Galaxy Domination Guide

Chapter 409: 400 is either fighting or preparing for a fight

Huang Quan bid farewell to Lao Shun and walked out of the high-end luxury residence located within the third ring of Jing. He strolled along the streets of this city where he was born and raised, noticing many differences from the past, yet many similarities remained. The towering buildings, dozens of floors high, mostly retained their original structures, with the majority undergoing internal renovation, updates to wiring and IoT retrofitting, among other things.

Even some buildings, which were not considered particularly attractive, had a new outer shell added, transforming them into stunning, sci-fi-like structures.

As Huang Quan meandered, he came across a crowd gathered around a demolition and reconstruction project. A high-rise office building from the 90s was scheduled for demolition under the city government's plans to erect a taller, more advanced building on the original site.

This kind of event was no longer rare. In a major city like the Imperial Capital, except for some landmark buildings or those with historical significance that couldn't be entirely reconstructed, most faced the fate of being demolished and rebuilt.

In such a dense commercial area, taking down a high-rise used to be a huge challenge, but with Iridium Star Technology, it had become a straightforward operation. Nevertheless, the citizens still enjoyed watching such spectacles.

Around the building, Shield Generators were erected, and the massive high-rise was completely enveloped within a reverse shield.

With a thunderous boom, the building was detonated, severing it mid-height, dust billowed, and the structure slid down like collapsing toy blocks. This type of controlled demolition didn't require much skill; the shattered debris and dust were fully contained by the reverse shield, ensuring that the spectating crowd, standing mere meters away, was not hit by debris or dust.

Next, recycling ships and robots would arrive on scene to process the building's waste and debris, breaking it down into various materials, which would then be used to construct new objects.

The technology of the Star Alliance now made it so that society didn't produce much waste. Over ninety-nine percent of materials could be recycled after being discarded.

Huang Quan sighed, "What an era we live in."

He had returned to Earth for a vacation, with a generous month off. However, afterward, he was to join the Universe Army and head far off to the Yesha Star Field where Lingge Star was located. The Universe Army now needed to cover a wider defensive area, yet defense still had its focal points.

After discussions between Xiao Yu, the Universe Army Commander, and Chancellor Bai Zhongqi, a key defense had been established for three Star Domains within two Star Sectors of the Star Alliance. These three Star Domains were Danlu Interstellar Cloud, the foundation of the Star Alliance; Yesha Star Field, where Lingge Star is a new important Administrative Star outside of Earth with a high population and a good level of cooperation, also previously a forward base occupied by Teizene, thereby holding significant military value;

and Guiyun Star Domain, where Taoran Star is critically important due to the production of Eternal Crystal Stone, which the Benefactors and Controllers could potentially directly attack to recapture this planet that produces the stone.

More intelligence brought back by the Star Alliance's Reconnaissance Ships gradually clarified the astronomical layout within the two Star Sectors. It turned out that these sectors lay within a material void of the Galaxy, where habitable planets are far less numerous than in other sectors. Nonetheless, even so, there were still quite a number of planets within these two sectors.

Within the Yesha Star Field, deemed to be of key protection, aside from Lingge Star, there were three other habitable planets, all bearing life but none with the Primate Clan nor a developed Interstellar Civilization; they were all in rather primitive and backward stages, not even having reached the level of Earth's ancient civilizations.

Within the Guiyun Star Domain, the largest of the Three-Star Domain, there was only Taoran Star as a habitable planet, and most other planets fell under the category of resource planets.

Huang Quan, as an officer of the Universe Army, was privy to all these developments in real-time. After arriving at Lingge Star, his primary task would be to lead the new batch of Universe Army troops there.

Following the capture of Lingge Star, Bai Zhongqi had initiated a large-scale recruitment drive. No matter their previous nationality or any existing animosities, Bai Zhongqi had tossed them all into the barracks of the Universe Army. The Army believed that within a year and under a complete and robust system, Lingge Star could provide the Star Alliance with two million soldiers, mainly mobile infantry and only about twenty to thirty percent qualified to be part of the crew.

As Huang Quan looked at the bustling Imperial Capital, where people lived peaceful and tranquil lives, he felt as if he was from another world. He was a soldier who had participated in numerous battles, and although he served as a staff officer, war and death were never far away. Yet here, in his hometown, ordinary folk continued with their lives. Their lives had changed profoundly, becoming extremely prosperous and even somewhat boring, with war seeming far removed from them.

"Less than a year ago, the entire population of Earth was forced into underground shelters," he reflected.

The worldwide conflict had brought unprecedented unity to Earth. People, filled with fear but undaunted, had ultimately defeated the enemy and restored safety and peace to the planet. Now, it increasingly seemed to people that the enemy would find it hard to strike the Solar System again.

Yet Huang Quan could not help but worry. As a staff officer, he knew more details. The Benefactors and Controllers were two very dangerous adversaries, and together with the previous enemy, Teizene, the Star Alliance was facing unparalleled opposition.

He had confidence in the Alliance's strength, but faced with such a potential war, he couldn't help but hesitate and worry.

Taking an indoor maglev public bus, Huang Quan headed back to his military garrison. Back in the day, although he served in the army, he spent more time loitering outside, engaging in various odd jobs. Now that he was part of the Universe Army, he felt increasingly out of place in urban life. Experience exclusive tales on My Virtual Library Empire

"It seems my life is inseparable from the Universe Army. Until the two major foes are thoroughly defeated, I won't be able to put my mind at ease," Huang Quan realized with a sense of duty.

Being transferred to Lingge Star as part of the training center, he would have to part ways with frontline comrades like Taschwe and Jun Jiushao. Thinking of Taschwe's shapelessness and Jun Jiushao's serene and elegant countenance, Huang Quan felt a tinge of regret.

"When will the Star Alliance achieve true peace, so people aren't busy preparing for the next war?" Huang Quan pondered this question, though he knew no answer. Within Eastern culture, there was a concept of "remaining vigilant in peace times"; perhaps the Star Alliance couldn't escape this fate of perpetual war readiness and combat.

Who knows.
