The Authorities of the Herrscher of Flame and the Herrscher of Ice appeared similar yet were fundamentally different.

At least, Xia Chen couldn't directly hinder the Herrscher of Flame from manipulating molecular motion. Instead, he could only induce radioactive decay in surrounding molecules, releasing heat to achieve a 'solidifying' effect.

Nevertheless, he wasn't a physicist; there was no need for him to fully comprehend these intricacies. All he needed to know was that his Authority and that of the Herrscher of Flame did not cancel each other out, resulting in a continuous dance of ice and fire across the Australian continent.

In reality, the Herrscher of Flame's combat capabilities were not particularly strong.

During their confrontation, Xia Chen noticed that the Herrscher of Flame seemed strained and clumsy, as if her actions were being restrained by another consciousness.

However, due to the immense Honkai Energy within her, Xia Chen struggled to gain the upper hand.

The erratic flames relentlessly sought to scorch his skin, forcing him to counter with freezing cold. Consequently, water continuously evaporated, leading to its depletion across the continent.

The Herrscher of Flame's focus was not on combat but rather on persistently destroying the land. Despite an additional presence attempting to hinder her, it proved futile.

Xia Chen himself appeared like a tantalizing feast, stimulating the Herrscher's consciousness and suppressing her human awareness.

"Let there be destruction."

"Destruction!"

Her voice echoed, akin to a demonic incantation. The people of Australia scattered in panic, despite the United Nations' efforts to organize evacuations. With millions needing to flee, it was impossible to swiftly evacuate everyone.

Honkai transformed into the grim reaper, commencing its slaughter.

Despite Xia Chen's relentless attempts to halt this devastation, they felt insignificant at best. His only option was to subdue the Herrscher more rapidly.

Coincidentally, this chaos was precisely what the Herrscher of Flame intended to trap Xia Chen.

"Be my dinner."

An even hotter blaze enveloped Xia Chen, causing his blood circulation to accelerate rapidly.

The heat and his desires surged like flames bursting forth.

Consequently, the wind and snow he controlled became more frenzied.

Xia Chen had fallen into her trap.

The true power of the Herrscher of Flame never lay in mere flames but rather in exacerbating extreme conditions further.

Initially, she used fire to force Xia Chen to extinguish it with ice, manipulating winds to cool down the surroundings. Then, by intensifying the flames repeatedly, she evaporated moisture, making Xia Chen believe her intent was destruction.

Thus, Xia Chen responded with stronger blizzards to halt this perceived devastation and moved closer towards her.

Subsequently, the Herrscher employed her Authority to continuously accelerate the motion of the ice he created, even restricting his movements.

Xia Chen had to admit that among all the Herrschers he encountered, the Herrscher of Flame was the most adept at utilizing her Authority.

Her combat style did not rely on human memories but rather her familiarity with her Authority.

She continued advancing towards Xia Chen.

"Heh heh heh, become my dinner."

At this moment, the Herrscher of Flame, having consumed another consciousness, dropped any pretenses.

Drawing upon Himeko's combat memories, she launched fierce attacks against Xia Chen.

While Xia Chen possessed impressive agility, the blizzard hindered his movements, forcing him to retreat repeatedly under the Herrscher of Flame's onslaught.

Despite now having physical capabilities comparable to an Imperial Honkai Beast, it offered little advantage against a Herrscher.

In fact, to the Herrscher of Flame, Xia Chen represented a high-sugar, calorie-rich feast, and coincidentally, she was famished.

Fortunately, he still had Sirin.

Xia Chen increased the distance between himself and the Herrscher of Flame.

"You don't seem curious about my abilities," Xia Chen couldn't resist asking.

Was it because the previous civilization's Herrschers differed from those of the current era? She didn't label him as a traitor nor questioned his Authority.

It appeared that she could discern Xia Chen did not originate from this epoch.

"Oh? When humans eat eggs, do they bother to ask which hen laid them?" Her response found his question amusing.

Clearly, Xia Chen's origins held no significance for her. He had hoped to seize this opportunity to understand the System's background, but communication seemed impossible between them.

"Alright then, never mind."

Xia Chen abandoned any further attempts at dialogue.

He drew the Red Sakura.

Sakura Petal Fall!

While the Herrscher of Flame was scheming against him, it didn't mean he lacked options. Combining the power to shift between reality and illusion with Sakura Petal Fall made delivering a fatal blow to the Herrscher's heart quite feasible.

Just as he prepared to end her life, someone intervened.

"Let's talk, shall we?"

The voice belonged to Kevin, naturally acting as the messenger.

[ You have established cooperation with Fire Moth/MOTH to recover the Herrscher of Flame. ]

[With the information you provided, Dr. Mei initiated experiments on Virtual Interference.]

[Herrscher of Flame was enlisted by Dr. Mobius for these experiments.]

[The Schicksal World experience has concluded. You can permanently retain the following items and extract them to the real world. Congratulations! You have obtained 2x Virtual Interference Devices. Extract now?]

[Your Honkai Energy compatibility has increased.]

When Xia Chen woke up, he felt his mind throbbing.

In this simulation scenario, the battle with Herrscher of Flame was not the most crucial aspect. In fact, his gains from that confrontation were minimal.

Instead, Mei's research held paramount importance for him.

The Virtual Interference Experiment...

This endeavor aimed to influence the entanglement between the Imaginary Tree and the Herrschers. According to Mei, ever since the tragedy involving the Herrscher of Death, she had envisioned a way to free Herrschers from the Imaginary Tree, allowing them absolute self-will.

Xia Chen's arrival helped her gain deeper insights into the nature of Virtual Beings. This included forging Divine Keys, where Xia Chen provided critical data, albeit at the cost of sacrificing his own body.

Of course, Xia Chen did not leave without benefits.

Aside from obtaining two Virtual Interference Devices, he also learned about the differences between the current era's Herrschers and those from the previous civilization. These insights were all gleaned from the materials provided by Mei.

In the previous civilization era, there was no concept of the Will of Honkai.

At least, during their prolonged battles, Fire Moth never encountered such consciousness.

Whether it had not yet developed or if there were other reasons... Xia Chen couldn't determine.

Similar to how the Herrscher of Flame wasn't surprised by his existence, she didn't perceive him as her kindred.

It's akin to dinosaurs and chickens; despite originating from the same lineage, they have evolved vastly apart over time.

Clearly, as civilizations progressed, even Honkai underwent changes.

Although the current era's Herrschers can be seen as a cycle repeating from the previous one, some transformations seem to have occurred. At least based on the outcomes, this era has numerous Herrschers possessing absolute will.

Xia Chen couldn't help but form a hypothesis:

["By crossing over to the previous civilization era and providing data for MEI's Virtual Disturbance Experiment, I inadvertently influenced the consciousness of this era's Herrschers..."]

"What a terrifying grandfather paradox."

Deciding not to dwell on it further, Xia Chen glanced at the time—it was already noon.

There wasn't much worth reviewing from this simulation, so he headed straight to the training ground.

Soon after, Kiana challenged him to a duel.

"I challenge you, mister! Then, I'll take Mei back from your clutches!"

"I'm not, I didn't, don't make things up!"
