Nolan's heart skipped a beat as his gaze shifted downward. A cold, breathtakingly beautiful silver-haired woman knelt before him, her expression a mix of conflict and hesitation. The moment their eyes met, she quickly averted her gaze.

It was Shenhe.

In an instant, Nolan seemed to grasp the situation. Could it be that the so-called "Immersive Mode" allowed his consciousness to merge with the simulated character, directly experiencing their life and actions firsthand?

[Correct understanding!]

[As a player of the "Life Simulator," you can freely switch between "Text Mode" and "Immersive Mode." Neither mode alters the game's storyline.]

[In "Immersive Mode," you may perform actions within the limits of the system. However, any actions that contradict the storyline will be forcibly adjusted to maintain plot coherence.]

So, even in this mode, I can only experience the character's emotions and actions but can't truly control the narrative?

[Precisely. This mechanism prevents errors within the simulation.]

Nolan closed his eyes briefly, feeling the weight of the experience settle over him. While he knew what he was doing was morally reprehensible, as an outsider, he had no means to change the trajectory of events.

It had to be said—Nolan in this simulation had been drawn to Shenhe for good reason. Perhaps because of her years of cultivation, she looked far younger than her actual age. Her beauty was ethereal, her demeanor distant yet captivating. Even if someone claimed she was a Advanced in school, few would doubt it.

In this moment, notions of good and evil, right and wrong, seemed to blur into insignificance.

Nolan leaned back in his chair, the soft creak of leather filling the quiet office. His fingers tapped an anxious rhythm on the armrest as he watched Shenhe.

She was kneeling before him, her cascading silver hair veiling her delicate features. Her hands rested on his thighs, trembling slightly, her touch hesitant and uncertain.

Suddenly, the jarring sound of the office door handle turning froze them both in place. Nolan's eyes widened in panic as he recognized the sound.

"Apologies for intruding..."

The door opened to reveal a tall, elegant woman with silver hair and a commanding presence. She wore a black and gold cheongsam that perfectly accentuated her slender yet curvaceous figure.

It was Ningguang.

Although Nolan was merely a student, his position as the student council president and the son of Tianquan Academy's principal gave him significant authority. Typically, even teachers knocked before entering his office. But there were two exceptions: his father, the principal, and Ningguang, the Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing.

Ningguang rarely knocked anywhere, given her stature. She had always admired Nolan's intelligence and ambition. Yet today, her usually calm and confident expression carried an uncharacteristic hint of complexity.

"Ning... Ningguang? Why are you here?" Nolan stammered, his nerves evident. Shenhe, hearing the unexpected visitor's voice, immediately froze in place.

Ningguang's sharp eyes didn't miss the tension in the room. Normally, Nolan would have risen to greet her out of respect. Yet now, he remained seated, his posture oddly stiff.

She took a seat across from him, folding her hands neatly on her lap, and spoke with a slight frown. "I came to discuss the recent violent incident involving thirteen injured students. They're all from influential families, and smoothing things over hasn't been easy."

"Thank you, Ningguang," Nolan replied quickly, forcing a polite smile. "I didn't anticipate Chongyun would act so recklessly."

"I understand it's difficult for you, given your friendship with him," Ningguang said with a sigh. "But the severity of the incident demands appropriate consequences."

As she spoke, the desk shook slightly, and a penholder toppled to the floor with a dull thud.

Ningguang's gaze narrowed. "What's happening? Why did the desk move?"

"I... I had a leg cramp!" Nolan blurted out, his voice tinged with desperation.

"At your age? You really need to take better care of yourself," Ningguang said with a teasing smile. "Should I massage it for you?"

Nolan's face turned pale. Ningguang had always treated him with a fondness bordering on maternal, but her suggestion now sent him into a silent panic. If she discovered what was happening beneath the desk, it would be catastrophic.

"No need!" he exclaimed hastily, cold sweat forming on his brow. "I can handle it myself!"

Ningguang tilted her head, a trace of amusement in her expression. "Alright then, as you wish."

She bent down to pick up the fallen penholder but paused as her fingers brushed against something unusual beneath the desk—a thin red string.

"Hmm? What's this?" Ningguang asked, tugging at the string.

Nolan's heart sank. That string was tied to Shenhe, a mystical artifact binding her unique constitution, "Lone Star Calamity," to suppress her violent tendencies. It was an item of immense significance, and its presence here was damning.

Shenhe reacted instantly, her hand conjuring a blade of ice. With a swift motion, she severed the string before Ningguang could fully pull it out.

When Ningguang finally retrieved the fragment, it was no longer connected to anything substantial. She inspected it curiously. "This string... it carries an immortal's aura. Why would something like this be under your desk?"

Nolan scrambled for an explanation. "It's, uh... my girlfriend's bracelet! She must have dropped it here by accident."

Beneath the desk, Shenhe's face flushed with a mix of embarrassment and indignation. She glared at Nolan, her eyes silently screaming, Who is your girlfriend?!

"Oh, so you have a girlfriend now?" Ningguang said, her tone laced with mild surprise.

"Yes," Nolan replied, forcing a sheepish grin. "Please don't tell my parents."

Ningguang chuckled softly. "Don't worry, I'll keep your secret. But I'm curious—what kind of girl managed to win your heart?"

Nolan hesitated, then spoke with a practiced sincerity. "She's... extraordinary. Like a white lotus blooming on a snowy mountain—distant yet breathtaking. Beneath her cold exterior lies a warmth that captivates me completely."

Listening to his words, Shenhe's emotions were in turmoil. Despite his manipulation, there was an undeniable charm in Nolan's demeanor. Yet her resentment simmered beneath the surface.

"It seems she's quite remarkable," Ningguang said with a knowing smile. "Very well, your secret is safe with me."

She rose gracefully. "Take care, Nolan. And be mindful—keeping a low profile might be wise for now."

"Thank you, Ningguang," Nolan said, breathing a silent sigh of relief.
