Chapter 528: 515 The switched computer
As the Elder Race's mothership passed through the Void, Bai Zhongqi did not experience any passage of time. Reentering the Void, Bai Zhongqi developed a deeper connection with this place. He seemed to realize that everything existed here and yet nothing existed, that it could lead to any point in time, and yet it seemed to lead nowhere at all.
In the Void, it was impossible to exist in the form of flesh and blood. However, inside the mothership of the Elder Race, which was essentially a mini Universe, time could be controlled by the Elder Race themselves. Lingering here posed no issue for Zero.
Traversing the Void within the mothership, Bai Zhongqi could set "time" to one second or float for countless billions of years because the concept of time in the Void or within the self-contained world of the mothership was completely different from the unchangeable and inertia-ridden time in the normal Universe.
Bai Zhongqi even personally stepped out of the mothership, standing atop it, feeling the Void.
When he closed his eyes, he seemed to see colorful lines, which also seemed to carry melodies, floating in the Void, wrapping around him and even on him, making him look like a tightly bound mummy.
"Is this causality?" Bai Zhongqi wondered curiously, but he couldn't confirm it.
When he looked at this scene with his "Heart Eye," it gave him a tingling sensation on his scalp. Entangled on him were not just billions and trillions of causal threads, and he didn't know how many people, how many lives, or even Universes were causally linked to him. No wonder the ancient immortals in mythology did not wish to entangle with causality; the colorful threads wrapping around him were frightening enough.
Among all the colorful threads, Bai Zhongqi noticed a black line.
Among the other brightly colored lines, the black one was particularly striking and eerie. Bai Zhongqi finally decided to follow this black line and see where it would take him.
Returning to the mothership and piloting the colossal ship that did not require any commands, he moved along the trajectory of the black line. Without any concept of distance, Bai Zhongqi merely had to will it, and following the black line, he emerged from the Void into a new world.
The mothership appeared in outer space, and in close proximity was a planet, which Bai Zhongqi could easily identify as his hometown, Earth.
"Is this Earth?" Zero stood in the mothership, looking outside.
Bai Zhongqi nodded, "This Universe is undoubtedly the Second Universe, and it seems we can only shuttle between the two Universes for now. However, this Earth is clearly not from the Star Alliance Era."
It was an obvious fact. During the Star Alliance Era, space transportation on Earth was extremely busy. Orbiting gravity wells were filled with orbital facilities laid out by Bai Zhongqi, while the Earth he currently saw had only sparse artificial satellites floating in space.
With the mothership's cloaking mode activated, it was impossible for anyone on Earth to notice it. Bai Zhongqi piloted the ship towards Earth and eventually stopped above San Francisco.
"This is where the Chancellor once lived?" Zero looked at the small apartment below with curiosity.
A look of reminiscence appeared on Bai Zhongqi's face, the quiet and serene neighborhood is where he had lived for over a year.
The mothership quickly accessed Earth's internet and acquired the time—it was six months before the R19 event.
"Returning here, am I really meant to deliver the Supreme Command to myself?" Bai Zhongqi mused quietly.
In front of him was now a computer, exactly like the one he used to use, only this one was loaded with his original Supreme Command, containing the essence of the First Universe. With the Elder Race's technology, Bai Zhongqi crafted this device.
As he stood watching, suddenly at that moment, two girls emerged from the apartment next door to Bai Zhongqi, one of them being Han Jiaxue—Han Jiaxue from many years ago.
Seeing Han Jiaxue's lovely and attractive face, Bai Zhongqi's eyes became a little misty for a moment. Zero noticed his reaction and empathized deeply, wanting to hold his hand, but after moving her hand slightly, she withdrew her tender grasp.
Perhaps the Chancellor did have feelings for her, but he had always been so fond of Han Jiaxue and had never forgotten her. In that instant, Zero was willing to give Bai Zhongqi back to Han Jiaxue. At least, Zero knew she would spend an eternal life with Bai Zhongqi, and nothing else mattered.
Bai Zhongqi wanted to rush forward and embrace the girl, but he stopped himself. His appearance was now completely different from years ago, and he could not be recognized as the same person. Moreover, Bai Zhongqi could feel that every move he made in this time and space might bring about disastrous consequences.
"I had no feeling when killing Gang Naj, so why in this time space, do I feel tremendous fear at the thought of doing something?" Bai Zhongqi thought to himself.
As the two girls talked, the female student beside Han Jiaxue said, "Xuexue, don't tell me you've actually fallen for the nerd next door. Although he's an academic prodigy and seems to be decent, he doesn't have money, isn't that handsome, and has no taste. There are plenty of rich and handsome guys chasing you at school; why are you fixated on him?"
