Chapter 1036: The Final Duel (2)
An invisible magical barrier rose from the ground and instantly enveloped the two of them.
Ivan's face fell. He could feel his magic being hampered, and Grindelwald's momentum was rising again.
A vast amount of magic was pouring out of the ground and into Grindelwald.
"Disappear, Hulse. From now on, I will create a wizarding world of my own, and you will be the final obstacle!" Grindelwald declared, his voice high as he felt the vast amount of magic pouring into his body.
"Go to hell and dream…" Ivan sneered, and when he realised his opponent was getting stronger, he attacked first.
"Wind!" Ivan shouted, reaching out with his wand, and a gust of wind blew through the control room. Numerous tiny wind blades, hidden in the wind, swept toward Grindelwald.
Grindelwald could not see the murderous intent hidden in the wind, but he could clearly sense the danger. He waved his Elder Wand, and one by one, giant statues of angels rose from the ground.
They shone with a metallic lustre, had thick, powerful arms, and were armed with spears, swords, and halberds.
The dense wind blades were like sharp blades that cut into the surface of the angel statue, creating deep wounds. However, under the constant supply of magic, the wounds quickly began to heal.
Just like that, dozens of metal statues, each five or six meters tall, advanced on Ivan through the storm…
"Inndio ~ (fire roaring)" Ivan's expression did not change. A wisp of white flame suddenly ignited from the tip of his wand, and with the help of the storm, it spread into a terrifying white sea of fire in just a few seconds.
The angel statue, which was extremely resilient in the face of the wind blade's corrosion, was extremely fragile in the face of the fierce fire. Its rapid recovery could not keep up with the melting speed, and it was gradually devoured and transformed into fuel for the flames. Finally, the rising fierce fire transformed into a long snake and swallowed Grindelwald.
A solid barrier of magic appeared around Grindelwald, shielding him from the raging flames. The Elder Wand gave a quick shake, and a huge blade of magic flew out of the tip of the wand, creating an ear-piercing sound. The raging sea of fire in front of Grindelwald was instantly split.
This was the Divine Edge Shadowless Curse!
After several confrontations with Ivan, Grindelwald was able to recreate the spell with ease.
Instead of retreating, Ivan advanced, creating a wall of wind in the middle of the battlefield, weakening the powerful blades of magic. The protective rings on his left hand lit up one after another, neutralising the attack.
With less than five meters between them, Ivan took another step forward, and the tip of his wand flashed green.
"Avada Kedavra ~ (Avada Kedavra)"
"Avada Kedavra" (Avada Kedavra) almost at the same time, Grindelwald also swung his wand, and the two dark green beams of light collided with an explosion that sounded like cannonballs colliding.
The turbulent air waves repelled the surrounding flames, forming an absolute space of ten meters.
Supported by a vast amount of magic, the power of the Death Curse was almost at its peak. The intersection of the two spells glowed faintly with a black light, giving off a deathly aura, and continued to expand as the magic continued to flow.
If he was touched by this thing, he would definitely die!
The thought crossed their minds at the same time, but Ivan and Grindelwald, confident in their abilities, did not withdraw their spells. Instead, they continued to channel their magic in an attempt to corner the other.
With the entire Department of Mysteries supporting him, Grindelwald didn't hesitate to increase his magic output, and Ivan wasn't going to back down. The stone was rapidly depleting its reserves of magic, and with the Death Curse in place, Ivan wasn't going to give up the perfect opportunity to kill Grindelwald.
He would not admit defeat in a mere competition of magic power!
The two extremely powerful wands trembled slightly, as if they were competing with each other. They actually took the initiative to draw out the power of the spell. If the two of them did not want to let go just now, they could not easily undo the spell this time.
The black dot moved from side to side until it was inching towards Ivan.
Due to the faint magical barrier within the barrier, Ivan was unable to reverse these minor disadvantages, even though he had as much magic as Grindelwald.
To make matters worse, there was a slight noise and Ivan looked down to see a crack in his wand.
Damn Ollivander…
Ivan cursed under his breath. What happened to using his own bones to create a wand that was supposed to be extremely stable?
He actually made a mistake at such a critical moment…
Ivan wished he could kick some wand-master out of the room, but he knew that Ollivander was probably only speaking in general terms. Any other wand-maker would have gone on strike for casting a spell that was thousands of times more powerful than an adult wizard's.
However, as compared to Grindelwald's Elder Wand, it was clear who was better…
Grindelwald couldn't hear the faint crack of the human bone wand, but he could tell that the black light was rapidly approaching Ivan.
Grindelwald's lips curled into a smile as he tried to see Ivan's desperate face through the spell-beams, only to be met by a pair of strange orange vertical pupils.
This was the trump card that Ivan had been hiding — the Bloodline Magic, [Python's Eye]!
Although Grindelwald had previously received information about this blood magic from Dumbledore's memories, he had never seen Ivan use it in any of their previous encounters, and now that he had, Grindelwald, caught off guard, was instantly struck, his mind drawn to the strange eyes, and his body gradually becoming rigid and dead…
Ivan did not fare well either. In just a few seconds, he was nearly drained of all his magic. Fortunately, he had the Philosopher's Stone to back him up and supply him with magic.
Die!
Ivan roared in his mind as he increased his magic output. Another crack appeared on his wand, and the central black dot of light surged towards Grindelwald…
As death approached, Grindelwald remained motionless. If not for the Elder Wand's frantic efforts to channel its wielder's magic to fight back, Grindelwald would have fallen to Ivan's Death Curse…
