Genshin Impact: Transmigrated as Furina's Second Personality

Chapter 47: Obstruction

"You bear a Delusion. If I'm not mistaken, you're not from the Akademiya but one of the Fatui Harbingers, correct?"

Aishi's sharp gaze locked onto the woman before her, her expression darkening.

Since becoming one of Lady Furina's chosen followers, Aishi had learned much that she had never known before.

She understood clearly that the Fatui were enemies of Lady Furina and Fontaine.

The situation in Sumeru was already precarious. The tensions between the desert and rainforest were like a powder keg waiting for a spark.

Both Fontaine and the Akademiya had been carefully maintaining a balance, soothing the desert people on one side and the rainforest inhabitants on the other, to keep that spark from igniting.

For the Fatui Harbinger to appear now, disguised in Akademiya attire and committing murder in Aaru Village, the desert's largest settlement—her purpose was all too clear.

Before becoming one of Furina's Oceanids, Aishi and her companions had been briefed with intelligence directly from Furina. The dossiers on the Fatui Harbingers had been particularly detailed.

Though the woman before her wore an Akademiya uniform, her other characteristics were unmistakable:

A tall woman with golden hair, purple-gray eyes, and mastery of Cryo using a Delusion.

This combination of features left no doubt in Aishi's mind about her identity—the Harbinger known as La Signora.

Aishi had guessed correctly. The woman standing before her was indeed the Fatui Harbinger La Signora.

Signora had been assigned to Sumeru with two primary objectives:

 1. To command the Fatui forces gathering near Fontaine's borders, exerting military pressure.

 2. To seize the Gnosis belonging to Sumeru's Dendro Archon.

Sowing chaos in foreign nations and exploiting the unrest to steal divine power was the Fatui's modus operandi.

This time was no different.

Before leaving Snezhnaya, Signora had already been briefed on the escalating tensions between the desert and rainforest in Sumeru.

Her plan was to capitalize on this conflict, plunging Sumeru into disarray and using the chaos to steal the Dendro Archon's Gnosis.

However, upon her arrival, her spies embedded in the Akademiya revealed that the Akademiya was negotiating with Furina, using the desert as a bargaining chip.

At first, Signora dismissed this intelligence. She didn't believe the Hydro Archon would dare defy the Heavenly Principles by targeting the land of another nation.

Yet, curious, she decided to investigate under cover of night, donning an Akademiya uniform to infiltrate Aaru Village.

Her plan was simple: massacre the village under the guise of an Akademiya operative, framing the rainforest's leadership.

The resulting outrage would ignite the powder keg, sparking a civil war between the desert and the rainforest. In the ensuing chaos, she could seize the Dendro Archon's Gnosis.

What she hadn't expected, however, was an unforeseen development—Aishi.

Signora scrutinized Aishi, a flicker of surprise crossing her eyes.

"No Vision, yet you can wield Hydro. I suppose this makes you one of the Hydro Archon's chosen?"

She smirked. "So the reports were true. Who would have thought—Focalors is brazen enough to stretch her hands toward Sumeru's land."

"What was supposed to be a simple mission turns out to offer unexpected rewards. It seems I'm luckier than I thought."

Signora's casual words caused Aishi's frown to deepen.

In her brief statements, Aishi had detected critical information: the Fatui had uncovered Lady Furina's plan to annex the desert from Sumeru.

The plan crafted between Lady Furina and the Akademiya was known only to a select few.

For the Fatui to have this information, it meant one of two things:

• Either there was a traitor in Fontaine.

• Or, more likely, there was a mole in the Akademiya.

The latter was far more plausible. Compared to Fontaine, the Fatui's infiltration efforts in Sumeru were significantly easier.

Aishi fixed her icy gaze on Signora, fully aware of the gravity of the situation.

As the two squared off—

"Dong! Dong! Dong! Dong!"

The sound of an emergency alarm bell echoed throughout Aaru Village, signaling imminent danger.

The entire village was instantly roused.

The Oceanid Vigneire, awakened by the alarm and sensing Aishi's urgency, immediately connected with her telepathically.

"Aishi, what's happening?"

"It's the Fatui Harbinger La Signora, disguised as an Akademiya operative. She's here, killing villagers," Aishi tersely explained.

