Hogwarts: Please Graduate Soon

Chapter 42: Hogwarts, Please Graduate Soon, Ch 42

Eating gossip is always the second driving force behind human procrastination.

The first is ghs (the idea of "getting good grades").

With a loud shout, the entire Hufflepuff dormitory erupted, a surge of students rushing out, with a few even appearing in their pajamas.

At this moment, Hufflepuff's advantage became evident. They lived in the basement, and the Great Hall was just above them; it didn't take long to reach the battlefield.

Inside the Great Hall, many people had gathered together, and Wayne squeezed into a gap.

Inside, a fierce scuffle was underway, with Malfoy and Harry tangled up in a heap, both of their wands carelessly dropped on the ground, but no one paid them any mind.

Wayne noticed that Toby's descriptive words were quite apt; the two of them were indeed inseparable.

Harry was "stroking" Malfoy's hair while Malfoy "pinched" his ear, exchanging affectionate greetings.

Crabbe and Goyle, Malfoy's two lackeys, wanted to help but were stopped by other Gryffindor students, who sternly reprimanded them.

"What do you think you're doing? This is a sacred duel!"

"Is the honor of pure-blood families nothing but bullying the outnumbered?"

The two, with brains barely as big as a troll's, found this reasoning compelling and decided against intervening, cheering for their leader instead, just like the other little snakes and lions.

Finally, Professor McGonagall arrived, and the little wizards surrounding the scene scattered like birds, hiding far away to watch the spectacle.

When she witnessed this eye-watering scene, Professor McGonagall nearly fainted from anger.

"Potter! Malfoy!

Let go of each other this instant!"

Reluctantly, the two finally released their holds, but their gazes remained filled with longing, their minds fervently communicating with the women in their family trees.

"How dare you!" McGonagall was like a furious lion, while Harry and Malfoy lowered their heads in fear.

"This is just the second week of school! You dare to fight in the Great Hall in front of all these people!"

"Detention! Thirty points from each house!"

"And more, you're both to be confined!"

Ron couldn't help but defend Harry: "Professor, it's Malfoy who..."

"I didn't ask you, Mr. Weasley, and no reason is an excuse for public brawling!"

One glance from McGonagall silenced Ron.

At that moment, Snape arrived, his expression dark enough to leak water, casting an angry look at Malfoy.

Had it been any other student fighting Potter, he would have relished the chance to torment Potter himself.

"Come to my office at seven to deal with the toad carcasses. You'll stay in detention until it's done."

Snape decided the terms of detention, and Professor McGonagall made no objection.

Seeing that the excitement was over, everyone began to disperse, and Wayne found Hermione.

"What happened? Why were they fighting?"

The little witch shook her head. "I don't know; I was in the library and ran here with everyone else."

It seems that even top students couldn't escape the curiosity of gossip.

Just then, the twins, having gathered intel from Ron, came over in high spirits.

"We know! Malfoy thought Harry got expelled, so he mocked Harry furiously, calling him Scarhead, and after some back and forth, they just started fighting."

"That's it?" Wayne scoffed, thinking there would be more juicy details.

...

"Finally over...What a nightmare."

On Friday afternoon, after two Potions classes, Toby wore an expression of having survived a catastrophe.

In class, he had carelessly tossed some pixie droppings into the cauldron, earning himself a severe scolding from Snape and losing five points.

With the point difference between Hufflepuff and Slytherin now reaching 80 points, Snape began to clamp down harder.

Incorrect timing for adding ingredients? Lose points.

Cauldron not heated enough? Lose points.

Not cleaning up the workspace properly? Lose points.

By the end of the class, Hufflepuff had lost more than ten points.

"Why doesn't Professor Sprout favor us?" Hannah, walking beside Wayne, asked in confusion.

"She's already quite partial," Susan Bones quietly reminded her. "Every weekend, Professor Sprout finds people to help in the greenhouse, and most of them are from our house."

"They usually get a few points for it."

"That's not enough," Hannah replied wisely with a huff. "We should learn from Professor Snape, deduct points from the other houses until we're number one."

Wayne looked at her.

Girl, you have a knack for being an assassin.

The badger cubs and the eagle cubs exited the castle, heading to the lawn for flying lessons.

Despite the incident where Neville broke his wrist the day before, it didn't dampen anyone's enthusiasm.

No one thought they were less capable than Neville, as most could hardly tell that he had any potential to be a wizard apart from Herbology class.

They didn't have to wait long before Madam Hooch arrived, managing several large boxes that floated behind her, filled with flying broomsticks.

Her expression was especially serious; it seemed yesterday's commotion had frightened her quite a bit.

Hogwarts' teaching staff could truly be described as a mix of talents. There were good teachers like Professors McGonagall, Sprout, and Flitwick.

And then there was Snape, despite his strong expertise, whose words were as venomous as a snake's.

Not to mention Trelawney, a teacher who was practically useless except when she was in a trance.

One could only describe the situation as chaos.

Clearly, Madam Hooch was not a qualified teacher either.

When students flew up on their own, all she could do was shout, waiting for someone to nearly crash before sending them to the hospital wing.

Given her level, she could only serve as a referee.

However, today it seemed that Madam Hooch had learned her lesson.

The initial steps were the same: have the little wizards call for their brooms, waiting for the brooms to jump into their hands.

Wayne succeeded on the first try, while others had brooms that bounced up or rolled on the ground.

After a few more shouts, the brooms became impatient and nudged them.

After about ten minutes, everyone finally managed to grasp their brooms.

Next, Madam Hooch had them set down their brooms and began guiding them one by one.

It was a slow process, but at least it was much safer.

What reassured her was that although everyone's talent was generally poor, there were no signs of losing control.

Finally, it was Wayne's turn to take the stage.
