Chapter 24: Jean-Luc Picard, 10 in every stat?

In the span of a few days, since receiving hundreds of thousands of emails from many companies and business, I had finally completed another element of my battle pass. My efforts in the short term for SWTOR had levelled out somewhat as I wished to build anticipation.

Finally, Fallout had over 1,000,000 players in total who had played it, with nigh on 74% staying on to continue playing my game. With this completion also came 12,000,000 Points, with the addition of the quest completing and the play-time point gain; an addition 1,700,000 Points.

[Points: 14,892,319]

My points now filled once more, I decided to look at my shop once more... This time with a completely different goal.

Gazing down the list, I stopped on the unlock daily special and immediately bought it. This would help me immensely as I could finally gain access to the... The name changed of the section... The system was being very conscientious of my views on slavery now, huh?

Shaking my head and just accepting my fate to be tied to such an eccentric power, my finger tapped the section that still denied me access.

{ACCESS DENIED} ~ [Do you wish to unlock this particular section of the Shop?]

[YES] ~ [NO]

I tapped the 'Yes' button and awaited something fancy to happen...

Nothing did, the section simply lost its' 'Access Denied' moniker. Sighing a little at the anti-climactic nature of the purchase and unlocking, the screen flickered into the page once my finger tapped it.

Light spread out from the screen into my face before slightly fading away into a bright rose-gold screen. Hundreds of different people were represented within the page, 3D models, 2D images even 4th Dimensional time-lapses of their entire timelines.

The list continued for a long time until I filtered the results. As much as these choices were enticing, I lacked significant amounts of points to actually purchase these people. Thus I moved to more reasonable parts of this section.

Happiness surged through my stomach as I saw many intelligent and cunning people that I could work with to make my company better. Selfishness was a question here, but that was quickly mitigated by the system as it dropped me hint specifying that the people 'bought' would actually wish to help me, want to be here and are willing to help me in whatever initiative I had.

It did warn me however that they still had personalities, opinions and bottom lines. They could say no to aiding me if I was to break those 'lines'. Additionally, if different characters are summoned then they can interact with one another, this could also lead to conflicts between certain people and it was advised for me to be more powerful or equally as powerful as those I summon.

Understanding the risks, I decided to go with one of the most open and understanding individuals in the list. A man that came from far in Earth's future, where aliens and humans got along. Jean-Luc Picard.

[Points: 4,892,319]

(Author note: Xavier in Marvel looks like the comics version)

With 9 million points gone in a flash I decided to finish off the enhancements the bobble-heads could give to me. Spending 2,725,000 Points to max out all of my stats to the max of 10. In an instant several different coloured flashes of light emerged at the same time.

[Points: 2,167,319]

My mind expanded to extreme heights as my muscles tensed all at once, the wriggling of growing muscle fibres sickeningly stretching across my body. At the same time all of my body felt weightless as the agility was no doubt starting to be bonded to my body. Then came the perception... My visual acuity increased to the max levels that a Human could sustain. My mental capabilities expanded beyond the normal and I could now feel the vibrations of different molecules and matter around me.

Luck didn't manifest physically or visually, instead, It came in a general sense of confidence. Endurance was next as my figure slowly started to shed white light a touch before blinking out and leaving a perfectly clean top layer of skin. Looking into a mirror, one would immediately be able to tell the difference between my past self and my current.

Same features sat on my face, same physique graced my body... But it was all enhanced with health and moisture. It was as if I had never had a hard day's work in my life. No discomfort, no pain, no strain, no bruises, no scars... Nothing! My entire body had been cleansed. Charisma couldn't be judged easily, it was more of a scale on my effect on other people... Fortunately for me, a summoning had just begun and a target for my Charisma would soon present himself.

Once the magnificent display of the light spectrum finished a singular, powerful, beam of energy slammed down into the floor before my desk. Vague outline was given to the figure of a tall-ish man of refined features. Outline became solid red, grey and black as the uniformed figure of Jean-Luc Picard stepped out from the beam, leaving it to fade into nothingness.

"Hmm..."

He looked around and stopped on several key features in the room before eventually locking his eyes with me. In this position we stayed for a few moments until he spoke up.