"You understand what this means given the current tensions."

"I'll hold her off. You and the others must evacuate the villagers immediately!"

Aishi's concise command left no room for argument.

The underground terrain of the desert was vast and complex, offering an ideal refuge. Recently, Aishi and the others had helped the villagers construct hidden tunnels beneath Aaru Village as a contingency plan.

Who would have thought they'd need them so soon?

"No! I won't allow it!"

Vigneire's voice bristled with urgency. "The Fatui Harbingers are monstrously powerful. Even if we fight together, our chances are slim—let alone you facing her alone!"

"If you stay to fight, it's suicide!"

Vigneire's protest was cut short by Aishi's resolute voice.

"Don't hesitate!"

Aishi's tone was firm and commanding.

Lady Furina had painstakingly planned this operation to annex the desert without bloodshed, securing the desert people's faith in the Hydro Archon.

The current residents of Aaru Village were mostly the elderly, women, and children—the loved ones of the desert's warriors.

If Signora were allowed to slaughter these innocents, the delicate balance between the desert and rainforest would collapse.

An all-out war would be unavoidable.

Some might wonder: Would the desert people really be fooled into thinking the Akademiya was responsible just because someone wore their uniform?

The truth was, it didn't matter.

The desert people had been barred from entering the rainforest and lacked the means to discern whether Signora truly represented the Akademiya.

Even if they discovered the truth later, their fury would already have taken root.

The desert was a tinderbox of anger and frustration. Many had long harbored hatred for the rainforest and were looking for a reason—any reason—to lash out.

If Signora carried out her massacre, the villagers' deaths would provide that reason.

At that point, whether Signora was truly an Akademiya operative or not would be irrelevant.

Once the powder keg exploded, the desert's rage would be unstoppable.

Civil war in Sumeru would tear apart everything Lady Furina had worked to achieve, and her carefully laid plans to bring the desert into Fontaine's fold would crumble.

Aishi was determined not to let that happen.

Vigneire proposed fighting La Signora alongside Aishi.

But Aishi refused.

After all, no one could guarantee that La Signora was acting alone, nor could they rule out the possibility that more Fatui forces were hidden nearby.

Aaru Village was home to a significant number of the elderly, women, and children. With so many noncombatants, protecting them would become exponentially harder. Even with someone as capable as Candace present, the chaotic situation could spiral beyond control.

The current tensions were simply too volatile.

There is a vast difference between hearing about death and witnessing it firsthand—between learning of distant casualties as mere numbers and watching helplessly as the blade approaches one's throat.

The terror of witnessing violence firsthand grows exponentially, especially when it involves the defenseless.

Should such fear spread now, under these precarious conditions, a civil war within Sumeru would become inevitable.

And with it, Lady Furina's carefully crafted plans would be reduced to ashes.

As a chosen follower of a god, one's priorities must align with the god's interests above all else.

Now was not the time to indulge personal attachments.

As the two strongest among Felina's Oceanid retinue, one of them needed to guide the villagers to safety while the other stayed behind to hold off La Signora and keep the slaughter away from the populace.

In the sandy plains, Aishi's unwavering gaze locked onto La Signora.

Both women understood each other's objectives perfectly—there was no need for words.

The Fatui Harbinger's power was overwhelming. No one in Aaru Village could stand against her, not even in a coordinated effort.

At this point, only the intervention of a god could prevent the situation from spiraling into disaster.

Through the unique connection between a follower and their Archon, Aishi had already transmitted the situation to Lady Furina.

Whether delaying La Signora or leading the villagers to safety, Aishi's sole goal was to buy enough time for Furina to arrive.

Without hesitation, Aishi launched her attack!

With Hydro energy swirling around her, Aishi swept her hand, summoning two blades of water.

Each blade shimmered with surging energy, their crescent shapes gleaming with a blue hue that seemed sharp enough to cleave through stone.

With a swift gesture, the water blades slashed toward La Signora's face in a deadly arc!

But the Harbinger remained unimpressed.

"So, this is the power of a Hydro Archon's chosen?"

La Signora chuckled. "Such feeble strength can hardly stand in my way."

With that, Cryo energy coalesced around her hands, forming two egg-sized orbs of ice.

