?”

“Yes. My senses are trained to that extent. I can know who is doing what and how many are within 100 meters around me, regardless of direction.”

As expected from one of the world’s top 10 families!

There was a reason why Sophia was called the ‘Genius of Asia.’

Princess Kurumi’s skills as a hunter were even more impressive than I thought.

‘If the second princess from one of the top 10 families appearing in the beginning is like this, the children of the top 10 families from the West, where the history of hunters began, must be even more formidable.’

I didn’t get to meet all of them because they were released later with updates and expansion packs.

At least, all the heads of the top 10 families I met while playing the original were all ‘monsters’ similar to the level of Director Jin-ah Lee.

‘Let’s think about the future later.’

For now, I knew that I was pretty useless in my human form.

Swoosh.

“?!”

But I didn’t come here just to be the princess’s playmate.

“I will do my best to protect you as much as I can!”

“…!”

I stepped forward to protect Princess Kurumi, who had been trying to protect me, taking on the role of a ‘guard knight.’

“Th-thank you…”

“You’re welcome.”

Then the princess turned her head away from me.

Was she trying not to laugh at my ridiculous appearance?

I could see her covering her mouth with her sleeve to suppress her laughter. However, she couldn’t hide her reddening ears.

‘Well, if this lightens the mood, it wouldn’t be so bad.’

“What should we do right now?”

“Let’s wait for now. We don’t know if the mansion’s security has been completely breached yet, and moving rashly could be detrimental.”

“Yes, understood.”

Was she used to such situations?

Princess Kurumi seemed to have a good grasp of the situation, giving appropriate instructions.

‘Sophia will be alright, right?’

It’s still the first week.

The big figures like B-rank or higher monsters or the assassin leader who appears in the last week wouldn’t come out yet.

If it’s Sophia, who acquired B-rank in America, she should be able to get through the first week safely…

Shushushushu.

“Shin-woo!”

It was at that moment when I was relieved thinking only about the original work.

Something red, like a ball, flew fiercely into the guest room where we were, beyond the sliding door leading to the outer garden.

As a result, the sliding door blocking the inside of the mansion was completely obliterated.

In the room where sunlight started to enter, a red skull slowly floated into the air and began to wreathe itself in flames.

“Is that a Hell Head?”

“It’s a monster classified as C+ in danger, even by American standards.”

A monster that couldn’t possibly appear in the early stages.

I remembered it as a troublesome creature that inflicted burn status on those it came into close contact with.

‘Is something like this appearing here?’

Did someone install hardcore mode when I was possessed in this game?

Both the ‘Research Building Rampage Incident’ and the current ‘Protect the Princess’ quest were already on a hell difficulty level, ignoring the main storyline.

‘To catch this thing, I need a water attribute attack…!’

This was the guest room.

There wasn’t even water around, just two neatly placed cushions in an empty space.

Should I run away then?

Or should I wait for Sophia’s support?

While I was pondering.

“Hell Head is a terrifying monster that inflicts at least second-degree burns on contact.”

“…?! P-Princess?”

Despite being a Beast Hunter, Princess Kurumi began walking toward the Hell Head instead of retreating to fight.

Surprised, I tried to grab her immediately.

“I’m fine.”

What was it?

Seeing the woman walking gracefully as if not causing any ripples in a serene lake, I withdrew my hand, feeling the reverence.

As if not to interrupt the march of a king.

The princess, standing right in front of the bewildered Hell Head.

Just when the monster, which seemed to regain its senses, opened its mouth to turn her to ashes.

“Come out, Fox.”

She clasped her fingers, taking the form of a fox.

“Kaga, Kaga, Kaga!”

At that moment.

Bang!

The Hell Head, which had its mouth wide open, suddenly writhed in pain and then exploded, spewing out five black foxes from its body.

“Well done, Fox.”

“Awoo.”

When Princess Kurumi praised it, the five foxes merged into one large black fox, reaching the ceiling.

I was left in a daze, just watching.

‘Is that Princess Kurumi’s summoned monster?’

Of course, it was a creature I had never seen in the original.

“This one’s name is Inari. It’s one of the four monsters I command, passed down through the Kitsune family.”

“I see…”

A monster from one of the top 10 families would at least be A-rank in danger.