Han Jiaxue's cheeks flushed slightly, and she playfully smacked the girl's arm, "Don't talk nonsense."
But her shy expression was something she couldn't hide at all.
Han Jiaxue gently knocked on the door of Bai Zhongqi's apartment, the girl exuding an air of subdued frustration, along with a look of resigned sorrow.
After a while, a somewhat unkempt young man opened the door, his hair messy and wearing pajamas adorned with a bear pattern. His eyes clearly brightened when he saw Han Jiaxue at the door, yet he appeared slightly flustered.
Han Jiaxue generously said to Bai Zhongqi at the time, "Senior, Jenny and I are planning to play badminton, do you want to come along?"
Nerd Bai Zhongqi was obviously a bit flustered, his mouth stumbling over the words as he replied, "Um, well, I'm not very good at badminton."
Han Jiaxue laughed and said, "It's okay, we're not good at it either."
"Oh, but I'm currently helping a classmate prepare review materials, and I really can't get away right now."
The girl named Jenny clearly looked down on Bai Zhongqi, saying repeatedly, "Ah, is that so? Then maybe next time. Senior, you should stay busy, Xuexue, let's go, we shouldn't bother the senior any longer."
As she spoke, she pushed Han Jiaxue downstairs. When Han Jiaxue went down, there was a hint of disappointment on her face.
There was also disappointment on Nerd Bai Zhongqi's face, but he quickly turned back into his room.
Two guys watching from a distance, one teasingly said to Bai Zhongqi, "Chancellor, you really don't know how to flirt with girls. With the way you are, how did you end up getting together with Han Jiaxue?"
Bai Zhongqi smiled wryly, replying helplessly, "Good things take time, I guess."
Watching Han Jiaxue's retreating figure, Bai Zhongqi's longing for her grew even stronger. He had not deeply considered that at that time, his junior was already fond of him. With no confidence, and being plain ordinary, he couldn't face someone's feelings for him and instead hypnotized himself into believing it was an illusion.
Bai Zhongqi still vaguely remembered this scene because he was so annoyed at the time, just helping someone organize materials, yet he had missed the time to be with Han Jiaxue. He returned to his room in a huff, sulked for a while, then got sleepy and took a nap...
Bai Zhongqi and Zero slipped into his old rental room without much trouble, Bai Zhongqi even opened the fridge familiarly and poured himself a glass of Coke.
Then he chuckled to himself, saying, "I was wondering why I found my fridge nearly out of Coke when I woke up that day, turns out it was me who drank it."
Zero rolled her eyes at him, but seeing Bai Zhongqi like this made her incredibly happy.
With a little trick, Nerd Bai Zhongqi remained in a deep sleep, unaware.
Bai Zhongqi picked up his original computer, and, being meticulous, he even adjusted the substitute computer to match the scratches and stains. This one contained the Supreme Command and the essence of the Universe; its performance could probably match all the computers in the world combined, but of course, Bai Zhongqi would not unleash so many functions.
All the files from the original computer were transferred. Only when running "Galaxy Domination Guide" would it utilize higher capabilities. Moreover, this was not only a matter of high-level abilities, every detail in the universe could be displayed on this small computer, and with Bai Zhongqi's commands, it would feed back to the First Universe and become reality.
"I never imagined that the person who gave me this Golden Finger was actually myself," Bai Zhongqi couldn't help but exclaim.
Zero asked, "Having switched them out, has the Chancellor's task to stabilize the two universes been completed?"
Bai Zhongqi pursed his lips and frowned slightly, replying, "I don't know. There might still be some minor details to adjust, but at least for now, all the logical loops in this part of my life seemed to be complete."
Zero remarked, "The Elder Race really has it tough."
Bai Zhongqi nodded, "The price of eternal life is naturally not small."
He strutted out of his bedroom, pausing to take a few more glances at his past self, jokingly adding, "I think I'm quite cute."
Zero affectionately kissed him on the face, saying, "You always were."
The two of them vanished from the cramped rental room.
A few hours later, the still faintly disheartened nerd got up.
He sniffed, mumbling to himself, "Why does it smell nice in here? Is it the scent left by Han my junior? Sigh, I must be obsessing."
Climbing out from under the blankets, the nerd leisurely turned on his computer, thinking, "I'll play another game."
He browsed through web pages, flipping through a few, until he spotted something interesting.
"Galaxy Domination Guide"? Cool name, I've never heard of it. Doesn't take up much hard drive space either, might as well give it a try."
