Chapter 2: Angewomon in Fairy Tail
High in the sky, the angelic figure was none other than Moss.
"Did I miss...?"
Although she successfully used Angewomon's skill, her aim still needed work.
But that was fine. If one arrow missed, she could just fire another.
Moss pulled back the bowstring of the feathered bow growing from her left-hand glove, and an arrow made of pure white light materialized.
This was the signature skill of Angewomon—Heaven's Arrow!
When shooting, she had to lift her left leg and maintain a 90-degree angle with her right leg—an important stance to remember.
"H-Hey, can we talk this out?" the monster asked with a nervous chuckle.
Even just the aftershock of her previous attack had left its body slightly paralyzed—what would happen if it took a direct hit?
It would die!
It might have been arrogant, but that didn't mean it wasn't afraid of death.
In fact, it was terrified.
Whoosh!
"After everything, you still say such meaningless things." Moss released her grip, and the arrow shot forward.
This time, it hit the target.
To ensure accuracy, she had even closed the distance before firing.
The monster tried to escape, but there was nowhere left to run.
The arrow of light struck the monster's chest, and its destructive force spread instantly throughout its entire body.
And then—just like that—it was dead.
One shot, one kill.
Moss descended from the sky and landed in front of the three young people. With a smile, she asked, "Can we introduce ourselves now?"
The long-haired girl was Mirajane Strauss.
The short-haired girl was Lisanna Strauss.
And the big-built boy was Elfman Strauss.
As expected, this world was indeed the world of Fairy Tail.
Lisanna looked at Moss and asked, "Big sister, are you an angel?"
Big sister…
Moss instinctively wanted to correct her but hesitated and gave up with a slight pout.
"I suppose you could say that."
As she spoke, her gaze shifted to Mirajane's arms.
Even though her face was hidden behind an iron mask, Mirajane could still feel Moss's eyes on her. With a bitter smile, she asked, "Are you here to eliminate me, the demon?"
Lisanna and Elfman tensed up, immediately stepping in front of Moss to shield their sister, Mirajane.
Moss was momentarily speechless, then let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. "Relax, I'm not here to eliminate you. Besides, you're not a demon."
Now, it was Mirajane's turn to be stunned.
She looked down at her demon-like arms. Didn't these mean she was a demon?
Moss explained, "The reason your arms have transformed into a demonic shape is because of 'Take-Over Magic.' Take-Over Magic is a type of magic that allows one to absorb the power of magical creatures to fight."
"Take-Over Magic? Are you saying… my arms are magic?" Mirajane looked at them in surprise.
Then, with hope gleaming in her eyes, she asked, "Does that mean my arms can go back to normal?"
Lisanna and Elfman looked equally hopeful.
Moss smiled lightly. "Of course. Once you master Take-Over Magic, you'll be able to return to normal. Your current situation is simply the result of not having proper training."
Lisanna chimed in, "We've lived in the village since we were little. We've never even heard of magic before."
Moss nodded in understanding before turning back to Mirajane. "You probably awakened Take-Over Magic during a life-threatening crisis and accidentally absorbed a demon's soul. Since you didn't know how to control it, you ended up like this. Once you learn magic, you'll be able to return to normal."
"Magic..."
Mirajane remained silent for a long time.
Then, this strong-willed girl suddenly covered her face and cried.
"I'm not a demon! I'm not possessed! I just awakened a magical power..."
Though she was crying, there was a clear sense of relief in her voice.
"Big sister!"
Lisanna and Elfman immediately rushed to her side, embracing their weeping sister from both sides.
"That's wonderful! Big sister, I knew it! This is amazing!"
Once they had calmed down, the three of them sincerely thanked Moss—both for saving them and for clearing up their misunderstanding.
Previously, they had been shunned by their village after Mirajane defeated a demon that had been plaguing the church. The villagers labeled them as demon-possessed, forcing them to leave their home. Because of this, they had become extremely self-conscious and distrustful of others, keeping their guard up at all times.
Now that they knew the truth, they not only expressed their gratitude but also apologized for their previous hostility.
"We're sorry for the way we acted before."
"It's fine. It's all in the past. Let me heal you."
Moss raised her hands and released a multicolored glow.
Healing Light!
Mirajane had been injured earlier by the monster, leaving her body in pain and numbness.
But under the radiance of the Healing Light, that pain faded away like a receding tide.
And it was so warm…
It felt like being wrapped in a mother's embrace.
"This is magic...?"
Mirajane marveled at the mysterious and wondrous power.
"Thank you, Sister Moss. I feel much better now."
Oh?
She actually called me Sister Moss?
Moss found it amusing. After all, Mirajane had been a rebellious troublemaker in her youth—getting such polite treatment from her was quite rare.
With a soft smile, Moss withdrew the Healing Light.
Mirajane then eagerly asked, "Sister Moss, do you know Take-Over Magic? Can you teach me?"
Lisanna and Elfman, realizing that Moss's angelic appearance might also be a result of Take-Over Magic, grew curious as well.
After all, she couldn't really be an angel… right?
It had to be Take-Over Magic…
Mirajane couldn't help but envy her. If only I had absorbed an angel instead of a demon, my siblings and I wouldn't have had to wander around like this…
"I don't know Take-Over Magic," Moss shook her head. "But if you want to learn magic, I suggest joining Fairy Tail."
"What's that?"
"It's a mage guild..."
After explaining, Moss took to the skies, searching for the direction of the nearest city. Once she located it, she returned and guided Mirajane, Lisanna, and Elfman toward it.
As they walked, they chatted.
Lisanna asked, "Sister Moss, you're wearing a mask that covers your eyes. How can you still see?"
Moss replied, "This mask doesn't block my vision."
She could see everything perfectly fine.
"Sister Moss, earlier… what exactly were you doing?"
Earlier? What part?
Oh, that.
Moss smirked. "That's an adult secret. Kids like you wouldn't understand."
"..." Mirajane and Lisanna exchanged glances.
Elfman, however, looked completely clueless. What's going on? What are they talking about?
The Kingdom of Fiore was located in the magical world of Earthland, a permanently neutral country with a population of 17 million.
Here, magic was an integral part of daily life.
Across the kingdom, many mage guilds existed, but the most famous of them all was Fairy Tail, a guild that gathered powerful mages.
In the historic, magic-infused commercial city of Magnolia, the Fairy Tail Guild was based.
"This is it!"
Standing in front of the three-story guild building, Moss, Mirajane, Lisanna, and Elfman looked up at the banner displaying the Fairy Tail emblem.
"Let's go inside!"