"I assume that you are the lovely lady Freya?"

Blinking in surprise I tapped my hands on the back of my chair, the mere fact i was speaking to him being incredibly, exciting.

"I don't know if I deserve the title, lovely, or lady, but my name is Freya."

He smiled widely, the smile itself bringing out dimples in his aged but still somewhat youthful face. Bald as he was his head reflected a descent amount of light but that was off-set by the charming and ,admittedly, disarming countenance he brought to the room.

"Whether one is worth a title, is in the content of their character and the grace with which they act. As far as I can see, from the little that I have come to know about you in the space between life and death, you deserve to be called a lady."

"A charmer, are you? You do know I am not interested in men...?"

"You assume my kindness for romantic interest, no, certainly not. I understand you required my assistance... And it just so happens to be that you have saved me from the rather inconvenient side effects of life."

"That being...???"

"Death. See, by your powers, whatever they may be... You have brought me back to a time, physically, where I am healthy once more. It seems I owe you a great deal. While I cannot yet comprehend the nature of this second chance, I am grateful for it."

Understanding his confusion and awe at the current moment, his almost cyclical examination of my clothing and gaze outside the window, I moved away from behind my desk and chose to move closer to him, hoping to sow trust between us; keeping in mind the hint I had gotten from my system earlier.

"With your powers you have brought me from the brink of oblivion. But at what cost? Why did you do this? It seems that the current era is the depths of earth's past... Before the third world war. Why have bring me here for your task?"

"First, I would urge calm... This situation is a new experience for me as well."

He took a small step back but retained an open posture, his experience-filled eyes scanning me from top to bottom. His right hand, although seeming rather still was staying close to a device on the right hand side of his pants; not threateningly, but cautiously.

"I am as calm as I can be in the current situation. I understand you have saved me... But, the question still remains, why me? My presence here could have far-reaching consequences. You do not strike me as someone who takes such actions lightly, thus I must re-iterate my question once more..."

"The manner in which I brought you here is sourced by a power that is not fully known to me. It is pragmatic and kind in all of its abilities that I have yet seen. One of these powers, is to earn 'points' and purchase certain items, powers, magics... Even bring people to me who may be able to help me in my goal."

A frown immediately spread over his face at the mention of 'bringing' people who might help.

"If what you are saying is true. Then you are capable of purchasing people from the dead? And you chose me... What purpose would I serve in a time period such as this, where all my friends are no longer present, where my entire experience as a Starfleet captain is rendered moot...? Your reasoning does not link with what you are conveying."

"I am sorry. I know it is a hard pill to swallow. Recently I was killed on my own world and brought back in this very apartment. Here I was given a chance at a new life whilst also having what I call 'The System' foisted upon me. With this system, my goal is to create games and entertainment for the people of this world."

A small pause was had, to let him process, before continuing.

"Since coming here my goal has been to purely allow my fans and gamers to enjoy themselves, expand their imagination and to live my life, personally, to the best I can. I have no grand schemes for conquest, or hatred... There is no motive to bringing you here to help me other than that I am in need of aid by someone that, from my understanding of you, I could trust."

He tensed slightly, his eyes blinking slowly as he attempted to digest each word. At first his body language screamed caution but after some time, it eased, into a comfortable if mildly cautious stance. Walking over to a nearby window with his body still mildly faced towards me in guardedness he gazed out at the full view of New-York, in all of its' glory. The cars, the lights and the bastions of industrial might called skyscraper dotting the distant sky as the sun slowly rose in the distance...

"Based on, my, understanding of you... You would have very little reason to lie. I understood already that you created something for people and that they sourced joy from this. However, sourced from what you have just spoken to me... I believe I can trust you for now. But do not misunderstand, there's much more for me to understand..."

A smile coalesced on my face as I clapped my hand in front of my face, akin to an excited fan seeing their most favourite superhero for the first time.

'Wow, the Star Trek legend is before me and his is just as cool as in the show! Hooo... Calm down me, there is much to explain to him and work with him on and that all starts from, Trust! Although I don't know if these summons can be trusted fully... Or the system for that matter...'

{Hint 6969: They can. The system can.}

'Wow system, just, wow... Totally sarcastic response there...'
