Fate/ I Am Humanity Last Hope!?

Chapter 5: Chapter 5 - Clock Tower

Clock Tower, England.

Department of Evocation.

In an atypical classroom, with rows and rows of seats in a semicircle around the main stage.

Numerous enthusiastic and relatively uninterested students were attentively listening to the only source of sound throughout the room.

The hall itself, as expected of a classroom, had a sloped floor with the front row seats being lower than those at the back, allowing all students to see the speaker clearly.

The speaker himself was a handsome man in his thirties, with bright green eyes and light blonde hair slicked back. He wore a navy blue lab coat, white gloves, boots, and black pants. He walked around, jotting something down on the board behind him with chalk. A relatively old and more traditional form of detailing.

But again, that wasn't the only old and majestic thing about the place.

Dark wooden chairs and tables, a floor covered by a damp red carpet, several chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, and an overall 'Victorian' style to behold. The students did not disappoint either, although varying in age, most of them stood out in their own rights, wearing royal dresses and suits. Of course, there were those who wore modern clothes as well, but they seemed rather isolated.

The teacher in question seemed to be speaking about things that the common man would consider nothing more than fiction and unrealistic claims: "In most cases, a means of evocation…"

One thing, however, stood out like a sore thumb even in this serene environment, in a certain corner of the hallway. In a relatively middle seat, in a completely discreet position, a young man who looked about seventeen was sitting with an apathetic expression on his face, his head propped up on one of his hands while lightly tapping on the table with the other.

But,

The young man himself was anything but discreet. His facial features could not be described with a brush. If being common was a type of beauty, then it culminated vividly in this boy to the extreme. Making him so beautiful that he seemed otherworldly, his white hair flowing in the wind, or the lack of it, his vibrant blue eyes that seemed to represent the blue sky trapped within the most beautiful jewel in the world stared at the teacher with an incomprehensible lack of emotion.

He was tall compared to others of his age, and his slim, muscular body was covered by a tight short-sleeve shirt, loose beige sports pants with a black woven belt at the waist, and black martial arts sandals. He wore a Japanese overcoat over it, resembling a kimono, and a black scarf.

Ryusei looked at the teacher giving the lecture and felt that it had been a waste of time to come to the Clock Tower so far; it had been a week since he arrived and started attending classes in various departments he had interest in, but none had taught anything he didn't already know...

His vast knowledge of Magecraft was to blame. He could employ the vast majority like an expert, and some with total mastery, surpassing anyone of the current era.

In particular, his Magecraft related to space, [Limitlees], had managed to make [Mugen] automatic with the help of [Rikugan], which brought zero percent waste in magical energy; he spent one unit of Od per minute to maintain it active, something that regenerated in just a few seconds, causing a certain tension in his brain, but due to two spells he had learned, he resolved this issue.

His brain was programmed with the Magecraft of [Memory Partition] and [Thought Acceleration], which eliminated all the tension he felt when using [Limitlees], having to spend a large portion of his mental faculties to use it.

[Memory Partition] is the ability to divide one's thoughts to form various independent thought processes. While normal people can only have a single "Room" in their brain and focus on one thought, this spell adds partitions to a room to create several rooms;

It is different from having multiple independent machines in one's head because, although there are various processes, they work towards a single goal. They manage different sets of problems but work together to generate an overall solution. Although the machines may calculate at the same level, nothing else compares when used for problem-solving...

He currently had five partitions.

And all five were boosted by his [Thought Acceleration], which speeds up mental processing fivefold; giving him three thousand parallel thought rooms, his brainpower far surpassed that of a high-performance computer in his past life.

Speaking of [Limitlees], he managed to create another way to use it beyond [Mugen], calling it [Jutsushiki Junten: Ao], which simply amplifies space through a negative factor to produce a vacuum. Through it, creating a scenario in which the world itself is forced to correct itself and fill the negative space, causing all matter in the commanded space to converge. This produces an 'attraction,' effortlessly crushing everything like a black hole. He could also move the gravitational point at will, significantly increasing his destructive capabilities.

Aside from his personal Magecraft, he also created his own summoning Magecraft of [Shikigami] called [Technique of the Ten Shadows]. In it, shadows are used as intermediaries for the manipulation of Shikigamis, instead of simply using talismans as catalysts or some ritual.

He endeavored to subjugate his Shikigamis during the development of this Magecraft, but it was worth it; all were created to be fed with magical energy and possessed enormous potential.

