Chapter 49: It's Over Now

Riser's body moved with the precision of a seasoned warrior, flames licking the air behind him as his wings flared open. But that wasn't what stood out to Izashi. No, it was the look in Riser's eyes—confusion mixed with a tinge of disbelief as he stared across the room at Kuroka. He narrowed his eyes, his voice a bit shaky.

"How... How are you here?" Riser's words were tinged with a hint of panic, though he tried to mask it. His eyes darted to where he'd last seen her, being chased by his peerage members. "I saw you outside! You were being chased around. How the hell are you sitting here?"

Izashi, still lounging in his chair, waved a hand lazily as if brushing away Riser's confusion like an annoying fly. "Riser, Riser, Riser... you really haven't figured it out yet, have you?" Izashi leaned back, adjusting the collar of his shirt with an amused smirk playing on his lips. "You think you're here by choice? No, my friend, you've been brought here. My dear bishop's little game outside? That was a distraction. Don't worry, she won't interfere with what comes next."

Riser blinked, the weight of Izashi's words slowly sinking in. The Phenex heir's brow furrowed, but his lips curled into a sneer. "Whatever trick you're playing, it doesn't matter." Flames burst from Riser's back, wings of vermillion fire crackling with a golden tint as they spread wide, sending waves of heat through the room. "These flames are the pride of the Phenex family, forged in the heart of our legacy! Let's see if you can withstand the heat, Gremory!"

In a flash, Riser charged, a wall of fire propelling him forward, aiming to engulf Izashi where he sat. But Izashi didn't move—not until the very last second. With a casual leap to the side, he dodged the incoming inferno, watching with faint amusement as the wave of flames obliterated the table and chair he'd been sitting on moments before. The room was filled with a sudden burst of heat and ash, the furniture crumbling into charred embers.

Riser's momentum carried him forward, crashing through the wall with an explosion of brick and mortar. He sailed through the air outside the school building, his flames painting the sky in streaks of orange and gold as he flew upward. From below, Izashi stood with his hands in his pockets, watching Riser ascend.

Hovering above, Riser looked down with a grim expression, his eyes blazing with fury. "So you like to run from attacks, huh?" His voice echoed across the battlefield. "Let's see how you dodge this!" He raised both hands above his head, gathering an immense orb of fire between his palms. The temperature spiked, and the sky darkened under the growing ball of flames, swirling with intense heat and power.

Izashi remained still, watching calmly as the flames swirled overhead. Riser's voice boomed with malice, "Die, Izashi Gremory! Burn to ashes beneath the pride of the Phenex!"

Riser hurled the massive fireball toward the school building, the sheer size of it threatening to incinerate everything in its path. The heat was palpable, even from a distance, and the flames roared as they descended like a meteor.

Izashi sighed, raising a single hand. "What's the rush, Riser? Can't we enjoy this fight a little longer?"

The moment the fireball came within range, Izashi's aura flared to life. Crimson energy surged outward, swirling around him in a vortex of power. The raw force of his aura manifested into a dome of pure destructive energy, a deep crimson glow that encased the entire school building.

The fireball met the dome—and was instantly swallowed by it, disappearing without a trace.

Riser's attack hadn't even put up a fight. It was obliterated the second it touched Izashi's barrier.

From their seats in the viewing room, the heads of the devil families watched the spectacle unfold on their holographic screens. The Gremory and Phenex family leaders exchanged glances. Lord Phenex leaned forward, his eyes narrowing as he observed Izashi's effortless control of his magic.

"Impressive," he muttered, not taking his eyes off the screen. "The power and control that your son exhibits... It's beyond what I expected." He paused, letting the weight of his next words settle in. "So this is the one who will inherit the Gremory house?"

Zeoticus, Rias and Izashi's father, chuckled in response, though his laughter was tinged with the same awe. Inside, he was just as surprised as Lord Phenex. 'When did Izashi's power become so refined? he wondered. I didn't even realize he'd grown this strong. If he continues like this, he could reach Satan-class... perhaps even surpass it.'

But aloud, he simply said, "It may be too early to say for sure, but... yes. I believe he is the one most suited to inherit the Gremory name."

From beside them, Venelana, Izashi's mother, shot both men a sharp look. "Enough chatter. Let me concentrate on my son's fight." Both men quickly silenced themselves, knowing better than to argue with her when she had that tone.

Back on the battlefield, Riser gritted his teeth, the frustration clear on his face as he scanned the dome for any sign of weakness. But there was none. His eyes darted around, searching for a way to penetrate Izashi's defense.

When the crimson dome finally faded, Riser was ready. He launched himself forward, flying at Izashi with blinding speed, determined to strike the moment his shield dropped. He reached out, grabbing Izashi by the arm and yanking him into the sky.

Izashi barely reacted, letting himself be pulled along as if he were bored with the entire thing. They soared upward, higher and higher, until the school grounds were nothing but a speck below. Riser's flames flared brighter, his killing intent clear as he looked down at Izashi with a crazed grin.

