Chapter 1041: A New Beginning (4)
At the same time, the Muggle soldiers surrounding the Palace of Versailles were also aware of the heavy pressure on their heads, which caused them to tremble as if doomsday had arrived.
"My God, this isn't a dream, is it?" a Muggle officer stammered, his gun-hand shaking and his eyes bulging.
Dominic was not faring any better. His eyes were filled with shock, but he did not forget his place. The moment he regained his composure, he turned around and shouted at the top of his lungs, "It's a tornado! The mission is cancelled! Retreat!"
Dominique's desperate cry soon woke the stunned French soldiers, who fled without hesitation. No one was arrogant enough to think they could stand against the might of heaven and earth.
Behind them, a huge tornado, tens of meters in diameter and connected to the clouds, was standing in the huge square in front of the Palace of Versailles, and it was heading straight for them!
Wherever the storm passed, tiles shattered and rose, trees were uprooted, pools of water poured in, doors and windows exploded, and everything around was sucked into the terrifying tornado.
The dozen or so helicopters in the sky were the first to suffer, losing control completely under the wind pressure created by the huge storm. The pilots inside could only watch as they were swept away, leaving behind cries of despair…
The abandoned tanks and armored vehicles on the ground were then caught up in the violent tornadoes, and although the several-tonne beasts were a solid and convincing fortress on the battlefield, they were powerless against such a massive storm, and were easily swept hundreds of metres into the air before being smashed into scrap metal.
Was this… magic?! The potion masters present were stunned by what they saw.
Although Fran, Walker, and the others knew that Ivan's strength was extraordinary, they did not expect him to be able to condense such a terrifying storm with a raise of his hand. The huge tornado in front of them had refreshed their understanding of magic…
Such power… even the legendary Great Wizard Merlin could not compare, right?
While the wizards were in shock, the Muggle soldiers below were in despair. Their legs could not outrun the tornado, and they were sucked into it in a matter of seconds.
Fortunately, Ivan was not a homicidal maniac, and wiping out thousands of lives at once was not in keeping with the idea of peaceful coexistence between wizards and Muggles.
The terrifying tornado slowly came to a halt under Ivan's control, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. A large trench had been torn in the ground, and the heavily-armed soldiers were now sprawled on the soft ground where the storm had plowed through.
It has to be said that other than nuclear weapons of super-large yield, human technological weapons are vulnerable to the might of nature…
"Come on, let's go to the Élysée Palace to see the President!" Having dealt with this small problem, Ivan had no intention of staying any longer and immediately used Apparition to head to the next location.
… .
"What did you say? A tornado suddenly appeared outside the Palace of Versailles and attacked our advance guard, and now we've lost contact with everyone?!" In the President's office at the Élysée Palace, President Sydon was stunned when he heard the news, and he almost thought it was an April Fool's joke.
How could there be such a coincidence, and how could there be a tornado in Paris?
Seaton was about to lash out, but the Secretary-General tugged at his sleeve and pointed out of the window in shock.
Seaton turned to look at her strangely, his pupils dilating in shock.
Although it was quite a distance away from the Palace of Versailles, one could still see the huge tornado above the palace from the window… and most importantly, the storm was coming towards them at an extremely fast speed.
It was chaos outside the President's office. Numerous high-ranking officials were fleeing in panic, and Seaton was momentarily flustered. Just as he was about to get excited about the emergency plan, the terrifying storm in the distance suddenly subsided.
The huge tornado vanished before their very eyes…
Seaton breathed a slow sigh of relief, his forehead beaded with cold sweat. He looked around the room at the French wizards, who were dressed in old-fashioned robes, and exclaimed in shock and anger, "What the hell is going on? Don't tell me those evil wizards are behind this?!"
The Saints looked at each other, each with a darker expression than the last, and in the end, the leader offered words of comfort. "Perhaps that is possible…but you need not worry too much, Madam President. I am sure the Leader will deal with these threats for you…"
Seaton frowned and quickly thought of the grim middle-aged man with two-colored eyes who had suddenly appeared in his home three months ago and used a bottle of potion and all kinds of magical powers to show him how powerful a person could be.
Thinking back to the tornado that had disappeared, Seaton was able to picture what had happened. The wizard Grindelwald must have scattered it.
Seaton was relieved to hear this, but a moment later, a deep voice filled the room.
"If by leader you mean Gellert Grindelwald, then I'm afraid he can't help you now…"
"Who's there?!" The Saints reacted immediately, pointing their wands at the door, along with the President's guards.
As everyone watched, the office door slowly opened. To Seaton's surprise, a young boy walked in…
Ivan entered the room and looked around, completely ignoring the dozens of wands and rifles pointing at him. His gaze moved directly to the French President, Seaton. He bowed slightly and spoke politely.
"How do you do, Sir Seaton? I'm the Acting President of the International Confederation of Wizards, and you may call me Hals! Just now, my Aurors received word that a group of wizards with nefarious intentions were attempting to take the French President hostage, so I'm here to help you."