In the meantime, he also began to use other elements. Though he had only recently started, he managed to create a very powerful [Fire Magecraft], called [Arrow of Kagutsuchi].

Clapping his hands, he then separated them as if pulling back the string of a bow, forming an arrow of black flame between them. Upon 'releasing' with the back hand, he could shoot the arrow at the intended target; he could also use it to manipulate the flames for various other effects.

This Magecraft followed the basis of the East.

Traditional Japanese Magecraft is similar to how Magecraft was performed in the Age of Gods. The magicians connect to the power of a God.

In modern times, Japanese magicians connect to fragments of gods called divine bodies, which are fully formed organs of the Gods. Since the Age of Gods lasted longer in the island nations, they were able to retain these fragments of Gods into modern times. Most of these fragments withered, failing to withstand the Mana drought of the Common Era, but there are some rare ones that maintained their properties.

Translation to English:

There are only eight known remaining divine vessels in Japan, and to prevent their mystery from fading, the eight groups that maintain them have different ways of keeping them safe and avoiding the decay of their mystery. He managed to get his hands on one during his stay in Japan - the organization he had destroyed was in possession of a part of Kagutsuchi, the bones of its left arm.

He had obviously transplanted it for himself, having to avoid various obstacles of Japanese Magecraft, which uses magical energy to attract the Authority of its contracted Divine Spirit, having to perform several extravagant rituals to carry out spells. In his case, his current arm was part of the Japanese Fire God, which he could use as a catalyst for various fire spells, possessing part of its authority over the element.

Fortunately, he realized that the mystery of his arm was not weakening and speculated that this was due to his strange Origin.

Aside from his personal Magecraft, he had entirely focused on the [Miracle of Life] - the name of the Magecraft he inherited from the Crest of the Zepter Family.

Besides the part of a God that he acquired by a stroke of luck, he had transplanted some smaller internal organs from a Unicorn that he had managed to get his hands on, gaining a rather interesting ability; he could purify tainted things through his magical energy.

Well, it was no secret that Unicorns are creatures with the power to purify human souls. Having this power was very useful against evil creatures. He also decided to replace his kidneys with those of the Dream Demon two weeks ago, thus gaining the ability to manipulate dreams and even drain someone's magical energy through sexual relations. He had hesitated to take parts from a demon known for lust for so long because he wanted to find something better, but after years, he found nothing. So, he did it...

As they were known for their regeneration as well, he had managed to enhance his natural healing further, to the point where he could regenerate limbs in a matter of hours and fatal injuries in seconds. If he didn't destroy his heart or brain, it was highly likely that he would survive.

One thing he noticed was that the more parts of monsters or creatures he had in his body, the less human he felt. If it weren't for his immense willpower, he would lose control and do something beastly, something he wanted to avoid at all costs.

However, the boy was pulled from his idle reflections by someone who would tap him on the shoulder to catch his attention. His body reacted instinctively, automatically sidestepping while his heart tightened. With [Mugen] always active, he could choose who or what could touch him; he opted to dodge to maintain a low profile and not reveal his Magecraft, while at the same time, he didn't want that hand to touch his shoulder.

He glared at the person who tried to touch him. Short black hair and green eyes, noble and beautiful facial features, he seemed to be a bit older. He looked slightly surprised by his reaction but whispered firmly.

"Ryusei, you really should pay attention. Lord Kayneth will notice."

The name of this boy was Arthur Lockhart; he was a nice boy from a relatively new family and had a huge interest in being his friend—one could say that.

But he didn't trust this judgment; every person is the same. They betray while smiling, trample on good intentions while grinning, and administer poison while laughing loudly; he would never trust anyone...

Avoiding the boy's good intentions, he nodded in a kind of acknowledgment and turned his attention back to the lesson, thinking about his future. He would spend a year in this place; his plans were just to learn what he could. Afterward, he would continue his aimless journey through this world.

Something pushed him to seek constant improvement and grow stronger infinitely; that was what kept him in this world and didn't leave him to get killed by someone on the corner to end his suffering of merely existing in this place...

He blamed his Origin...

The rest of the class passed without any occurrences.

After a few hours, the class came to an end.

All the students hurriedly exited; Ryusei left calmly and discreetly, ignoring the idle stares and flushed cheeks of all the girls and even some boys. It was disgusting. He exited the classroom and walked through the corridors.

His figure faded among the hallways.

It felt oppressively lonely...
