I Became a Digimon and Change Worlds Every Month

Chapter 10: First Mission

Moss stepped out of the bath and put on her scratched and battle-worn Angewomon suit.

Following Angewomon's instructions, she channeled data into the damaged areas—

Within seconds, the torn fabric regenerated, restoring her outfit to pristine condition.

"Convenient as always, Digimon tech."

Morning Ritual: The "Gacha" Draw

The next morning, Moss performed her daily gacha ritual.

Unfortunately, luck was not on her side.

Ten draws—

All Garbagemon and Numemon.

"Good thing I secured Myotismon yesterday—who knows when I'd pull something useful again."

Accepting a Mission

Walking into the Fairy Tail guild, Moss headed straight to the mission board.

Last night, while soaking in the bath, she had decided to take on a job to earn money.

Even though she had discovered her outfit was self-repairing, she still needed cash for rent and food at the guild.

Sure, rent and food could be put on a tab,

But Moss hated owing debts.

So, she browsed the mission board for a job.

Makarov's Advice

"Oh? Moss, are you taking a mission?"

Makarov approached with interest.

"You can take any mission on the first floor. The second floor is for S-Class wizards only. If you find one you like, bring it to me for approval."

Moss asked, "Master, are there any modeling jobs?"

Makarov nearly choked on his drink.

"What kind of request board do you think this is?!"

"No?" Moss sighed in disappointment. "I was hoping for some easy money."

With her tall, elegant figure, Angewomon's divine beauty, and an angelic presence,

Modeling seemed like the most effortless way to make a fortune.

No danger, no battles—just posing for the camera.

Much easier than fighting monsters.

Makarov rolled his eyes.

"If you gain enough fame, magazines will eventually come to you. Until then, work hard and make a name for yourself."

"Makes sense. Without fame, the modeling fees wouldn't be high anyway."

Moss nodded and resumed scanning the board—

Her eyes landing on one particular request.

"How about this one?"

[Mission: Monster Extermination]

Objective: Eliminate the Vulcans terrorizing Hakobe Mountain.

Reward: 100,000J

Makarov frowned.

"Vulcans, huh? Those creatures show up every now and then to cause trouble. They always travel in groups and use Take Over Magic—but instead of absorbing powers, they use it to possess humans."

Moss raised an eyebrow.

"So they use Take Over like a parasite? Interesting."

Makarov added, "Although… I doubt they'll try to possess you."

"Why not?" Moss asked.

Makarov smirked.

"Vulcans are perverts. They love beautiful women. If they capture you… Well, you can imagine the rest."

Moss clenched her fists.

"So, they're the pudding kind of monsters, huh?"

Her smile darkened.

"Oh, then I'll just have to teach them a lesson!"

Makarov sighed.

"I was actually trying to warn you to pick a different mission."

If a male wizard took this job, he wouldn't worry.

Even if they got possessed, they could always be rescued later.

But Moss was a woman—

A beautiful one at that.

Even if they rescued her, she might be scarred for life.

Moss simply grinned.

"I'll be fine."

"At worst, I can fly. I'll just keep my distance and fight from the air."

Makarov sighed again.

"This girl is too carefree…"

Assigning a Partner

Makarov thought for a moment.

"Fine. But I'll send someone with you as a guide and backup."

He turned toward a blonde-haired young man with headphones, casually leaning against the bar.

"Laxus, you're going with her."

Laxus frowned.

"Tch. Babysitting duty? This is such a lame mission."

Being Makarov's grandson, Laxus had monstrous innate magic power.

At just seventeen, his strength already rivaled S-Class wizards—

Though he hadn't officially taken the exam yet.

Makarov grinned.

"If you go, I'll add your name to this year's S-Class trial list."

Truthfully—

Makarov was already planning to put Laxus on the list.

His power and performance on missions were more than enough.

But Laxus didn't know that.

Hearing this, he immediately caved.

"Fine. Whatever."

Mission Departure

"Perfect!" Moss clapped her hands. "Now I can adjust my strategy."

Laxus glanced at her, uninterested.

Moss grabbed his hand and smiled.

"Let's go!"

Laxus immediately yanked his hand away, face turning slightly red.

"Tch. I can walk on my own."

At this stage, Laxus was still a bit rebellious—

But not yet the arrogant loner he would become in the main story.

Moss noticed his awkward reaction—

A mischievous glint flickered in her eyes.

With a casual wave to Makarov, she followed Laxus out of the guild.

As they left, Makarov smirked to himself.

"Laxus, you better make your move before someone else does!"

Sure, there were plenty of other guides available.

But as his grandfather, Makarov seized the chance to set him up.

Journey to Hakobe Mountain

The two rented a magic-powered car and drove toward Hakobe Mountain.

Since magic fuel powered the vehicle, Laxus also had to act as the driver.

At this point, he realized something—

"Damn… Grandpa totally tricked me into being a chauffeur too."

Annoyed, he sped up, eager to finish the mission quickly.

Arrival: The Freezing Cold

Two hours later, they reached the foot of Hakobe Mountain.

The snow-covered path ahead made it impossible for the car to go further.

They would have to continue on foot.

Moss stepped out of the car—

And shivered violently.

"So cold!"

She hugged herself, goosebumps rising on her flawless skin.

Laxus smirked.

"Well, maybe wear more clothes next time."

Moss glanced at him—

And grinned.

"You're shivering too, you know."

Laxus snorted.

"Tch. I just used too much magic energy. Once I recover, this cold won't mean a thing."

Magic users adapted better to extreme conditions—

But after driving for two hours, Laxus had drained his reserves.

Suddenly—

Moss raised a glowing hand.

"Healing Light!"

A soft, seven-colored light surrounded Laxus.

His body instantly felt warmer, strength returning.

"The hell are you doing?" Laxus blinked.

Moss smiled.

"Helping you recover faster."

Laxus raised an eyebrow.

"This girl has healing magic too?"

"If I ever form a team… I need someone like this."

Moss turned toward the mountain's peak.

"Let's go. With Laxus behind me, I have nothing to fear!"

Laxus crossed his arms.

"Just so you know—I won't help until you're on the verge of losing."

Moss grinned.

"That's fine. Your presence alone is all I need."

With that, she strode forward.

Laxus watched her oddly confident figure.

"…Weird woman."

With a scoff, he shoved his hands into his pockets and followed.
