Chapter 4 - Du Qiangwei's Astonishment! Successful Containment
Chapter 4: Du Qiangwei’s Astonishment! Successful Containment
Du Qiangwei’s icy gaze scanned her surroundings. A look of astonishment appeared on her lovely face as she saw fallen demon warriors strewn all around. No signs of bullets or artillery were on the ground, and their gruesome deaths were horrifying.
Their necks were twisted and contorted, and even their demon armor had failed to offer much protection. “How is this possible?” Du Qiangwei felt a shiver in her heart, finding it almost unbelievable. On Earth, she couldn’t fathom anyone, except perhaps super soldiers, having the incredible strength to twist these demons to death.
However, there was a catch. Du Qiangwei was now considered the mightiest super soldier, with others merely on the backup roster. Even she, self-proclaimed as the strongest, couldn’t imagine possessing such ferocious strength to cause this carnage.
Du Qiangwei’s beautiful eyes swept over the corpses, and she noticed some peculiar sculptures nearby. “Is there a statue in this place? That… doesn’t seem logical, does it? But… what does logic matter to me?”
In the projection, Du Qiangwei suddenly appeared on television screens. “Run, quickly! Watch out for the apparition behind you!”
“You must maintain eye contact with that entity! Only then will it spare your life!”
“This is too terrifying! How can such a creature exist?”
“This being possesses immense strength, twisting steel like clay. It’s truly horrifying!”
“What a shame for this beautiful lady; she’s about to meet a twisted fate!”
Some people tried to warn Du Qiangwei, but their efforts were futile as she couldn’t hear anything. She could only confirm that the previous description of the statue’s eerie killings was accurate. It would only attack when directly gazed upon. Duao and the others, who wanted to warn her, couldn’t keep up. There was a strange force field around the statue, disrupting all communication.
Du Qiangwei walked slowly through the jungle, growing increasingly anxious as she proceeded. The demon squad that was supposed to be attacked had all perished here, not a single one surviving. Even their deaths didn’t alert the stationed troops at the Yunshan Base. It was bizarre, unexplainably so.
As she turned around to move forward, the statue behind her began to move strangely. Its concrete and steel face seemed to bear a sinister smile as its hands slowly extended toward Du Qiangwei’s neck. The air grew colder. General Duao, witnessing all of this, felt his heart in his throat. He tried to contact Du Qiangwei but couldn’t succeed.
“Behind you, Qiangwei! Behind you!” General Duao clenched his fist, his inner turmoil intensifying.
Whoosh—
Boom—
In the footage, the statue launched its attack, and to everyone’s surprise, Du Qiangwei mysteriously stepped into the void at the last moment, narrowly avoiding it. However, despite her astonishing strength, she was still sent flying like a punching bag, crashing heavily into a giant tree.
“Wow—awesome! This beauty is the only person who escaped the statue’s attack!”
“Did I just see things? It seemed like the beauty…teleported?”
“Both of them are monsters!”
“Run, beauty, run!”
The audience went wild.
Rose, lying on the ground, gasped for breath. Her eyes widened, her heart pounding like never before, as she stared fixedly at the seemingly “innocent” and strange statue before her.
It’s this guy! This statue attacked me! Could it be? When Du Qiangwei realized something, her expression changed slightly.
SCP-173 – It must be directly gazed upon to prevent it from killing! The Foundation recently released the information! This is a strange containment object, indeed!
Sure enough, when Du Qiangwei directly gazed at it, the statue remained motionless in its original place, as if nothing had happened.
“Damn it! The communicator doesn’t work at all! There’s still a distance to Yunshan Base from here, and once my line of sight is interrupted, this thing will likely attack again!” Du Qiangwei felt helpless.
If it weren’t for her sudden inspiration and battlefield intuition that led her to move and activate the micro-wormhole teleportation, she would probably have ended up as a lifeless body by now.
But the problem is, does that mean she has to keep looking at this thing… until the end of time? At this moment, Rose felt somewhat miserable.
She didn’t dare to divert her attention to look at the screen in the sky. Just as Du Qiangwei was at a loss for what to do, the roar of an armed helicopter filled the air.
“It’s Dad!” Du Qiangwei felt a surge of joy. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a black helicopter with the Foundation logo descending.
Then, a fully armed team of soldiers rushed over. The Foundation emblem was on every one of their armbands! And each person’s face and physique were exactly the same!
“The Foundation? Clones?” Du Qiangwei was startled. But she suddenly noticed three soldiers standing beside the statue, their gazes locked onto it, and then they moved it away and loaded it onto the helicopter.
“Wait!” Realizing what was happening, Du Qiangwei exclaimed, trying to get them to stop. But they completely ignored her.
The helicopter roared and disappeared into the sky. A voice also rang out in Jiang Xuan’s mind.
[Ding~Successful containment of 173, the statue, with no significant negative impact on human society, was successful! System rewards distributed].