Anyway, a Hell Head, which was infamous even in the mid to late stages of the game for causing status burn on contact, was dealt with in one blow.

‘That’s overbalanced…’

With this level of strength, she could clear the main quest alone without a bodyguard.

Princess Kurumi was too powerful for the early stage.

“Gr…r…”

“Huh?”

At that moment.

A roughly 5-meter-sized fox growled while looking at me.

‘Chills down my spine…’

The vertically slit pupils were clearly fixated on me, and moving my body side to side only confirmed that its head followed my movements.

Then.

“Growl!”

“Wha-what?!”

Inari, the fox monster, charged at me.

‘Should I transform?’

Or is this puppy just unable to distinguish between friend and foe?

I was genuinely considering slapping it just hard enough not to kill it to make it come to its senses when.

“Growl~!”

“Huh?”

“Inari? Do you like Shin-woo too?”

Suddenly, Inari began licking my head with a tongue bigger than my face, like it was candy.

The predator-like slit pupils softened as it began to show affection.

‘What’s going on? Why is it acting like this all of a sudden?’

Despite being a summoned monster, a beast was still a beast.

It would typically attack humans, but Inari seemed to like me a lot, more like a real puppy.

So, I looked over at Princess Kurumi, wondering what was happening.

“Well… I’ve talked a lot about Shin-woo to Inari recently. So it probably doesn’t see you as a stranger…”

Princess Kurumi seemed to have been treating this giant fox monster like a real pet.

Well, thanks to it, we got rid of the Hell Head, I didn’t have to reveal my identity, and it looked like Princess Kurumi would safely get through this first week.

“Alright, you can lick all you want.”

With a willing heart, I let Inari’s saliva shower over my head…

“Hooh. To understand human speech despite not being a humanoid monster, the princess of Japan sure has an interesting dog.”

It was at that moment.

“Growl!!”

“…Huh?”

“?!”

Suddenly, a gentlemanly-dressed man was sitting cross-legged on the tatami mat right in the middle between me, Princess Kurumi, and Inari.

None of us noticed his approach until he was already this close.

“But for a summoned monster from one of the top 10 families, it’s a bit lacking. At best, it’s only an A-rank threat.”

Greasy black hair and a beard.

Even while laughing boisterously, his golden eyes felt overwhelming when they met mine.

“Since they allowed me to ‘escape’ from Russia, I expected a more dangerous mission, so I broke out of prison. But as expected, the hunters in Korea, a weak country that doesn’t even make the top 10 in the world, are below standard.”

I just held my breath looking at this man.

Because he was the one who, in the later stages of the game, killed my few beloved characters purely with his skill, without any tricks.

‘Why is this guy here?’

“Growl….!”

“Hmm?”

“Krraaaagh!”

“N-No! Inari, stop!!”

One of the only two National Authority-level hunters in Russia.

A man who killed both humans and monsters depending on his mood and entered prison to control himself.

His name was Barbachov Lorensky.

Knowing his strength, I quickly shouted to stop Inari, who

was about to go wild.

But.

Crunch.

“Are you playing cute? Fox?”

“Krk?!”

Inari’s terrifying teeth bit his left neck.

But Lorensky, with a wide grin, patted Inari’s head, who was doing its best to exert force with its jaw, as if enjoying a puppy’s affection.

Bang!

Simultaneously, he exploded Inari’s body with just a touch.

“I-Inari!!”

A summoned monster doesn’t die immediately even if it loses its form.

If it returned to the body of its master, the Beast Hunter, and took enough rest, it would be restored to its original state.

However, realizing that a monster at the A-rank level like Inari was defeated with just a pat, Princess Kurumi’s face lost all traces of its previous smile.

Regardless of that.

“Princess, may I have a moment?”

A hunter who was so strong that even meeting him in the final stages was optional as he wasn’t a necessary boss to defeat.

Lorensky still approached Princess Kurumi with a beaming smile.

“P-Princess…!”

“Oh dear. Young man, you look like an ordinary person, so just faint quietly in a corner~.”

As I tried to rush to the princess, who had her wrist grabbed, I was kicked in the solar plexus and flew through the sliding door to the end of the mansion.

“Shin-woo!”
