Chapter 10: The End of the Bloodbath
San Woo's grip on Jin Seok loosened as he let out a quiet exhale. Slowly, he released the boy, allowing him to sit up. Jin Seok shoved San Woo's arm away, glaring at him with a mixture of frustration and suspicion.
"What the hell was that for?" Jin Seok spat, rubbing his wrist where San Woo's grip had been firm.
Min Joon crouched nearby, his face a blend of confusion and worry. "What's going on? Why did you pin him like that?"
San Woo ignored the question, his gaze fixed on Jin Seok as if he were a puzzle he couldn't quite solve. He sat back on his heels, his hand resting thoughtfully on his chin. "There's something about you," he muttered, more to himself than anyone else. "That energy… It's not normal. It's Demonic IQ."
"Demonic IQ?" Jin Seok echoed, his voice sharp. "What does that even mean, was Demonic IQ is the reason for my strength?"
Min Joon shifted closer, his expression growing more serious.
San Woo nodded slowly, still lost in thought. "If Jin Seok really can drain Demonic IQ like you said, it explains why those men fell after touching him."
Jin Seok stood abruptly, brushing off his clothes. "I dont know how ı got this power but ıf ı can help So Hyeon and the other guy ı will try to help with it."
San Woo finally looked up at him, his eyes sharp. "You don't have to know how. You just need to trust me and follow the plan it might be risky but it will be worth it."
Jin Seok crossed his arms, his annoyance evident. "What plan? You haven't even said anything yet."
San Woo stood as well, brushing dust off his cloak. "The plan where you're our secret weapon. If you can touch that lunatic, you might be able to weaken him enough for the others to finish the fight. My body is nowhere strong enought to go against that monster but I can,no I will create a opening."
Min Joon frowned, skepticism creeping into his voice. "And what if we can't get close? That guy's got that scythe and probably more tricks up his sleeve."
San Woo's lips curved into a faint smirk. "Then ı dont know. A well-placed distraction, some calculated risks and you can do the rest."
Jin Seok looked between them, his jaw tight. "And what happens if I fail? If this 'plan' of yours doesn't work?"
San Woo met his gaze, his tone unyielding. "Then we adapt. But right now, you're our best shot at turning this fight around. So you can either help, or you can stay here and let the others fight your battles for you."
The words struck a nerve, and Jin Seok's fists clenched. Min Joon placed a hand on his shoulder, his expression softer. "We've made it this far by sticking together. We'll figure this out, just like we always do."
Jin Seok let out a long breath, some of the tension leaving his body. "Fine. But if this goes south, don't expect me to play hero again."
San Woo's smirk returned, this time with a glimmer of approval. "Good. Let's move before it's too late."
The Battle's End
The battlefield was chaos. Lee Kang's sword clashed against the lunatic's scythes in a violent symphony of sparks and steel, his every movement precise but strained. Each strike he parried seemed to grow heavier, the lunatic's attacks fueled by unrelenting ferocity.
Lee Kang gritted his teeth, his muscles screaming under the weight of each blow. The lunatic's scythes carved through the air, a blur of death that forced him to remain on the defensive. He ducked, narrowly avoiding a swipe aimed for his throat, then twisted his blade to block a follow-up strike that would have severed his leg.
Nearby, So Hyeon crouched low, scanning the battle with sharp, determined eyes. She tracked the lunatic's erratic movements, watching his scythes whirl in deadly arcs that prevented Lee Kang from counterattacking. Her hand clenched tightly around her knife as she searched for a single, fleeting opening.
Her attention shifted when a shadow moved in the periphery of her vision. It was San Woo, the assassin under Leader Yang's command. He was impossibly quiet, his figure blending into the chaos.he must appeared on her eyes for a reason. Their eyes met for a brief moment, and San Woo's hands moved in a series of quick signals.
Give us five seconds. Create an opening.
So Hyeon nodded, swallowing hard. Her heart pounded in her chest, each beat a reminder of what was at stake. Five seconds. That was all they needed. But it would take everything she had.
Gritting her teeth, she shot forward, her sudden movement breaking Lee Kang's focus.
