Chapter 192 - Mahiro: Are You Perhaps!?
A figure flew across the guild, slamming into one of the pillar.
It stuck there briefly, like a rag doll, before slowly sliding down to the ground.
"Am I seeing things? Did Loki just get sent flying?"
"I think I need some wine!"
"No way... Loki was beaten!"
Everyone stared at Mahiro in disbelief, their eyes wide as they swallowed nervously.
"Mahiro, you didn't just kill Loki, did you?" Hestia asked, her voice trembling with concern as she looked at the motionless Loki.
"Of course not," Mahiro replied with a laugh.
"Oh, right... We can't be killed by mortals," Hestia said, exhaling in relief.
When the gods descended to the lower world, they sealed their Arcanum to experience mortal life and its pleasures.
To ensure their safety, a commandment was made upon: mortals could not directly harm the them.
Even a weapon pressed to a god's skin would leave no injury.
That said, the gods were not entirely invincible.
For example, certain weapons could bypass these commandments and inflict harm, or monsters could be used to attack gods.
"Still, this is odd. you shouldn't have been able to hurt Loki like that," Hestia looked a little puzzled.
"Am I normal?" Mahiro responded with a sly smile.
Hestia was momentarily stunned, then burst into laughter.
"Loki, are you alright?" Ais asked as she approached, crouching to inspect the seemingly unconscious goddess.
"It hurts! It hurts so much!" Loki groaned, suddenly stirring as if awakened from a nightmare. "For a moment, I thought I was heading back to Heaven!"
The sight was comically pitiful.
"Looks like she's fine," Ais concluded, standing back up.
"Ais, I'm injured! Shouldn't you take better care of me?" Loki whined, pretending to be in pain.
Ais, however, ignored her antics, though her eyes lingered on Mahiro with curiosity.
"You're no ordinary adventure, are you?" Loki muttered, rising unsteadily to her feet.
Limping slightly, she approached Mahiro with narrowed eyes. "Even I was fooled!"
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Hestia retorted. "Mahiro only received my Falna today! We're here to register our Familia!"
"Impossible! That kind of strength isn't normal for someone who's just received their Falna!" Loki shot back.
As Orario's twin king, Loki was familiar with the power of adventurers.
Her Familia members ranged from Level 1 to Level 6, and the force Mahiro had displayed was far beyond what a rookie adventurer could achieve.
"Believe what you want," Hestia huffed.
"The guild's receptionist can confirm Mahiro only received his Falna today."
"Is that so?" Loki mused.
Based on Hestia's conviction, she grudgingly conceded the claim was probably true.
Still, Mahiro's power was abnormal.
Was he just exceptionally talented?
"You've beaten me so thoroughly," Loki said with a mock-threatening tone. "Now there's a bond between us."
Mahiro glanced at her indifferently. "If you call that a bond, I should've kicked harder."
Loki immediately ducked behind Ais, her tone turning pleading. "Ais! You can't just stand by! If you don't act, my reputation—and the Loki Familia's will take a hit!"
Ais sighed, her usual calm demeanor slightly strained.
Turning to Mahiro, she said softly, "I'm sorry."
As a member of Loki's Familia, Ais felt compelled to act, especially since the incident involved her god.
If word spread within the Familia, others might intervene and that could lead to even worse consequences for Mahiro.
"Hey, brat, I'll give you a chance," Loki peeked from behind Ais.
"Agree to my terms, and I'll let this slide."
"No thanks," Mahiro replied coolly, not bothering to wait for her to elaborate.
"You won't even hear me out before refusing?" Loki pouted.
"It doesn't matter what you say," Mahiro countered confidently.
"Fine, I'll tell you anyway! Leave Hestia and join my Loki Familia."
"Do that, and I'll forgive you."
