Chapter 167: Chapter 167: The Frigate and "Death Compensation" First Meeting
With these thoughts in mind, Samuel Young withdrew his attention from the cityscape outside the floor-to-ceiling window, turning back toward his desk.
As he sat down, he waved his hand to activate the standby holographic screen, pulling up the data related to the upcoming raid.
His focus landed on a page titled Fides-Class Frigate:
Ship Name: Fides-Class.
Note: Fides is Atlas' first self-produced space frigate.
Length: 466 meters.
Width (maximum): 92 meters.
Height (maximum): 103 meters.
Description:
This class retains many of the specifications of the Selene-class military transport ship, but has been partially optimized by the company's research division, making it the first self-produced military frigate for the company.
In outer space, after five months of continuous acceleration, the ship can reach a maximum speed of 94% of the speed of light.
Without using its antimatter engines, its maximum cruising speed is about 120 kilometers per second.
It also uses modular armor and chamber structures.
Additionally, superconducting magnetic field generators have been embedded within the composite armor, allowing it to deflect or "bounce off" low-intensity plasma-based energy attacks.
The main difference between this frigate and the Selene-class transport ship is its main cannon: a 300-meter-long electromagnetic railgun capable of firing 1.4-ton tungsten-steel alloy projectiles.
Personnel:
Bridge crew: 26
Engineering and maintenance crew: 70
Ground support and logistics crew: 220
Orbital assault and emergency response marines (AECS Marines): 1,200
In total, the maximum number of personnel the Fides-Class Frigate can accommodate is approximately 6,300.
Additional Information:
1. White-Legged Falcon multipurpose carrier aircraft.
2. Puffin multipurpose transport assault craft.
Seeing this, Samuel Young tapped the supplementary information section:
Puffin Multipurpose Transport Assault Craft:
This model features wings with a transformable structure, allowing for extension and retraction depending on the environmental conditions, whether in outer space or within the atmosphere.
Powered by two jet engines and four small nuclear fusion engines, the craft is capable of handling personnel and material transport, as well as special operations and rescue support, both in space and atmospheric environments.
It can carry up to 24 fully armed combat units.
After browsing through the specifications of the Fides-Class and Puffin transport craft, Samuel Young shifted his focus to the progress of the space station's preparations.
In reality, when the first Selene-Class transport ship launched, Atlas had already nearly completed its frigate research plans.
Moreover, with the space station's production lines and shipyards fully operational, Atlas' shipbuilding speed had become as fast as "churning out dumplings."
Previously, some military enthusiasts speculated that while Atlas publicly announced the existence of seven warships, there could be more in secret. And indeed, that was the case.
Apart from the seven warships docked at the space station, two Selene-Class transport ships were actively patrolling Earth's orbit, no longer hidden, aiding in maintaining order and deterring nations.
Since they had already revealed their space fleet to the world, there was no longer a need to "hide cards." It was time to show their strength and begin the full integration of the main universe's society.
Samuel Young had been waiting for just such an opportunity.
As for Universe Zero-Seven (Terrila), he had entrusted it entirely to Dorn, who had come of age, while Vulkan, along with the younger Leman, Fulgrim, and Angron, had returned with him to the main universe.
Vulkan and the three younger Primarch sons would also be participating in this raid.
However, even after Saint Giles left, Samuel Young's brow remained furrowed, his expression stern and serious.
He trusted his sons and the company's combat personnel. He was also confident that the main cannons of the Fides-Class and Selene-Class ships would create a breach in the Reaper mothership.
Yet, despite Atlas' highly trained personnel and the safety net of the [Reset] skill, Samuel Young knew all too well that the casualty numbers in space battles often far exceeded those of any previous conflict.
Seeing that the preparations were progressing smoothly, Samuel Young turned his attention to the Death Compensation Plan for fallen personnel and the Latest Bonus and Benefits Plan, Version C, for combat units.
Not long after, a Luna transport craft took off from Atlas' military base outside the suburbs of Seattle, quickly ascending at a 50-degree angle toward low Earth orbit.
In the transport craft's cargo bay, forty Thunder Warriors, wearing prototype power armor with helmet monitors emitting a faint golden glow, stood ready.
In the troop bay on the second floor, Saint Giles sat near the cockpit, wings folded, body wrapped tightly in armor. His eyes were closed as he rested, and across his knees lay the Imperial Spear his father had just given him.
Suddenly, a voice broke the silence.
"Hey, white-feather, what do you think our brother's nickname should be? Do you think his wings will get in the way? Oh, and does he need to use a hairdryer to dry them after a bath? If—?"
An ill-timed comment echoed through the troop bay, causing Saint Giles to subtly frown.
The speaker was Leman, sitting nearby.
This one-year-old Primarch, with slightly messy hair, was clad in a nanotech battle suit and mythril armor custom-made by the research division.
With long white hair and a handsome face, Fulgrim sat to his left, while the black-haired, gentle-looking Angron sat to his right.
"Shut up!" Fulgrim quickly raised a hand, physically stopping Leman from continuing his chatter.
"This guy..." Angron shook his head, helpless.
"Heh." Sitting across from the three Primarchs, Vulkan chuckled softly.
Even seated, his robust physique was hard to conceal. Vulkan knew his brother Leman meant no harm.
However, Vulkan had a feeling that Leman might have been influenced by their father's fervent and loyal "follower," Leoya, becoming a bit too chatty.
The four of them, along with Dorn in Terrila, got along well, but Vulkan wasn't sure what their elder brother, who had been helping their father the longest, would think.
Vulkan glanced toward the cockpit. Seeing that Saint Giles remained calm and composed, he set aside his concerns and mentally prepared himself for the impending mission.
The cabin began to tremble slightly, indicating that the Luna transport craft was exiting the atmosphere and heading for low Earth orbit, about 200 kilometers above the ground.
After some time passed, the pilot's announcement came over the intercom:
"Attention, we are approaching the military docking bay of the space station. Please prepare for the transition back into a gravity environment."
Hearing this, Saint Giles opened his eyes, turned slightly, and addressed his brothers, meeting them for the first time in the real world:
"The moment we set foot on the space station's deck, the raid begins. From then on, you will follow my command. Understood?"
"Understood!"
