Chapter 447: Chapter 369: Driven Away!
Chapter 369: Driven Away!
The arrival of so many Saints simultaneously naturally exuded an overwhelming presence that couldn't be concealed. Tongtian Jiaozhu immediately sensed something amiss and came out to investigate.
The scene before him was entirely unexpected. When had so many Saints united in solidarity again, just like the last time?
Seeing them, he was utterly enraged and spoke with fury:
"What are you all doing here?"
This scene stirred up familiar yet infuriating memories for him. During the Battle of the Gods, it was precisely the combined interference of these Saints that led to his crushing defeat. From that point on, he had never regained his former strength.
And now, here they were again, gathered just as they had been during the Battle of the Gods.
This infuriated Tongtian Jiaozhu, who had been elated over obtaining a treasured artifact. He was outraged to realize these Saints were targeting him again.
Laozi was the first to speak.
"The Chaos Primal Bead is an extraordinarily rare treasure. Even we Saints have never seen it before. We simply wish to seize this opportunity to witness it firsthand. You just acquired it, didn't you? Why not let us examine it together and learn from one another?"
Hearing this, Tongtian Jiaozhu's eyes burned with rage.
To make matters worse, the Buddha Jieyin added,
"The Chaos Primal Bead is not easily comprehended. If we join forces to study it, we might unlock its mysteries much faster than you could alone."
On the surface, their words seemed reasonable, but Tongtian Jiaozhu was no fool. He knew exactly what their true intentions were. They were coveting the Chaos Primal Bead and plotting ways to obtain it.
Saints were known for doing whatever it took to further their own interests, including deceit and trickery. Obtaining the Chaos Primal Bead would be worth any price to them.
Knowing this, Tongtian Jiaozhu stood firm and refused to budge. He retorted forcefully:
"I advise you all to abandon your thoughts of this. There's no way I'll let you see the Chaos Primal Bead!"
The Saints had anticipated his reaction. If the treasure were in their hands, they would undoubtedly act the same—or perhaps even more aggressively—than Tongtian Jiaozhu.
Laozi, prepared for this, offered a suggestion.
"Everything can be negotiated. I recently refined a batch of elixirs that even Saints find beneficial. Why don't I give you a few in exchange for an opportunity to see the treasure?"
These elixirs were indeed rare, but compared to the Chaos Primal Bead, they were insignificant. Using them as leverage was far from sufficient.
Laozi wasn't stingy; he simply knew that as a Saint, Tongtian Jiaozhu had little use for ordinary items. Few things in the vast wilderness could truly tempt him.
Tongtian Jiaozhu dismissed the offer outright, sneering,
"Those things are useless to me. I'm not interested. You'd better keep them for yourself!"
Unable to hold back, Nüwa interjected.
"We merely wish to have a look and mean no harm. I hope you can accommodate us."
Tongtian Jiaozhu showed her no courtesy and snapped:
"Why should I accommodate you? What does this have to do with me? The Chaos Primal Bead belongs to me. If I'm unwilling, there's no possibility of you seeing it!"
Nüwa was left speechless by his sharp retort and chose to remain silent.
These Saints all had a history of unscrupulous behavior. If the Chaos Primal Bead were truly placed before them, there was nothing they wouldn't do to seize it. After all, achieving enlightenment and advancing as a Saint were paramount to them.
Meanwhile, the spectacle outside was beyond what anyone watching the live broadcast could have imagined. No one expected these revered Saints to be arguing so pettily.
Zhunti spoke earnestly,
"We traveled from our respective domains to see this treasure. We truly have no ill intentions."
"You don't even believe your own words. The Chaos Primal Bead is mine to study alone. Stop entertaining thoughts of it!"
Tongtian Jiaozhu maintained his stance from start to finish, not yielding an inch.
When he saw that the Saints showed no intention of leaving, he declared threateningly,
"My Sword of Immortality has just been reforged, and I haven't tested its power yet. If you wish to experience it, feel free to stay!"
This warning snapped the other Saints out of their arrogance. They realized they couldn't continue provoking Tongtian Jiaozhu.
Tongtian Jiaozhu was not one to make empty threats. If they refused to leave, he would undoubtedly take action. A battle between Saints would reverberate across the entire wilderness, spreading the news far and wide. Left with no choice, they had to back down.
Laozi conceded,
"Since you're unwilling, we'll let it go. However, if you encounter difficulties in comprehending it, feel free to seek me out. I'll do my best to assist you."
With that, Laozi departed. Seeing this, the other Saints were uncertain whether to stay or leave.
They hadn't even glimpsed the Chaos Primal Bead. Leaving now felt like a tremendous loss.
But Tongtian Jiaozhu had already drawn the Sword of Immortality, making his intentions unmistakable. Realizing they couldn't underestimate him, the Saints ultimately chose to retreat.
Tongtian Jiaozhu watched them leave, finally relaxing. The earlier confrontation had nearly escalated into a full-blown battle. Though he didn't want to fight, he wouldn't have hesitated to defend himself.
Satisfied, he returned to his cave, where he set up the Sword of Immortality Formation. Knowing the Saints still harbored thoughts of his treasure, the formation would greatly enhance the cave's security, allowing him peace of mind.
Unbeknownst to most of the wilderness, an intense and dangerous confrontation had just taken place. Had the Saints been more aggressive, a battle among them would have been inevitable.
Fortunately, the Saints realized the Chaos Primal Bead belonged to Tongtian Jiaozhu and had no connection to them. Unless they cooperated to study it together, they could only give up.
Laozi, in particular, refrained from conflict, knowing the next reward was his. He didn't want to jeopardize his opportunity for a reward by engaging in battle.
Meanwhile, the rest of the world, oblivious to the recent events, continued eagerly awaiting the announcement of the eighth reward.
