How to Be a Dark Hero’s Daughter

Chapter 169.2

The unsolved cases that Cedric brought today were all stories from a few years ago. So, there’s no point in investigating or interviewing anyone.

First, Cedric took me under a bridge to a shantytown.

‘This is… where I used to live.’

The collapsing houses beneath the bridge.

I don’t remember much, but… I think I used to live in a place like this. I hardly have any memories of my mother.

“There’s testimony that a silhouette of a person, dark and wolf-like, ran towards this river. Cedric?”

Suddenly, Cedric was staring at me intently. Oddly, today, his eyes seem more observant.

“What’s wrong?”

“Oh, Leticia looks the prettiest when she’s investigating. I can’t take my eyes off you.”

I pretend not to notice my blushing cheeks.

“Forget it. Let’s move to the next place.”

I headed toward the old warehouse by the river dock.

“There’s a testimony that a werewolf jumped into the water through a window here.”

“Hmm… With this current, even a real wolf would have died, don’t you think?”

“Right?”

I looked at the dark river. Then…

“Someone’s coming.”

Cedric whispered.

“Hehe, hey, did you have some fun today?”

“Huh? Who left the warehouse door open?”

Cedric gently covered my mouth.

We pressed ourselves against the wall. Cedric’s body was tightly against mine.

I realized I was nestled in Cedric’s arms.

‘Ah, I can hear his heartbeat.’

He really has broad shoulders.

The men laughed and chatted while smoking before leaving. The warehouse was quiet again.

It felt like even the sound of my heartbeat was audible.

“Are you okay?”

“…This is truly a mysteriously romantic date course.”

Cedric chuckled. It was a bit of a blow to my pride, but today’s date was fun.

‘This place feels familiar.’

The next stop was the sewer.

I recognized the place. When I really had nowhere to go, I lived here with Walter, a place with a foul smell.

The place where I took care of Walter when he got hurt.

‘I don’t like this place.’

I urged Cedric, and we left. I had a strange feeling of discomfort. The adventure in search of traces of the werewolf reached its last stop.

“I didn’t know there was an abandoned building here.”

“Indeed. It’s quite a sizable mansion.”

Was there such a place in the center of the sewer?

It’s an old abandoned mansion where no one has lived for a very long time. The abandoned mansion looked strange under the oddly-colored moon.

‘But who’s been taking care of the garden?’

After passing through dense vegetation, a dried-up fountain appeared. And around the fountain, magic lights were lit.

“Huh?”

I stopped. It wasn’t someone who deliberately tidied the garden.

The twinkling lights around the fountain. Roses were scattered all over the place set beneath them.

And in the middle of it, a table set with warm-looking food.

‘Wait, is this one of Cedric’s events…?’

I was at a loss for words.

“So, we’ve come to the last whereabouts of the werewolf.”

“Is this some kind of reward event?”

“No, it’s a date event I prepared.”

I bit my lip. Wow, I really felt defeated. Really smart, Cedric. But why has my heart been pounding since earlier?

“Cedric… What’s this strategy?”

“Don’t you like it?”

“Well, I have to admit it’s sweet.”

I smiled slightly. Cedric and I sat side by side, looking at the moon. Cedric poured sweet wine into a glass. All the food was what I liked.

“How was today?”

“It was fun.”

“That’s all?”

Cedric stared at me intently. What does he expect?

“Well… Some places felt familiar.”

“Really?”

“Yes. I also feel strange here. But I know the sewers well.”

“Is that so? Do you really not remember anything?”

Cedric seemed to be hinting at something.

“I don’t remember…?”

Cedric looked a bit disappointed. Oh, did I say something wrong?

‘What is it? What is Cedric expecting?’

It seems like he was expecting a specific answer…

I tilted my head in confusion.
