Chapter 282: Sequence 9.
Hermione stared at the neon blue concoction in front of her with a little worry.
'Will it work?'
'...Mr. Error is a True God…he surely won't make any mistakes…'
'Right?'
"Nervous after coming so far Miss Granger?" Professor McGonagall asked by placing her hand on Hermione's shoulder.
She'd mellowed out a little having accepted the fate that Hermione was about to become a Beyonder and enter a world similar to hers. It took her a couple of weeks but she'd done it with motivation from her colleagues and Loki's example.
"Don't worry about losing control, Miss Granger. I will be right by your side and help you through everything that is going to happen."
McGonagall's calm steady tone brought some confidence into Hermione's slightly trembling body. With a strained smile, she spoke with some confidence, "Then I'll be in your care, Professor McGonagall."
McGonagall smiled and nodded.
Hermione gripped the small flask in front of her and in a single movement brought it to her lips. The neon blue concoction slipped into her mouth, slowly at first and all at once like a chain being whipped.
With the disappearance of the concoction, Hermione felt something thick slip through her gullet and then land in her stomach.
It felt heavy and hot.
She could feel her body burning up but before the concoction could do anything else to her it vanished for a moment before being replaced by another that instantly cooled her down.
The cooling feeling slowly grew stronger and stronger, her fingers first trembled, then her lips quivered and her teeth clattered, eventually, the tips of her hair started to freeze into ice like she was in a frozen tundra.
"What's happening to me, professor!?" Hermione asked with slight worry as she gripped the table in front of her to maintain her balance.
"I understand you're nervous Miss Granger, but I suggest you listen to my voice and do exactly as I say."
Hermione quickly nodded.
"Please close your eyes and divert all your focus on a singular object, a spherical orb of light would do."
Hermione closed her eyes and began to imagine exactly what Professor McGonagall asked her to. This wasn't the first time she'd been given this instruction, Daphne and Loki had both told her about this too. Even Mr. Error had given her a short letter written by her hidden 'benefactor' that mentioned it.
She was as prepared as she could be. But there was still a hesitance in her mind that emerged because of what Mr. Error had planned for her.
The outline of a white ball of light came up in her vision and began to take precedence over everything else in her mind.
Her mind which was a sea of chaos just a few moments earlier was now turning into a still lake.
It felt like she'd suddenly become distanced from the happenings of her mind. Like she could see exactly where and how each ripple originated. It didn't take her long to achieve perfect stability causing the mutations that had recently occurred on her to fall off.
The temperature began to rise once again and colour returned to her skin while the ice that had formed around her began to sublimate into vapour.
"You have gained control over yourself, Miss Granger. You can open your eyes slowly now by reminding your mind to exit the state of cogitation now."
Having heard this Hermione slowly reminded her subconscious that it was alright to get out of cogitation.
Her mind which was a still lake slowly started to ripple and turned into a calm sea front once again. Everything still looked chaotic but it was rhythmic and much more manageable now.
As soon as Hermione opened her eyes Professor McGonagall's emerald green eyes came into view.
"Did I do it, Professor?!" Hermione asked with a hint of nervousness.
McGonagall gave her one last look from top to bottom and once she was happy with her examination she nodded with a soft smile.
"Yes. Miss Granger, you've done it. You've become a beyonder."
Hermione instantly let out a clear sigh of relief that she didn't know she was holding.
A smile blossomed on her face too and she bowed lightly while thanking Professor McGonagall, "Professor thank you for helping me!!!"
"Oh! Do not worry about it. I was only doing my best as your new mentor."
Hermione smiled but shook her head and thanked Professor McGonagall sincerely.
Meanwhile, in the sefirah castle, Loki eyed the floating neon blue potion that was in front of him.
"What do I do with this now?"
"Give it to someone? Sell it in the black market?"
"Eh…I'll keep it with me for a while. Maybe I can find a use for it."
Using a random container Loki placed the entire potion he'd conveniently replaced with the Sequence 9 Apprentice pink bubbling potion, into it and tossed it into the pile of random stuff he'd obtained over the years.
The entire series of events played past Loki's mind as he thought to check to see if he'd made any mistakes during the entire operation.
Loki'd gotten Hermione to pray to him the night before she'd been given the potion by Professor McGonagall and pray mentally once again when she was about to take the potion.
This allowed him to enter the Sefirah Castle quickly and use his connection to her through the prayer to steal the potion in her stomach and replace it with his own concoction by blessing her with it.
The entire operation was nearly instantaneous and very quick with no room for, as funny as it sounds, any errors or mistakes.
Loki used the moment of the potion interacting with the body, the moment when it turned illusory and became a part of the entire body waiting to be digested by acting to change the potions so that Professor McGonagall who was most definitely using Spirit Vision wouldn't spot anything wrong with the entire process.
He did it by swiping his hand and stealing the rune of the potion that attached itself to Hermione's body after she consumed it through the window to the real world created by the prayer to Mr. Error.
"Glad it worked."
"Now all that needs to work is Mione's divination when she finally learns how to do various divinations from either Daphne and me or Professor McGonagall herself."
'Hehe…who would've thought that I could fool for a third time, Professor McGonagall.'
As Loki was drowning in narcissistic comments Hermione who was in the girls' lavatory folded her hands into a prayer and spoke softly.
"The Error that does not belong to this era."
"The Mysterious Ruler above the Grey Fog."
"The one who walks the veiled path lost to history."
"I thank you for your loving grace."
"I thank you for helping me smoothly take my first steps as a Beyonder."
With her prayer done, Hermione left the washroom after flushing and washing her hands.
"We can begin learning more now Professor!" Hermione said with a smile.
Loki who had just received another prayed simply blanketed it in his spirituality before speaking-
"I'm Aware."
After closing his connection with Hermione's crimson star, Loki looked at the few other stars and then narrowed his eyes on Snape's.
'....I hadn't expected 'Adam' to figure out about my little club so soon…'
'I hope he doesn't interfere…or do anything stupid…'
'It would be good to collaborate with him if possible…he might be able to help me set up my own advancement rituals…'
'I could also help him set up Harry's advancement rituals…by pretending to be Gehrman Sparrow or another one of Mr. Error's blessed or something.'
'I'm sure having a person on the inside would make his job easier…'
'But…I need to make sure I don't get caught up in his…schemes.'
