Chapter 125: [125]: To The Ruins

"…Ten billion Jenny…"

Upon hearing that number, Gon's eyes lost all light. He collapsed onto the ground as if his soul had left his body.

"…Pull yourself together, Gon!" Killua grabbed his shoulders and shook him. "Didn't this guy say something about a ruin? Ruins usually have tons of treasure! If we find some and sell them, we'll have ten billion in no time!"

He tried to use words to revive his fallen friend.

"!" Gon instantly regained his spirit.

"Take us with you! We want to go to the ruin!"

He rushed up to Cyr, grabbed his hand, and started shamelessly pleading.

Honestly, he was just like a little animal—everything about him was so direct.

"There's no guarantee we'll find anything in the ruin…" Cyr casually pulled his hand free. "For all we know, someone else might've already taken everything before we even get there."

And with that, he poured a bucket of cold water over the two boys' enthusiasm.

"…That's fine! Let's just give it a shot!" Gon, unfazed, persisted stubbornly.

"…Alright, fine. Let's go together." Cyr spoke lazily, standing up to leave.

"What? You're going now?" Killua and Gon stared blankly.

"Yeah. You guys coming or not?" Cyr asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Right now?!" Gon scratched his cheek.

They were still in their casual home clothes… and they hadn't even said goodbye to Aunt Mito yet.

Realizing this, Gon immediately grabbed Killua and sprinted back home, tossing a sentence over his shoulder as they ran—

"Wait for us! We'll be right back!"

"You have to wait for us!" he pleaded.

---

Just thirty minutes later, the two boys returned, properly dressed and having already said their goodbyes.

A small airship was parked at the edge of the forest. As soon as they boarded, it could take off immediately.

---

Inside the Airship

Gon sat on the couch, ignoring the tea and snacks in front of him. Instead, he clutched his teacup and shifted seats—moving right onto the armrest of Cyr's sofa.

Staring at him intensely, Gon finally voiced the burning question in his mind.

"Cyr, do you know what kind of game Greed Island is?" His eyes sparkled with curiosity.

Anything related to his father, Ging Freecss, filled him with endless fascination and a deep desire to explore.

Cyr thought for a moment before replying.

"From what I remember… it's a game where people can actually die. Meaning, if you die inside the game, you die in real life too."

"A game where people can die?!" Gon and Killua exclaimed in unison.

One looked shocked.

The other looked excited.

"What kind of game could it be…" Gon murmured, deep in thought.

A game so dangerous it could kill someone in the real world? And what role did his father play in it?

His gaze turned distant as he pondered.

"Cyr, do you know Ging? Ging Freecss—my dad." Gon suddenly asked.

"Heard of him, but never met him in person." Cyr shook his head. "Your dad's pretty famous, though."

"Ging Freecss, a Two-Star Ruins Hunter. He's made major discoveries across multiple fields. His achievements are enough to qualify him as a Three-Star Hunter, but he never applied because he found it too much of a hassle…"

Beside them, the blond-haired young man scrolled through his phone, reading off Ging's profile.!

"His name is even on the underworld's 'Do Not Mess With' list." The voice was cold and indifferent.

"…As expected of Ging," Gon muttered in admiration.

The more he chased after his father, the more he realized just how exceptional the man was.

Someone that outstanding… was his dad.

So how could he give up? How could he just accept defeat? If he gave up so easily, what right did he have to keep following in his father's footsteps?

"Speaking of which, Cyr, how did you get so strong? You're only a few years older than us, right? Teach me!" Gon changed the topic with a grin.

"…Can't teach you," Cyr shook his head.

Unless they also transmigrated and got bound to a system… a system that granted them cheats.

Of course, they'd better pray their system was a reliable one—not like his, which not only dropped him in the wrong location but also came with broken abilities and built-in debuffs.

"Aww, come on~" Gon sighed in disappointment.

"Just wait. Give us a year or two—when we're your age, we definitely won't be any weaker than you! We might even be stronger!" Killua smirked, full of confidence.

"I like the confidence—clap, clap," Cyr said, applauding casually.

That instantly made Killua's hackles rise.

What was with that 'Sure, keep dreaming' expression?!

"I won't be standing still either," Cyr continued, a smirk playing on his lips. "While you guys are getting stronger, I'll be getting stronger too. And at an even faster rate, so…"

He reached out, pressing a hand onto Killua's head, his grin turning sharp.

"Looks like you'll only ever see my back."

"No way! I'm gonna catch up and surpass you!" Killua clenched his fists, a fiery determination blazing in his eyes.

"Mhm, sure. Good luck with that," Cyr replied half-heartedly.

"Hey—" Killua's eye twitched.

"Alright, alright…" Gon quickly stepped in before Killua exploded. "By the way, Cyr, where exactly is this underwater ruin you mentioned?" He skillfully changed the topic.

"In the polar sea. At our current speed, we should reach it in about a week," Cyr estimated.

"I can't wait…" Gon murmured excitedly.

He had to get into Greed Island. Whether by buying it himself or through some other method, he'd figure it out.

Somehow, he just knew—he'd find more clues about Ging there.

Killua fell silent too, his expression thoughtful.

---

One Week Later

The airship hovered over the vast ocean, its doors opening.

"So… how are we getting down?" Killua stood at the edge, peering down at the deep blue water below. He turned to look at Cyr.

"Eat this, and you'll be able to go down just fine," Cyr gestured toward Maro, who promptly pulled out a small box and started handing out capsules.

"What's this?" Gon examined the two strange pills he had just received.

"One lets you breathe freely underwater," Cyr explained casually before popping one into his own mouth without hesitation.

"And this one?" Gon held up the second capsule.

"That one prevents pressure damage when we reach the ocean floor. You don't wanna get crushed, right?" Cyr added lazily.

Honestly, he didn't even need an oxygen supply. If worst came to worst, he could just teleport out of the water. But for safety's sake—and to avoid dealing with annoying water pressure—these pills were a good backup.

Hunter-world technology really was convenient.

"I'm going first," Cyr said, stepping forward without hesitation.

His body vanished from sight—

And the next second, the ocean surface rippled violently, a massive impact crater forming in the water.

"He just jumped straight down?!" Killua's expression stiffened as he turned to look at Gon, who had already followed suit without hesitation.

Did they always play this recklessly?

"I'm going too!" Gon took a deep breath to steady himself before leaping.

"…Seriously, these reckless idiots." Killua sighed, rubbing his temples in exasperation. But in the end, he stepped forward—

"No way I'm getting left behind."

And with that, he jumped.
