Chapter 278: Tarot Club : Misunderstandings (1).
The month ended smoothly with no troubles popping up.
Loki fooled McGonagall and Snape into believing that he had been given the Melee scholar potion by Nicolas Flamel who he'd asked for help through a simple letter requesting that he wanted to keep his pathway a secret.
But that was a story for another time.
Hermione extensively discussed with Daphne and Loki the pathway she should pick and they slowly ruled out various pathways based on Hermione's preferences.
And from the list of pathways and their corresponding teachers, Loki benefited as much as Hermione, because it allowed him to confirm the pathways of all the teachers at Hogwarts.
The main professors, the heads of houses, Professor McGonagall, Professor Flitwick, Professor Sprout and Professor Snape were of the Mystery Pryer, Savant, Planter, and the Apothecary pathway.
Loki estimated they were all at least demigods since he was sure Professor Snape was one.
Of the auxiliary professors, Hagrid was of the warrior pathway and Sybill Trelawney was of the Reader pathway.
Not much was mentioned about the other professors and Loki guessed that was because they were most likely not holders of a unique pathway or even demigods of their respective pathways.
The easiest to eliminate was the Warrior pathway since Hermione didn't want to become a fighter.
Next, she eliminated the planter and the apothecary pathways since she wasn't very interested in the field of herbology or potion-making.
And given her dislike for the subject of divination and her attitude towards Trelawney in the third year she gave up on the reader pathway even though she loved reading books.
This left Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick for her to choose.
And after debating very much and asking a bunch of questions to both the teachers and her fellow helpers Hermione came to a conclusion in her bed unable to sleep on Sunday midnight.
'Well, I have to stay awake for the Tarot Club meeting anyway.'
'*sigh* I hope I don't get smote by Mr. Error for not choosing his help.'
'Wouldn't this waste the sacrifice of whoever wanted me to choose the unknown potion?'
'...whatever…if they were someone I could trust, they'd probably tell me about it themselves, instead of hiding behind curtains.'
Giving the clock on her bed one last glance as it struck midnight, Hermione went over the speech she'd prepared to reject Mr. Error and collapsed into the bed with her eyes closed, pretending to be asleep so that she wouldn't startle anyone else in her room.
A flood of crimson red filled Hermione's vision as a grey fog rolled in all around her.
Almost immediately she found herself standing along with five other people in front of their giant chairs around the giant table at whose head a figure shrouded in grey fog was sitting.
Hermione immediately bowed with diligence, "Good Evening Mr. Error."
Everyone else followed Hermione and greeted Loki without delay before they all sat down on their respective chairs after Loki nodded slowly.
"I have good news for you today." Loki started the meeting causing a ripple of silence to spread in the minds of the three people before him.
'Good news?'
Having gained everyone's attention, Loki spoke calmly, "A new member will be joining us today, he is my blessed and he hopes you treat him just as you've been treating each other, with comradery."
Loki pointed opposite to himself and caused everyone to turn around to look behind them.
Since Loki was the centre of attention till now, no one had realised that there was another person sitting behind them so no one had seen him till now.
The person shrouded in fog like them all and hidden by a mirage stood up and spoke in a hoarse tone that was hard to identify, "You can call me Mr. World. I'm open to accepting missions around the area I currently live in, which is Great Britain-"
'Mr. World is British? Did he study in Hogwarts?' Hermione thought.
"-I accept cash, both muggle and wizarding, Beyonder ingredients, Beyonder Characteristics, and also help with my missions as payment. I'm also a famed crafter so if you give me the right materials or money, you can get a pretty sweet item out of it."
"I hope all of you that are part of this gathering, learn the greatness of Mr. Error just like I did."
With the short introduction, Mr. World sat back down in his seat and looked around at everyone to see if they wanted to say something to him.
"Good Evening Mr. World, no offence but I'm sorry I didn't see you earlier." Dominic politely said once Loki's illusionary projection finished speaking.
"None taken."
However, in Hermione's mind there was something else going on, 'Was this person who Mr. Error was referring to the last time he gave me that offer?'
'But from the faint outline of his body and posture, he doesn't seem to be a person I recognise…'
'And his voice…I've never heard of such a person before.'
'Did he use an enchanted item to change his looks and voice?'
'Or do I really have a stalker?'
'Eww…'
Meanwhile, 'Why's Mione's most prominent feeling disgust after seeing Mr. World?' Loki wondered.
Unknown to Mr. Devil what his colleagues were thinking, he spoke softly from his seat.
"You said you were a crafter? Can you give me an example of what you can craft?"
Mr. World looked at Mr. Devil as if he was analysing him for a few seconds before he spoke again, "Mr. Devil right? Sorry, I don't know everyone's names right now so it took me a moment. I can craft anything short of giving life to an object."
"So you're of the savant pathway?"
"Sorry, I cannot answer that. Do you have any requisitions for me?"
Mr. Devil looked at Mr. World for a few seconds before he said, "I need an item that can allow me to confound anyone."
Loki made Mr. World think by staring off into the distance for a bit before he turned back and nodded, "I can do that, but given how long the item has to last, you might have to return the item to me to recharge it."
"How much?" Mr. Devil instantly asked.
"Eh~ about three hundred galleons will give you a few weeks with it."
Loki heard Hermione suck a sharp breath but remained firm in controlling his illusory puppet.
Mr. Devil thought for a few seconds before he spoke softly with a nod, "Done. But how are you going to send me the item?"
"Ah-" Mr. World looked at Loki directly and spoke softly, "Lord may I sacrifice the item for you to bestow directly to Mr. Devil?"
Loki stayed silent for a few seconds before nodding, "You may."
Mr. World *sighed* in relief and looked back at Mr. Devil, "This way shouldn't be a problem right? You can pray to Mr. Error and he will give you the item while you give him the appropriate amount. All while our identities are never revealed?"
As Mr. Devil and Mr. World were talking to each other, Dominic on the side had a strange thought, 'Didn't Mr. Error tell us he was a heretic related to you-know-who?'
'Then why is he helping him?'
But then an even stranger thought floated through his mind.
'Oh! Is Mr. Error using his blessed to send Mr. Devil a faulty item that will kill him in the end by malfunctioning!?'
'Brilliant!'
Mr. World nodded and finalised the deal with Mr. Devil at three hundred pounds and Loki swept his gaze over Dominic and Hermione.
'Why's Dominic's predominant expression adoration? Who is he adoring so much? Hermione? …that's…'
'Is he…?- No. I'm sure it's something else. Maybe he was reminded of his grandma or something.'
'Or maybe a super hero! Yeah, he probably feels that Mr. World is a great person.'
'Are there even superheroes in the Wizarding world?'
'I mean there was Lockhart…'
