Chapter 199.2
I frowned.
“Why are you asking that all of a sudden?”
“Just… If you have a contract with a demon god that’s as strong as a 10-body one, it must be hard for you, right?”
I shared with Collen some of the facts I learned from the castle of Siebel.
The experiments done on Siebel’s body. One of the main perpetrators being Collen’s father… The reason Siebel hated the former Duchess. The reason Collen has to kill to live.
Then, Collen just chuckled. ‘Yes, I thought so.’
‘Collen, did you already notice?’
Things about his fate and such.
“Why aren’t you sleeping at this hour?”
“I keep having strange dreams.”
“Another nightmare?”
Collen leaned closer, looking worried.
I nodded slightly.
“Is it a dream with Siebel?”
“It’s even more terrifying.”
“What is it?”
I bit my lip.
“It’s usually Baal.”
“This one?”
At Collen’s gesture, Baal appeared with a splash.
I reached out to Baal.
The serpent-like Baal brushed against my fingertips.
“Are you scared of this guy?”
“I’m not scared anymore. I’ve been seeing Baal since I was little.”
But the problem is dreaming of Baal appearing in places he shouldn’t be.
‘I dreamt of Baal following me everywhere in the hospital room from my past life.’
Whether dreaming of a big snake is a good or bad dream, I’m not sure.
“Actually, that’s not the nightmare. The other nightmare… I can’t even describe.”
“Tell me. Your mental health is important. You’ve been through a lot.”
Strangely, I can’t lie when I look into Collen’s eyes.
“It’s weird. I keep dreaming of killing you. I’m so sorry, Dad…”
I held Collen’s hand with a tearful face.
Am I still not free from Siebel?
It feels like his hypnosis is still lingering on me.
‘That can’t be.’
But I keep having the dream.
Shooting Collen in the eyes with the big gun Siebel gave me, just like I shot Siebel.
‘Maybe I feel guilty for killing Siebel?’
The first time I had that dream, I almost threw up.
“What are you saying?”
“You’re my Dad. Isn’t it disrespectful for me to have such dreams?”
“They say dreams often mean the opposite. Seems like you’re really scared of me dying.”
I froze at Collen’s words.
With my knuckles turning white, I clenched the cup.
“Dad…”
“Just stop the nonsense. Nothing’s going to happen.”
Collen roughly ruffled my hair.
“Really, it’s hard to understand what kids think. Is that why you’ve been restless these days?”
“You knew?”
“You always get sulky in various ways. That’s why you’re cute.”
My eyes teared up, but I managed a smile.
“Don’t you get sulky because of Zion?”
“Is he my wife? Why are you bringing him up?”
“If Zion sulked as much as you say he does, you’d have divorced him by now.”
Seeing Collen not denying, I realized he has a conscience. I swallowed that thought.
“I don’t know what you guys fight about, but Zion’s probably right.”
“He’s just an employee, at best.”
“Don’t you have to listen to Zion?”
I desperately held onto Collen’s hand and stared at him.
For a moment, Collen averted his eyes.
“Dad.”
Tears welled up in my eyes. Unable to hold back anymore, I asked:
“Why…”
“…”
“Why aren’t you eating, Dad?”
A heavy silence settled between us.