"So Hyeon! What are you doing? Take cover!" Lee Kang shouted, panic lacing his voice as he parried another strike. His tone was raw, desperate—he couldn't lose another ally, not here.
Ignoring him, So Hyeon sprinted toward the lunatic. The bloodied man turned to face her, his cracked lips curling into a cruel grin.
"Did you think you could create an opening by sacrificing yourself?" he sneered, his voice dripping with malice. His bloodshot eyes gleamed with an unsettling hunger.
So Hyeon didn't answer. Her foot caught the hilt of her discarded sword, and with a sharp kick, she sent it flying toward the lunatic's face.
The lunatic's grin faltered as he jerked his head to the side, narrowly avoiding the blade. His reaction created the opening So Hyeon needed. She lunged, knife in hand, aiming straight for his chest.
But the lunatic's smirk returned, cruel and mocking. His body twisted unnaturally, his joints bending in impossible angles. A powerful kick slammed into her torso, the impact sending her hurtling backward.
Pain exploded through her ribs, and she coughed blood mid-air. Her body felt weightless, suspended in the moment. Despite the pain, she forced herself to focus. Her vision sharpened, the world around her fading into translucent streams of energy.
The lunatic's figure burned with Demonic IQ, a dark, pulsating aura but he was not the only one that Demonic IQ enveloped him. There was a another one with Demonic IQ was that person the reason to create a opening. Her eyes widened as realization struck. San Woo's signal wasn't for her. It was for the black-haired boy now sprinting toward the lunatic with unwavering determination.
Summoning the last of her strength, So Hyeon hurled her knives mid-air. The blades spun in tight arcs, their trajectory perfect. They struck the chains of the lunatic's scythes, pinning the weapons to the ground and breaking his flow.
Caught off guard, the lunatic stumbled, his attention snapping to So Hyeon.
Then, he noticed Jin Seok closing the distance, his eyes cold and unreadable.
"You think you are something after having that curse Huh?" the lunatic growled, releasing his scythes. Demonic IQ crackled around his hands, forming dark, lethal claws. He surged forward to strike Jin Seok down.
A blur of motion interrupted his attack. San Woo emerged from the shadows, his blade slicing cleanly through the lunatic's arm.
"You're dead," San Woo said under his black mask, his voice filled with joy and a mocking amusement, as though the lunatic was nothing more than a small roach.
The lunatic howled in fear, swinging his remaining arm in a desperate counterattack. The blow struck San Woo, sending him crashing into a wall with a sickening thud.
But it was too late. Jin Seok had closed the gap. His hand pressed firmly against the lunatic's chest, unleashing a surge of power.
"AAAAHHHHH! YOU FUCKEEERRR" the lunatic screamed, his Demonic IQ collapsing under the force. His body trembled violently as his energy drained away.
In that moment, Lee Kang appeared behind him, both his eyes and sword gleaming with deadly intent. With a powerful swing, he severed the lunatic into countless pieces, ending the battle.
The battlefield grew silent, the air heavy with the aftermath. So Hyeon's body began its descent, plummeting toward the blood-soaked ground.
Before she could hit the ground, Min Joon who was hiding behind a house dove beneath her, catching her just in time. The impact made him wince, but he smiled through the pain.
"Next time, think before you move. Do you hear me?" he whispered, his voice trembling as he cradled her bruised frame. "You scared the hell out of me,dummy"
She managed a weak laugh before her vision blurred. "You're saying this?" she murmured, her consciousness slipping away.
Jin Seok stood motionless, his hand trembling from the power he had unleashed. His gaze lingered on the lunatic's remains, the battle replaying in his mind. Feeling lost on his newfound powers.
Lee Kang approached, his sword dripping with blood. His expression was grim as he surveyed the destruction—the bodies of villagers lying amidst the rubble.
He closed his eyes and lowered his head in solemn respect.
"To the brave souls of my brothers who fell here, your pain ends now. You fought with honor, and we will remember your sacrifice. And to those who died while suffering…" His voice echoed again.
"I hope you find peace. Every last one of you."
His words echoed through the battlefield, a promise carried by the wind. Then he looked at the Jin Seok with curious eyes just before collapsing on the to ground. The heavy battle had tired him to the last extend of his power.
