How I Started a War in a Children's Cartoon

Chapter 31: Meanwhile across the Continent

Across the vast plains and mountains of the eastern shores of Afcari, a small airship sailed the clouds, a small crew on board, heading to one of the three great nations of the continent.

The Isolated Island of Mount Aris, and the Kingdom of Hippogriffia, ruled by Queen Novo.

"I think I'm forgetting, what were we supposed to do once we got there again?" The smallest member of the crew, A grey hedgehog with white quills, asked of the other three members of the ship.

"For the hundredth time, we are going there disguised as researchers for..." A Unicorn with a broken horn scrunched her face in annoyance as she turned to the last two people on the airship, "What's our cover story again?"

"Ufufufu, Dear brother Asterius, did you hear that?" A Green turtle asked, his stumpy legs crossed in a lotus position as he waited patiently for his turn to steer the ship. His black eyes shone with a mischievous glint as he stared at the Hedgehog and Pony.

"I did indeed, Brother dearest Amphion~" Snickered an identical-looking Turtle, his stocky limbs holding on to the wheel of the ship as he steered the flying vessel east, following the compasses and maps laid before him.

"It sounds like the Hothead and the Glutton forgot their mission~" Amphion snickered from his position on the floor beside his brother.

"Oh, what would they ever do without us~" Asterius snickered identically to his brother.

"Will you two shut up and just remind us what we're supposed to be doing?!" The Unicorn yelled at the twin turtles, her horn sparkling with threatening electricity, only to fizzle out immediately after, a pang of pain going down the Unicorn's horn.

"Ufufufu, Of course~" Both of the twin turtles laughed, their voices sounding the same. If it wasn't for the color of the small badge they wore over their heart, the Unicorn doubted she would be able to tell them apart from one another.

Amphion, the Turtle with the blue badge opened his mouth, "We are representatives of the Royal Storm Academy of History and Archeology~"

Asterius, the Turtle with the orange badge, continued from where his brother left off, "We are to get in contact with the Kingdom of Hippogriffia under the guise of researchers sent to document the history and archeology of the nation~"

"To fill the libraries of the academy with the knowledge and histories that haven't left the isolated mountain in centuries~" Amphion returned to speaking, "That is our cover story~ Our badges are identification marks given to Academic researchers~"

The Unicorn scowled as her hoof brushed over the Red badge on the left half of her chest.

"Wow~" The Hedgehog of the group said in wonder, his hand brushing over the yellow badge on his chest, "Imagine all the secret cooking recipes they have there..."

"That's our cover story, what's the real mission." The Unicorn steered the conversation back on topic.

"Oh, Dearest Medea, You need to be patient~" Amphion said with a smile, "After all, some say patience is a virtue..."

"The real mission, Dearest Grubber, Is to get closer to the Rulers of Hippogriffia, learn about the Pearl of Transformation, and keep in contact with His Royal Majesty~" Asterius said, his claws slightly shifting as he corrected the course of the airship.

"We are here to further his grand goals, The true mission must be kept secret~" Amphion gave a closed eye smile to the non-turtle duo.

"After all~" Asterius followed.

"Thunder only follows after lightning~" The twins said simultaneously, only to snicker to themselves in that creepy manner twins always do as if they know a funny joke that only they are in on.

"Creeps..." Fizzlepop Berrytwist, now going by the pseudonym Medea, scoffed to herself before she returned into the ship, preparing to sleep as much as she could in order to not need to be around the two Turtles.

"Hey... Why don't I get a cool nickname?" The Hedgehog, Grubber, asked the two Turtles.

"That, Dearest Grubber, is because you are merely here as assistance~" Amphion said with a smile.

"While we, Our Dearest Selves, Are members of The Storm King's elite unit~" Asterius told the hedgehog, a sly smile on his green face.

"The Argonauts~" The Twins said with reverence.

"That makes us the ones in charge of this mission~" Asterius said.

"Do not forget it~" Amphion smiled at him from his spot on the floor beside his brother.

Grubber shuddered at the way the two turtles were acting, almost forgetting that the two reptile were over three time his age.

"They look so young for a pair of people well into their eighties..." He reminded himself of their age before waddling his way back inside the ship, preparing to follow Medea's much less creepy example and go to sleep.

The less time he had to spend with the twins, the better.
