Fruit Farmer In A Cultivation World

Chapter 13: Green Wind Spirit Farmer Association

"Senior, could it be that you have a way for me to get some?"

As soon as Sen Lin finished speaking, all traces of intoxication disappeared from the man's face. A professional merchant-like smile quickly replaced his previous expression and he walked closer while bringing out a small paper.

"Young friend, I'm Lin Tu from the eastern branch of Green Wind Spirit Farmer Association. I hope you'll forgive me for eavesdropping. I didn't mean to do so but I couldn't help it as my sharp ears are a side-effect of my cultivation technique."

Sen Lin took the piece of paper that seemed to be a business card and studied it closely. According to the paper, Lin Tu was a junior salesman affiliated with the Green Wind Spirit Farmer Association.

"You can see from the stamp at the bottom right that this card is genuine. If you run your spiritual energy through it, you'll be able to verify its authenticity.

"I'm sorry but I am just a mortal with no spiritual energy."

Lin Tu showed a puzzled expression. He could definitely feel a faint trace of spiritual energy leaking from the young man. He wanted to ask the other party why they were lying but decided against it. Right now, his top priority was to meet his monthly quota of reaching three sales. If he failed, he'd lose his job.

"Haha, that's alright." Lin Tu brushed off the answer sheepishly and continued. "You're in luck. The Green Wind Spirit Farmer Association has a special package for new members. If you agree to join us as an aspiring spirit farmer, we'll provide you with spirit seedlings free of cost. Of course, it's under the condition that you'll sell the mature spirit plant to us."

Sen Lin found it difficult to maintain his cool. Not only had he experienced a cliffhanger just an hour ago but now he was being roped in to join an association by a salesman.

So far, he had only known villagers who worked as farmers, carpenters, weavers, and stuff. Professions like doctors and lawyers were already rare but now he was face to face with a salesman. And that wasn't all, the salesman was a cultivator.

He had initially thought that cultivators were a bunch who kept to themselves to practice immortal arts and chase after longevity. But from the look of things, he was terribly wrong. Given that Lin Tu was a junior salesman, it implied that there were probably senior salesman, managers, and other professions that shared close roots with his.

"Will anyone be able to raise the spirit seedling? What if it dies under my care?"

"Please don't worry too much." Lin Tu put on a reassuring smile, "The spirit seedlings included in the newbie package are very beginner friendly. Even rookie cultivators who just stepped into the first stage of qi condensation will have more than 80% chance to succeed."

Sen Lin grew confused listening to the salesman's words. "What's qi condensation stage?"

Lin Tu's expression grew ugly. Not only was the youngster in front of him acting oblivious about the cultivation stages but also mocking him.

He wanted to do nothing more than slap the young man until he knew better than to mess with a busy cultivator like him. However, just as the thought rose in his heart, he suppressed it immediately.

It was already hard to find cultivators who were willing to invest time into raising spirit plants. If he were to lose his temper here, he would have to say goodbye to the job he worked so hard to get.

Lin Tu reminded himself of the mantra, 'The customer is king' and put on a forced smile.

"Cultivators are generally divided into several stages. The first stage is known as body refining – this is where cultivators refine their body into vessels capable of absorbing spiritual energy. Then comes qi condensation – this is where cultivators begin storing spiritual energy in their body which they can use to cast spiritual arts and techniques."

Sen Lin digested the information and grew even more confused. He was just an ordinary mortal who hadn't even tried his hand on body refining. How could he possibly be eligible for this newbie package that the salesman was talking about?

But thinking of it, he decided to not worry about it too much. Lin Tu had only said that those in the qi condensation realm had over 80% success rate. This meant that there might be a small probability for a normal mortal like him to succeed as well.

Convinced by his deduction, Sen Lin asked the main thing that was worrying him. "Can these spirit seedlings be grown during winter?"

"Of course." Lin Tu answered brightly. It looked like he had finally found a sucker stupid enough to labor for the association. As long as he got the young man to sign a contract, he'd no longer have to worry about being fired for having a lackluster performance.

"The association has considered all possibilities and changes the seedlings provided according to the season and topography. Since winter is fast approaching, the newbie package assigned to you will have spirit seedlings that can be nurtured even when its freezing outside."

"That's great. I'll join the association as an aspiring spirit farmer."

"That's good. That's good."

Lin Tu couldn't stop himself from muttering twice. "Please place your thumb here, the contract will be completed once your spiritual energy signature has been imprinted in the paper."

Sen Lin took the contract from the drunk salesman and went through all the terms and conditions. Seeing that there weren't any suspicious clauses, he pressed his thumb on an empty spot as instructed.

As his digit touched the paper, he felt a strange sensation, as if a mass of energy had been pulled out of his body through the point of contact.

When the sensation faded away, a fingerprint like mark could be seen on the contract.

"Great, you definitely won't regret choosing the Green Wind Spirit Farmer Association. I'll have your seedlings delivered to you tomorrow. Please be ready."

Without giving Sen Lin any chance to ask about the strange sensation, Lin Tu pocketed the contract before walking away at a pace that was at least twice as fast as Sen Lin's fastest running speed.

'What a strange man… or maybe he is normal for a cultivator. Forget it, who cares if he is weird or not. All that matters to me is that I get the spirit seedling. But how is he going to find me when he has the seed? I didn't tell him about where I live. Do I have to wait here for him?'

Sen Lin suddenly grew worried. What if he couldn't get his spirit seedlings because the salesman couldn't find him?

'Can I really trust him? He was already drinking when it's barely past noon. Forget it. No point in thinking about it. I read the contract twice and there's nothing disadvantageous for me. If he can't find me, I'll just remember this encounter as a run in with a strange cultivator.'
