Harem: Shooting Anime In Another World

Chapter 3: Chapter 3 The Exciting Decision to Film KonoSuba

Chapter 3

So, Durin had made the big decision to dive into the world of anime filmmaking, and he was so caught up in it that he barely remembered to eat or sleep! He was busy jotting down everything he could remember from his favorite shows. Out of all the amazing anime from his previous world, two really stood out to him.

The first was the iconic "Fullmetal Alchemist," and the second was the hilarious "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World."

Durin felt that "Fullmetal Alchemist" was a true masterpiece, holding a special place in the hearts of anime fans everywhere. The epic and emotional moments in the show seemed like a perfect fit for this new world he found himself in, and he was eager to bring it to life. After all, it was "Fullmetal Alchemist" that had sparked his love for anime in the first place!

But here's the catch: Durin wasn't quite sure how to create mechanical arms or depict alchemy just yet. Plus, the steampunk visuals posed a lot of technical challenges, and he realized he wasn't ready to tackle such a big project just yet.

On the flip side, "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World" was a lot more down-to-earth. It didn't have any grand scenes, and the story revolved around a cozy little town. Durin had some fun ideas for the characters, so he decided that "KonoSuba" would be the first anime he'd adapt.

"Live-action adaptation? Project proposal? Sir Edward, what are those?! You don't need to stress so much about the debts!" Windy exclaimed, looking puzzled.

"Let's put that aside for now," Durin replied with a smile. He set aside the "Fullmetal Alchemist" notes and opened up the not-so-thick script for "KonoSuba." "First, take a look at this and let me know what you think."

"This? This thing called 'KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World'?" Windy asked, a bit confused but eager to follow her master's lead. As she flipped through the script, she realized that while the title sounded a bit chaotic, this anime was actually super popular back in Durin's world. It was loved not just for its quirky story but also for its wonderfully unique characters.

The story follows Sato Kazuma, a gaming-obsessed shut-in who unexpectedly dies and, with the help of a goddess, gets to bring her along into a fantasy world for some wild adventures. The main characters include:

- Sato Kazuma, the not-so-heroic adventurer who can be surprisingly strong but is mostly a bit of a coward;

- Aqua, the water goddess who seems fancy but is actually quite arrogant and a bit of a troublemaker;

- Megumin, a girl from the Crimson Demon tribe who's a magic whiz but only focuses on explosion magic;

- Darkness, the daughter of a lord who's a tough, masochistic knight.

This quirky little group goes on a series of hilarious and heartwarming adventures, and that's the essence of "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!"

"What a strange mix of characters…" Windy remarked, clearly intrigued. Durin just smiled and encouraged her to keep reading.

Then, out of nowhere, Windy burst into laughter! "Puhahaha!!!" Even the usually serious Windy couldn't help but crack up at the absurd antics of the characters, and this was before any edits had been made to the script.

Seeing Windy trying to keep her composure while giggling made Durin feel a wave of relief. He loved this anime, but he was worried that the humor might not translate well in this new world due to cultural differences.

But watching Windy laugh so freely at the unedited script gave him hope and strengthened his resolve to bring "KonoSuba" to life.

"This story is so strange, but it's really fun! Lord Edward, you might just have a knack for writing! Are you thinking of becoming a novelist to help with the family debts? I bet this would be a hit as a book!" Windy said, wiping away tears of laughter.

Durin chuckled and shook his head. "I'm not really cut out to be a novelist, but I'm determined to find a way to share this story and help the Edward family!"

"Share it? But you don't mean writing a novel, right?" Windy asked, looking puzzled. She couldn't quite grasp what other ways there were to tell a story.

Not wanting to get into too much detail just yet, Durin simply smiled and said, "For now, Windy, let's focus on drafting a letter."

"A letter? To whom?" she asked, curious.

"To the Mage's Tower."

"What?!"

Windy's eyes widened in surprise at the mention of the Mage's Tower, looking a bit lost. But after Durin encouraged her, she hurried off to fetch the materials for the letter.

Once she was gone, Durin took a moment to gather his thoughts and picked up his pen, starting to write.

Dear Miss Hilinda Helena,

It's been a while! How have you been? I heard you've made some exciting breakthroughs in your fire magic research—way to go! You must be getting close to graduation, and I have to say, I'm a bit envious.

But tell me, have you managed to finish your elemental magic credits? Have you paid off those hefty debts from all those magic energy crystals? And are you still stuck in the little black room for casting Fireball, Fireball, and Explosive Fireball in class?

Haha, I still remember our wild days skipping class together, and I genuinely wish you all the happiness in the world.

Do you recall that time we swore at the barbecue place near the Mage's Tower to shake things up in the magic world? We wanted to let the brilliance of flames and alchemy shine through! I still get fired up just thinking about it.

By the way, I'm still waiting for you to pay me back for that barbecue, which is a bit of a bummer.

But I know someone who can only cast Fireball, Fireball, and Explosive Fireball might not have the best job prospects, so I'm not looking to take legal action. Instead, I have a great opportunity for you!

Come visit the Edward family castle in the Southern region during the Mage's Tower's long holiday. There's a project full of potential waiting for you, with a starting salary of five gold coins a month, plus all the benefits you could want. And if you do well, there's room for a raise! I really hope you can make it.

May the magic shine bright in your life!

Your old classmate who got kicked out of the Mage's Tower, Baron Durin Edward.
