Ghoul: Starting with Sharingan

Chapter 129: Breaking Ties

Hearing those words, Yomo froze for a moment before finally reacting.

The other party had already recognized him?!

Yomo's expression turned to one of utter shock.

He could hardly believe it, but since the man had spoken those words, no matter how much he wanted to deny it, he had no choice but to accept reality.

Terrifying...

Yomo couldn't help but feel that this young man in black was overwhelmingly dangerous.

Not only was his strength far superior, but he had also seen right through him.

"...Alright..."

Yomo didn't know what else to say, so he just responded absentmindedly.

For this man to say something like that — and to have become the son-in-law of Yoshimura — it was clear that he truly wasn't an enemy.

Otherwise, Yomo would have died back then and never had the chance to join Anteiku.

The others more or less knew about the past conflict between Yomo and Byakuya. They didn't know the exact details, but as long as Byakuya wasn't their enemy, that was all that mattered.

....

"Alright then, I guess it's time for Eto and I to head back. Mayu, take some time to get familiar with Grandpa, okay?"

Byakuya spoke to Mayu in a gentle yet firm tone.

"Okay~"

Mayu nodded obediently, showing no signs of reluctance.

After all, they had already talked about this before coming here.

"Huh? Mayu's going to stay with us? That's great! Now Touka and Ayato will have another friend to play with" said Hikari.

"Don't worry, I'll look after you. If anyone dares to bully you, just let me know" Irimi said with a warm smile.

...

After just a short while with everyone, Kurumi already felt at home in Anteiku.

At first, she had been a little shy.

But now, with her "Grandpa" here and everyone being so kind and welcoming, she wasn't scared at all anymore.

"Well then, I'll leave her in your care" Byakuya said before heading out with Eto.

...

Not long after leaving Anteiku, Eto turned to Byakuya and asked, "So, what exactly did you and my father talk about? You two were at it for quite a while."

"I told him who I really am, that I plan to overthrow the Washuu Clan, and also about Mayu. That's pretty much it."

Byakuya kept his explanation brief.

"You trust him that much? To be honest, I can't even fully trust my own father" Eto said, slightly surprised.

For some reason, it felt like Byakuya understood her father better than she did.

"Yeah" Byakuya nodded.

Truthfully, whether he trusted Yoshimura or not didn't really matter anymore—because he was about to completely break ties with the Washuu Clan.

That being said, he did genuinely trust Yoshimura.

If it weren't for his lack of strength, there was no one — aside from Eto — who hated the Washuu more than Yoshimura.

At the very least, when it came to fighting against the Washuu, Yoshimura was someone he could absolutely rely on.

"...Alright then" Eto said nonchalantly. "But honestly, I might've been too impulsive this time. What happened today might put Anteiku in danger... and it could expose your identity as well."

Now that she had calmed down, she realized her actions today had been reckless.

If the V Organization started investigating her connections with Byakuya and Yoshimura, it would be a serious problem.

"It's fine. They won't get the chance."

Byakuya's tone was calm and confident.

"You don't have to comfort me, you know" Eto said, half-skeptical.

Clearly, she had no idea what Byakuya was planning next.

"I'm not just saying that. I mean it."

Byakuya's voice was steady.

"...Alright, then."

Eto figured he must have some kind of plan. After all, Byakuya always had a trick up his sleeve—nothing would surprise her anymore.

...

Every couple of days, Byakuya would visit Sunlit Garden, taking Furuta and Rize out to explore the city.

But today was different...

"Furuta, have you figured out your plan yet?"

Byakuya asked directly.

Furuta's expression darkened. "I'm sorry... I still haven't thought of a way..."

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't come up with a way to ensure Byakuya wouldn't be put in danger while he and Rize successfully escaped.

It had been weighing on his mind for days.

"It's fine. We'll just do it now."

Byakuya said decisively.

"...Do what now?"

Furuta looked at him in confusion.

"Just follow me."

Without another word, Byakuya led Furuta and Rize out of Sunlit Garden, even leaving the 1st Ward entirely.

"...Wait, this isn't the 1st Ward anymore, right? What are you—?"

Furuta was starting to realize something was off.

"It's obvious what he's planning to do" Rize said, her expression unreadable.

"But if we do this, he will be in danger!"

Furuta's face filled with worry.

"You don't have to worry about me. Just run as far as you can. Don't stop until you absolutely can't go any further. Head to the 6th Ward if possible."

Byakuya whispered to them.

Then, he shoved them forward while stopping in his tracks.

Because from the moment they had left the 1st Ward, members of the Washuu Clan had been following them.

Members of V—the secret enforcers of the Washuu.

As soon as he led Furuta and Rize out of the Washuu's domain, their pursuers multiplied.

He had to hold them off here.

Only then could Furuta and Rize truly escape the Washuu's grasp.

"Big brother Byakuya!"

Furuta hesitated, but Rize grabbed his arm.

"Are you planning to waste Byakuya's efforts?" she said sharply. "And what exactly do you think you can do? You're too weak. Staying here would only get in the way."

Furuta clenched his fists, struggling internally.

But Rize was right.

For now, all he could do was listen to Byakuya.

So he and Rize ran as fast as they could, dashing into a maze of alleyways where they would be harder to follow.

Their past training came in handy.

In the blink of an eye, they were gone.
