God Of Shadows

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Meeting Nova Prime

The representative brought me to a high end hotel and paid for room and board for a month as he was unsure how long it would take for the meet to be set up and complete.

Knowing I had obviously underestimated the need for any sort of advantage against the Kree and specifically Ronan and the Accusers. I filed this useful Information away for the meeting.

(Meeting room at Nova Corps HQ)

"Mr. Odinson I would like to be the first to say Welcome to Xandar! I have heard you were interested in selling some ships?" Nova Prime asked as she shook my hand.

"Please, call me Erebos. If I am being honest, I had expected a more militant response." I replied.

"I will admit, we had our reservations as we had seen two warships from our current enemies being dragged behind an Asgardian ship, but far be it for us to suspect a warrior of Asgard of treachery." Nova Prime replied perfectly blending praise with suspicion.

I nodded and then looked at Nova Prime.

"I know that the ship's I have brought are not in perfect condition, but I fixed them as best I could and if nothing else they would be useful for strategic purposes." I explained alluding to using the ships to find out weaknesses of the Kree ships.

"You are correct. I believe you want your payment in Standard Units yes?" Nova Prime asked.

"Yes of course, Odin knows Asgardian currency is worthless outside of the Nine Realms." I replied.

"Quite. Now, we would like to have a look at the warships to determine their intrinsic value and we can make determinations regarding the price." Nova Prime explained professionally.

"That's interesting. From what I gather, you seem to be in more need for an advantage in this war with the Kree than you seem to be letting on. At least, that's the undercurrent I got from the representative that had received me at my arrival." I explained with a mischievous glint in my eye.

Nova Prime frowned and glanced in the direction of the Corpsman that brought me to her as she knew he was the only one who had any interaction with me. She then amended her frown and smiled at me as she responded.

"I see you are well informed. It is true, this war has taken it's toll on us and we need any help we can get at the moment." She finished as she knew that they would now have to accommodate me a lot more than they would have.

"Very well, I believe we can discuss payment and all the logistics tomorrow, for now I will ensure that the ship's are safe and I can retire to my room that I was given." I explained.

Again Nova Prime frowned.

"If you don't mind my asking, how can you ensure the ships are safe?" Nova Prime asked.

I waved my hand as it glowed a mix of green and blue.

"Just like that." I said as if it explained everything.

Nova Prime was about to ask what I did when she received a message on the radio in her earpiece which I was able to hear with my enhanced senses.

"Ma'am, the Asgardian's ship as well as the warships seemed to be covered with a blue shield then they fully disappeared from view." A Nova Corpsman explained to her.

Nova Prime looked at me.

"Your doing?" She asked expectintly.

"Yes, of course." I replied with a nod.

"How exactly?" She asked.

"Magic." I simply replied.

Nova Prime frowned at my response, but seeing I had no plans to elaborate, left it at that and sent me on my way.

(Nova Prime alone with her Corpsman)

"What did you tell him?!?" She asked the Corpsman who escorted him.

"I didn't tell him anything!!!" He defended.

"Then how is it he came to know about our current situation and he seemed to imply he found out from a member of the Nova Corps. You are the only one he has interacted with since his arrival, who else could it have been?" She asked frustratingly.

"I have no idea Ma'am he must have..." the Corpsman paused as he seemed to have released something.

"What is it?" She asked curiously.

"I believe I know how he realized about our situation." He explained.

"And how is that?" She asked.

"When he had mentioned he had wanted to sell, my expression had changed slightly to one of happiness. It was only for a moment, but he must've seen it, he might've even been looking for a reaction." The Corpsman explained his thoughts as best as he could.

Nova Prime's eyes widened in realization.

"This Asgardian is more dangerous than I initially anticipated. Not only did he deliberately aim his words towards garnering a reaction from you, but he also implied that he had actually received factual Intel from you in our conversation regarding the price of the warships, when he only had a theory and used my reaction to his revelation as a confirmation." Nova Prime explained aloud in a mix of amazement and trepidation.

The other Corpsman seemed to start to reevaluate their thoughts on the level of importance to place on their new guest as a possible ally or the fear that the Asgardian might become an enemy.

"I must deliberate with our Research and Weapons division about an inspection tomorrow as well as our Financial division regarding where we can spare some units and what price we may have to negotiate." Nova Prime said as she dismissed the soldiers.

(Meanwhile at my hotel room)

'I wasn't even trying to trick them, it was all a bit of fun really, but if it turns out I can get something more out of our deal, why not?' I pondered.

They didn't know what I had done to the ships, but I had simply activated some of the enchantments I placed on my ship. The enchantment allows for a shield to placed around my ship and it's immediate vicinity. That vicinity being determined by the size of the ship itself. The shield will then activate an illusion spell to turn the ships invisible.

It was a paltry enchantment, but it works wonders for those unversed in Magical Knowledge.

'Alright, tomorrow will be the day I may be able to become a millionaire overnight. Maybe even a billionaire if I prey on their need for an advantage in the war'

All these thoughts and a discovery I had come to after my interactions with the Kree had proven two things to me. One, war is definitely profitable for me in many different ways, whether that's in acquiring shadows or Units. Two, time passes much faster on Asgard and possibly the Nine Realms than the rest of the Universe.

I made the second determination based upon the fact that the events of Captain Marvel are happening right now.

I know this, as I already know that by 2011, the year when Thor is banished to Earth, he was 1,493 years old, and I am 2 years older than him, so, by being only 110 now and it being 1995 on Earth right now as that is the time that Captain Marvel takes place, time passing quicker is the only explanation I can think of right now.

As for how time passes quicker, I am not sure. I believe it is either due to Odin and his Odinforce. Or, it is due to the realm itself. All this is for the most part, a theory, until I can arrive on Earth and verify the timeline.