"This ends now!" Riser roared, hurling Izashi toward the ground with all his strength. As Izashi plummeted, Riser unleashed a torrent of Phoenix flames, sending a blazing inferno to consume him before he could hit the ground.

The impact shook the earth. A massive explosion rocked the area, and a pillar of fire shot into the sky, engulfing everything around it. Riser hovered above, a smug smile curling his lips as he watched the destruction unfold.

But then, a voice cut through the chaos, cold and unbothered. "Was that all, Riser?"

Riser's smirk vanished in an instant. His eyes widened as he peered through the dust and flames, searching for the source of the voice. And there, standing amidst the wreckage, completely unscathed, was Izashi. The ground around him was scorched and broken, but Izashi looked as though he hadn't even been touched.

"How...?" Riser muttered, disbelief creeping into his voice.

Izashi dusted off his jacket with a casual flick of his wrist, his expression as calm as ever. "You should know by now, Riser. Your flames won't work on me."

Riser clenched his fists, his pride wounded. "Shut up! I'll burn you to nothing!" He gathered more flames in his hands, preparing another attack, but Izashi simply raised a hand.

"My turn," Izashi said, his voice low and dangerous. "Let's see how you handle this... Rising Dragon."

A beam of crimson light shot from Izashi's finger, and in an instant, it took the form of a massive dragon, its scales shimmering with destructive energy. The dragon let out a deafening roar as it hurtled toward Riser, its eyes gleaming with murderous intent.

Riser barely had time to react. He summoned his aura, shaping it into the form of a Phoenix to counter the attack. The two forces clashed in mid-air, the dragon colliding with the Phoenix in a blaze of fire and destruction. The impact sent shockwaves through the air, and Riser strained to maintain his shield.

But Izashi wasn't done.

"Oh, you can handle one of those?" Izashi's voice cut through the roar of battle, his tone mockingly impressed. "How about ten?"

Riser's eyes widened in horror as more dragons began to form around Izashi, each one pulsating with raw destructive energy. One by one, they launched themselves at Riser, converging on him from every direction.

"No!" Riser shouted, his flames flaring brighter as he tried to escape. He flew at top speed, dodging and weaving through the air as the dragons chased him relentlessly. He barely managed to stay ahead of them, but the panic in his movements was clear.

His focus was entirely on the dragons behind him, desperately trying to avoid their strikes. He didn't realize until it was too late that he was flying straight toward Izashi, who stood calmly in his path, waiting for the perfect moment.

Riser turned his head forward just in time to see Izashi's fist coming toward him.

"Keep your dirty hands off me, roasted chicken," Izashi muttered before his punch connected with Riser's chest.

The force of the blow sent Riser crashing to the ground, his body bouncing off the earth like a ragdoll before slamming into a boulder. For a moment, everything was still. Riser lay in the rubble, barely conscious, his body broken and battered.

Izashi landed lightly on his feet, dusting off his hands as if he'd just finished a routine chore. "It's over."

But as Izashi turned his back, Riser's hand twitched. With a grunt of effort, Riser reached into his coat and pulled out a small vial. A Phoenix Tear. He downed the contents in one gulp, the healing properties of the liquid instantly mending his wounds.

Izashi had only just turned around when Riser, now fully healed, launched himself at him again, flames erupting around his body as he closed in with terrifying speed.

But Izashi was ready.

"Didn't I tell you?" Izashi said calmly, catching Riser's flaming fist in mid-air. A wave of crimson energy flared to life around Izashi, and Riser's flames were instantly snuffed out, his aura shattered like glass. "It's over."

Riser let out a pained gasp as Izashi crushed his hand, the bones cracking under the pressure. And then, without hesitation, Izashi began to strike. Punch after punch landed on Riser's body, each blow sending shockwaves through the ground.

The audience watching from the Underworld couldn't believe their eyes. Devils all over were stunned by the sheer display of power and speed. Izashi moved like a whirlwind, each punch more devastating than the last. Riser could barely keep up, his body flailing helplessly under the onslaught.

In the viewing room, Lord Phenex watched in silence, his expression dark. His son was being utterly destroyed before his eyes, and there was nothing he could do about it. He turned to Zeoticus Gremory, his voice heavy with resignation.

"You've truly raised a powerful son," Lord Phenex said quietly. "Unlike my own... useless one."

Zeoticus didn't respond. He couldn't. He was too stunned by what he was seeing. Izashi's strength... it was far beyond what he had ever imagined. 'Could even I... stand against him now?'

The thought planted a seed of fear in Zeoticus's mind, one that he couldn't easily shake.

Back on the battlefield, Riser lay motionless, beaten and bruised, barely conscious as Izashi stood over him, his crimson aura flickering like a storm around him. The fight was over.

Izashi didn't say a word. He didn't need to.

As he walked away, the weight of his victory hung heavy in the air, a clear reminder to everyone watching:

Izashi Gremory was no longer someone to be taken lightly.
