Chapter 7: Chapter 6: Visitors
Morgan walked out of the huge underground cave again with a serious look on her face.
She did reach the location of the Greater Holy Grail.
The large void where the Greater Grail magic circle was located had a barrier to isolate Servants and spirits, but those tricks were no better than children's magic tricks in Morgan's eyes.
However, after examining the Greater Holy Grail, Morgan not only determined that this magic circle had the function of adjusting the land of Fuyuki to be suitable for the advent of spirits and initiating the Holy Grail War ritual, but also discovered a terrible fact.
"This contaminated thing is of little use even as a wish-granting machine."
Morgan made her judgment.
It was already late outside, and she hadn't expected to waste so much time investigating the location of the Holy Grail.
When she returned to the courtyard of Ryuudou Temple, Tatsuya Suzuki was long gone.
Morgan sensed a little and found that the magical channel between her and her Master was still there, but his aura was no longer in Ryuudou Temple or even on Mount Enzou.
"Where have you been, Master? You actually left your Servant behind and acted alone. After all, the Holy Grail War has not yet begun, so you should not be so reckless." Morgan communicated with Tatsuya's consciousness through the channel of magic.
"I'm sorry... you took too long to investigate nearby. I thought it wouldn't take long. It's time to go home from school. I'm going to take Sakura and Caren home first. Can you return by yourself in spirit form?"
Tatsuya sincerely apologized for leaving Morgan behind.
Hearing this answer, Morgan was no longer angry.
Her Master was a magus who was too human in every sense of the word, almost unqualified in some ways.
After understanding the current situation, Morgan transformed into a spirit and returned to the Suzuki family home in the residential area of Miyama-cho.
She did not choose to arrive at the house in spirit form, but instead pushed open the gate and walked in as if she were returning to her own home.
Unexpectedly, a guest was visiting the Suzuki family.
As she turned the doorway, Morgan saw the guest clearly through the glass.
He was a young man, less than thirty years old, with a gentle and tired smile on his face, and he was talking to Tatsuya and Sakura.
It seemed that the man knew Sakura.
"Everything seems to be fine. I worried for nothing," said the man.
"Although I was dragged into the Holy Grail War, it's not difficult for me to take care of one or two children." Tatsuya stroked Sakura's hair. "Besides, Sakura has excellent qualifications. As a beginner magician now, I'm afraid that Mr. Kariya is not her opponent."
Being praised, Sakura gave a proud yet shy smile.
"Of course." The man named Kariya's smile seemed a little bitter.
At this moment, the meeting was interrupted by the sound of Morgan's footsteps as she walked around the porch and into the living room.
Seeing the beautiful woman who suddenly appeared, Kariya was stunned for a moment and intuitively guessed that Morgan was a member of the Suzuki family.
"Who is this…" Kariya asked out of politeness.
Tatsuya narrowed his eyes and smiled, hiding his inner embarrassment, "…It's my wife."
"Really?" Kariya was surprised. "When did it happen?"
"Just recently." Tatsuya could only give a vague answer.
Fortunately, Kariya did not investigate further, nor did he realize that Morgan was a Servant and not an ordinary human.
He chatted with Tatsuya for a few more minutes, left a gift for Sakura, told her that he would be leaving Japan to collect materials abroad in the near future and could not come to visit, and then left the Suzuki house.
"Have you finally made up your mind?" Morgan looked at Tatsuya with amusement as he came back from seeing the guest off.
She was referring to how he had just lied to Kariya and told him that Morgan was his wife.
"I could tell it was just polite talk. What else could it be?" Tatsuya sighed. "It's because you insisted on coming in. If you were to transform into a spirit, he wouldn't have detected it since he's not a magician."
Morgan smiled faintly, ignoring Tatsuya's complaints. "Who is he?"
"Matou Kariya. Before Sakura was adopted by me, she and her sister were often taken care of at the Tohsaka family." Tatsuya explained. "It seems he had some connection with Tohsaka Aoi when he was young."
"Matou..." Morgan thought of the old magician who manipulated insects in the afternoon.
"Don't worry about it. The Matou family has almost declined by this generation. Mr. Kariya is the only one who is qualified, but he gave up the way of magic and lived a life far away from it. He is just an ordinary person, not to mention he is not even a Master."
Tatsuya explained the situation and went to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
After dinner, it was time for the routine magic lesson, and Sakura had already arrived at the studio to wait and review.
During this period, Morgan roughly told Tatsuya about what happened with the head of the Matou family outside the Great Hole, as well as the situation of the Great Hole, but did not mention the most crucial fact—that the Holy Grail was contaminated.
She still didn't know why Tatsuya was participating in the Holy Grail War at this time. Was he there to serve as a wish-granting machine, or was he trying to reach the root like the Three Great Families who founded the Fuyuki Holy Grail War system?
During the conversation, Morgan tried again, but Tatsuya avoided her questions in the same evasive way as before.
Therefore, Morgan believed that this kind of internal situation, which might become a destabilizing factor, should be put aside for the time being, and she should observe him more during this period.
"If there's nothing else, I'll go to the workshop and teach Sakura—"
Just as Tatsuya was about to end the conversation, the phone rang.
Tatsuya answered the phone, responded briefly, and then hung up.
"This is no ordinary contact," Morgan said.
"Well, the supervisor of the church just told me that a Caster-class Servant has arrived." Tatsuya put on a serious expression.
"It looks like the Holy Grail War will begin tonight." Morgan chuckled.
Tatsuya had already started walking towards the workshop. "Let's wait and see what the other parties do."
During his time in Fuyuki, he had already placed familiars for surveillance in various places in the city, especially near the Tohsaka and Matou families, as well as Einzbern Castle outside the city—the locations of the three great families.
Now he wanted to activate these familiars and see which camps would be the first to face off in the opening battle of the Holy Grail War.
"Dad?"
Seeing Tatsuya walking in a hurry, Sakura realized that there would be no more time for magic teaching today.
"I'm sorry, Sakura. The evening magic class will be suspended for the next period of time. You should go back to your room and rest. Dad has something to deal with." Tatsuya leaned over and reached out to comfort Sakura, who was sitting on the chair.
Sakura nodded in agreement and left the room.
"I forgot to mention before, that child's attribute is imaginary number," Morgan said.
Tatsuya, who was activating various surveillance familiars, simply nodded. "It is indeed very rare. Any questions?"
"You can't teach her about imaginary number magic." Morgan smiled confidently. "After all, the Holy Grail War doesn't stop. If I have time, you can let me teach her."
Tatsuya hesitated for a few seconds, then waved his hand, and the shared vision of the familiars appeared like monitor windows in the workshop where the runes were lit.
"Let me think about it."
He answered Morgan.
