HARRY POTTER :A New Player

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Leveling Up

Here's Chapter 2 of Harry Potter and the Game, titled "Leveling Up", where Harry begins to understand the mechanics of his new reality.

Harry lay sprawled on his cot in the cupboard under the stairs, staring at the glowing blue notification still hovering in front of him.

[Quest Completed: Survive the Dursley Household (Day 1)]

• Complete daily chores (5/5) ✔

• Avoid Dudley's wrath (1/1) ✔

• Find a place to safely read your book (1/1) ✔

Rewards: +5 EXP, +1 to VIT, Minor Healing Potion (1)

He grinned despite himself. "I actually leveled up just by surviving this place," he muttered. "Guess that says a lot."

Excitedly, he opened his Status screen again, noticing the subtle changes.

Harry Potter

Level: 3 (EXP 35/500)

HP: 105/105

MP: 50/50

STR: 2

VIT: 4 (+1)

DEX: 4

INT: 1

WIS: 1

LUC: 3

POINTS AVAILABLE: 1

MONEY: 0£ / 0G 0S 0K

"One free point to spend," Harry mused. His eyes flicked between the available stats. Strength sounded useful, but endurance seemed more practical given the kind of punishment his body took on a daily basis.

"Better safe than sorry," he decided, allocating the point into VIT. Instantly, his health increased, and he felt a tiny bit stronger.

[VIT Increased: 5]

• More stamina

• Faster recovery from injuries

His stomach grumbled in protest. Stats or no stats, he still needed food.

Climbing out of the cupboard quietly, Harry crept toward the kitchen. Aunt Petunia was watching one of her favorite soap operas, and Dudley was busy hammering away at his new gaming console in the living room. That meant he had a window.

Moving stealthily, he opened the fridge and snagged a slice of leftover toast.

[Skill Increased: Stealth Lv. 2]

You move with greater silence and awareness.

+3% chance of avoiding detection.

Harry froze mid-bite, eyes wide. "No way," he whispered. "This… this is amazing!"

So, just sneaking around the house could improve his skills? He could work with that. Maybe with enough practice, he could even sneak out of the house entirely without the Dursleys noticing.

The Park Experiment

Later that afternoon, Harry found himself back in the park, staring at an empty swing set. He had a burning question: how far could this system go? Could he gain more skills by doing other random things?

He cracked his knuckles. "Let's see if this works," he said, crouching into a running stance. He sprinted toward the farthest bench, pushing himself faster than he'd ever run before.

[Skill Created: Sprint Lv. 1]

Your ability to run at high speed has increased.

+2% movement speed.

Panting, Harry grinned. "Okay, this is definitely a game," he said, feeling his legs buzz with newfound energy.

Determined to test it further, he tried jumping over obstacles, dodging imaginary attackers, and practicing rolls in the grass. His efforts were rewarded.

[Skill Created: Acrobatics Lv. 1]

Your flexibility and coordination have improved.

+3% chance to avoid fall damage.

[Skill Created: Observation Lv. 1]

You can better notice details around you.

Increased perception of hidden elements.

Sweaty but exhilarated, Harry collapsed onto the grass. "I wonder if Hermione would freak out if she saw this," he mused. A small frown crossed his face. He didn't have any friends here—certainly no one to talk to about something this bizarre.

Ding!

A new notification appeared.

[Quest Alert!]

Social Butterfly (Optional)

Make a friend before Hogwarts.

• Find someone to talk to (0/1)

• Avoid suspicion (0/1)

Reward: +5 EXP, +1 CHA, ???

"Make a friend?" Harry sighed. That sounded a lot harder than dodging Dudley's fists.

Unexpected Encounter

As he trudged back home, still thinking about his new skills, Harry noticed someone sitting alone on a bench. A thin boy with messy brown hair and large glasses hunched over a book, muttering to himself.

Harry squinted. "Piers?" he muttered in disbelief. Dudley's crony was reading? That was new.

Curiosity piqued, he approached cautiously. "Didn't think I'd ever see you outside without Dudley," he said, sitting down beside him.

Piers nearly jumped out of his skin but recovered quickly, scowling. "Sod off, Potter."

Harry smirked. "What, no Dudley today? Or is he too busy stuffing his face?"

Piers hesitated, eyeing Harry warily. "He's grounded. Too many detentions at school," he muttered.

Harry raised an eyebrow. "And you're… reading?"

Piers huffed. "It's for school, alright? Mum's making me." He glanced at Harry. "What do you want?"

A quest alert popped up in Harry's vision.

[Quest Progress: Social Butterfly]

Objective Updated: Engage in conversation with Piers.

Harry considered his options. Making a friend of one of Dudley's gang sounded like a bad idea. But if he could keep Piers from bothering him later… maybe it was worth it.

He shrugged. "Just wondering why someone like you is reading a book instead of chasing me around."

Piers hesitated, before smirking. "Maybe I got tired of listening to Dudley's whining all the time. Don't you?"

Harry blinked. That… was actually relatable.

"Yeah, I get that," Harry admitted. "He's a walking disaster."

To his surprise, Piers chuckled. "True that."

[Quest Completed: Social Butterfly]

Reward: +5 EXP, +1 CHA (Charisma Unlocked)

Harry suppressed a grin as another notification popped up.

[Skill Created: Charisma Lv. 1]

Your ability to influence people has improved.

+2% chance of positive reactions.

Maybe this game wasn't so bad after all.

Preparing for Hogwarts

As Harry finally made it back to Privet Drive, dodging Petunia's glares and skirting Dudley's demands for the remote, he opened his Quests screen and scrolled down.

[Main Quest: The Hogwarts Letter]

• Wait for the arrival of the letter (0/1)

• Survive Dursley interference (0/1)

• Gather supplies sneakily (0/1)

Reward: Entry to Hogwarts, 50 EXP, Wand Selection Quest

"Looks like I'll have to keep leveling up until then," Harry muttered to himself.

And with that, he mentally prepared himself for whatever the Game—and Hogwarts—had in store for him.