With a flick of her wrist, the ice projectiles shot forward, colliding with the water blades mid-flight.

Cryo held a natural advantage over Hydro, and the freezing chill of the projectiles instantly crystallized the water blades. A moment later, the frozen blades shattered into icy shards.

Meanwhile, back in Fontaine, deep in the night…

Both Felina and Furina were already asleep.

But abruptly, Felina was jolted awake.

—[A Fatui Harbinger disguised as an Akademiya operative has appeared in Aaru Village, intending to massacre the villagers. Come quickly!]

The urgency of Aishi's message reverberated in Felina's mind.

Given Aishi's profound respect for Furina, the absence of honorifics or formalities in the message made the severity of the situation clear.

Felina immediately rose, her power surging around her as she leapt from her bed. Shattering the window, she burst out of Palais Mermonia and shot toward the desert as a streak of light, pushing her speed to its absolute limit.

Back in Aaru Village, as the alarm bells tolled, Vigneire and Candace had successfully organized the villagers into long lines, leading them in an orderly evacuation.

Meanwhile, Aishi's battle with La Signora had raged for twelve grueling minutes.

By now, Aishi's body bore clear signs of frostbite.

Having only been a Oceanid for two months, Aishi's strength and combat experience paled in comparison to that of a seasoned Fatui Harbinger. To make matters worse, Cryo inherently countered Hydro.

Throughout the battle, Aishi had failed to land even a single blow on La Signora. On the contrary, she had sustained numerous injuries from the relentless assault of ice spikes and freezing blasts.

Still, Aishi had accomplished her primary goal—delaying La Signora and buying precious time for the villagers and Furina.

"Pitiful insect," La Signora sneered, her disdain evident.

"Struggling so desperately, clinging to the futile hope of delaying me. But how much longer can you endure?"

Her icy tone dripped with contempt as she gazed upon Aishi.

To her, Aishi's strength was insignificant—pathetically weak, even.

And yet, despite her weakness, Aishi displayed a tenacity that bordered on fanatical. Each time she was struck down, she rose again to continue the fight.

For a Harbinger of the Fatui to be stalled for twelve minutes by such a feeble opponent—it was nothing short of humiliating.

"Hmph! You're just a Harbinger," Aishi shot back, her tone defiant.

"I can hold you off for much longer than this!"

To Aishi, bringing disgrace upon herself would mean bringing disgrace upon her Archon.

Thus, she refused to back down in the face of La Signora's mockery, countering with a taunt of her own.

La Signora's irritation flared. "Sharp-tongued wretch. Let's see how much longer you can hold out!"

With an icy fury, La Signora intensified her assault.

Spikes of ice materialized in the air, radiating a menacing chill as they shot toward Aishi in rapid succession.

Darting nimbly from side to side, Aishi managed to dodge the barrage.

But before she could regain her footing, a spinning wheel of ice, bristling with razor-sharp spikes, hurtled toward her with deadly speed.

The wheel, a veritable grinder of destruction, threatened to pulverize her.

Eyes wide, Aishi thrust her hands forward, summoning a powerful jet of water to clash against the icy wheel.

The torrent of water managed to halt the wheel's advance, but then something unexpected happened.

The wheel shuddered, then abruptly exploded into a storm of icy shards and freezing winds.

Caught in the icy tempest, Aishi emerged moments later, her body marred by frostbitten patches resembling jagged birthmarks—a clear sign of severe injury.

"Aah…"

Aishi's vision blurred, her consciousness wavering.

In an instant, her humanoid form dissolved, reverting back to that of a Oceanid.

As Aishi struggled, memories of Lady Furina's earlier warnings surfaced in her mind.

"You are, strictly speaking, beings who have already died—mere consciousness adrift within water."

"I have encased your souls in pure water, constructing bodies for you. These forms allow you to wield Hydro power and absorb water to grow stronger."

"But remember this: the bodies I've given you are vessels, fragile containers for your souls."

"Every battle drains the power of pure water. The more you deplete it, the smaller and weaker your bodies will become."

"When that power is fully consumed, your bodies will disintegrate. And without a vessel, your souls will vanish as well."

"To put it plainly—if you die as Oceanid, there will be no coming back."
