Chapter 3: Chapter 3
"Wahhh, help me!"
Famas heard the screams behind him. Clearly, some of his Slime brothers had been caught in Diluc's fiery phoenix.
After escaping the city gates, Famas couldn't help but glance back. What greeted him was the sight of the flaming phoenix and the red-haired Diluc himself. When their eyes met—Diluc's crimson gaze locking onto Famas's—Famas felt a chill run through his squishy body.
"Wahhh, his stare is so intense!"
Famas increased his bouncing speed, realizing that Diluc was chasing him, following the phoenix as it soared toward him.
"Hmph, so there's still one left?"
Diluc's cold voice echoed behind him.
Feeling the heat of the flames closing in, Famas felt as though needles were pricking his back. Finally, he reached the edge of Cider Lake near the side gate.
"This... this is water. I can't go in there."
Famas turned around. Diluc's phoenix was almost upon him.
"Time to gamble."
Gritting his metaphorical teeth, Famas saw Diluc approaching rapidly. He compressed his soft Slime body as much as he could and then leaped with all his might, landing right on top of the phoenix's head.
"Immune, immune, immune..."
Diluc, who had just caught up, stared in shock as the Pyro Slime rode the phoenix across Cider Lake, muttering something under its breath.
"Have Slimes gotten smarter lately? Did it just use elemental reactions to escape?"
Diluc stood by the lake, watching Famas get carried farther and farther away by the phoenix. After a moment of self-doubt, he shook his head.
"Probably just a coincidence."
Hertha, the logistics officer of the Knights of Favonius, arrived shortly after, panting heavily. After catching her breath, she thanked Diluc. "Thank you for your help, Master Diluc."
"As Knights of Favonius, you can't even handle a few Slimes?"
Diluc snorted, sheathing his claymore with a flourish before heading toward the Angel's Share tavern.

Meanwhile...
"Ah, that was way too close."
Deep in the Whispering Woods, Famas casually spat a fireball at a pigeon, then swallowed the fowl meat that dropped.
He had just ridden Diluc's phoenix across Cider Lake, all the way to the depths of the Whispering Woods, nearly reaching Starfell Lake.
"Such powerful Pyro energy. If only I could retrieve some of the divine power from my Vision, I wouldn't have to hide like this."
Famas hopped around Starfell Lake, catching fish. After absorbing over a dozen bottles of Flaming Essential Oil, his size had doubled, now nearly half the size of a Statue of The Seven.
"If only I could find someone to help me get into Mondstadt."
After eating several fish, Famas sat by the lake, tilting his head in thought.
"I could shrink myself a bit and sneak into the city with a supply cart."
"But once I'm in, how do I find Barbatos? I'd still need a legitimate identity."
Famas rested near a Flaming Flower, the familiar warmth making him too comfortable to move. Gradually, his eyes closed.
Until he heard a human's sharp cry, followed by the screams of Slimes.
"Ugh, I fell asleep! Stay alert!"
Famas's sluggish mind snapped awake. Following the sounds of Slimes and humans, he looked toward the shore of Starfell Lake. A white figure came into view—a young girl.
The girl wore a backless white dress, her short golden hair fluttering in the wind. Two scarf-like ribbons danced behind her neck. Her movements were light and swift, darting through a group of Slimes with ease. Her long boots hugged her slender legs as she skillfully wielded a thin sword, repelling the Slimes that lunged at her.
"Take this!" The girl shouted, thrusting her delicate hand forward. Her sword pierced through the soft bodies of the Slimes, sending several flying meters away.
"Yikes, that's brutal!"
Famas's oval eyes widened as the Slimes hit the ground and dissolved into thin air.
"There are so many Slimes here."
The girl sheathed her sword, which disappeared behind her back, and began carefully collecting the items dropped by the Slimes.
"Are Slimes just born to be exterminated?"
Famas watched sympathetically as the Slimes vanished into loot. At this moment, he wanted to shout: "Are nobles and kings born into their roles?!"
"Lumine, why are you running so fast? I can barely keep up!"
A soft, melodic voice called out from the distance.
A small, adorable girl floated over to the white-clad girl, hovering in the air as if using a levitation spell.
The little girl wore a light pink outfit with a milky white hue, resembling bloomers but not quite. Strange symbols adorned the front of her clothes, and a deep blue ribbon fluttered behind her neck. Her long, delicate eyelashes fluttered as her golden eyes blinked, radiating charm and cuteness.
"I want to get to Mondstadt quickly. I heard there are many believers of the wind there. Maybe the wind will bring news of my brother."
The girl in white was none other than the Traveler, Lumine.
The little girl floating beside her was, of course, Paimon.
"You can't rush things like this," Paimon pouted, her voice tinged with childish frustration. Her pouting face was unbearably cute.
"I'll be more careful next time."
Lumine lowered her head, like a child admitting her mistake to a parent.
Famas snapped out of his thoughts. He was a Slime now. If he wanted to get into the city, tricking locals wouldn't work. But deceiving a Traveler who had just arrived in Teyvat? That was entirely possible.
With this in mind, Famas quietly shifted his bulky body, preparing to speak to Lumine.
"Lumine, there's a Slime over there!"
Paimon's starry eyes darted around, spotting the deep red Slime by the lake. She immediately shouted a warning.
Lumine turned, her thin sword reappearing in her hand as she saw the Slime sneaking toward them.
"Wait, wait! We can talk! Talk!"
Paimon's shout made Famas's Slime body tremble. Although he could probably defeat Lumine with his current size and strength, his goal wasn't to fight her.
"Huh? You can talk?"
The blade stopped just centimeters away from Famas. He, who had been preparing a fireball in his mouth, quickly swallowed it back down.
"Of course, we can communicate."
Famas let out a sigh of relief.
