Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Archers' Rear Ambush

Taking advantage of the Blood Moon Werewolf being airborne, Rhett commanded the three sand wolves to attack the Minotaurs.

The sand wolves charged forward as if ready to engage in close combat, but just as they neared the Minotaurs, they self-destructed!

Boom! The "moving bombs" exploded in a wave of earth-yellow energy, sending dust flying everywhere!

The three Minotaurs, unable to dodge in time, let out a final scream before being blasted into pieces.

"Damn it!" Ossagu shook his head, his bloodlust-driven, fevered mind beginning to clear.

He realized he'd been played by the human mage!

Gritting his teeth, Ossagu furiously charged forward again, vowing not to stop until Rhett was dead.

Suddenly.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Dozens of black arrows rained down from above like a meteor shower, whistling through the air as they struck the encircled orcs.

The lower-ranked orcs barely had time to react before they were hit, crying out in pain as their bodies quickly turned black. One after another, they collapsed, with their last breath warning, "The arrows are coated with Black Crow's Scourge, be careful!"

At that moment, atop the hill at the rear of the battlefield, stood over twenty archers, their faces stern as they aimed at the scattered orcs below. Each archer focused on a target, drawing and releasing their bows with precision.

Beside them, Mikhail held a staff, casting a third-rank wind spell, Wind Wall.

A green wall of wind appeared, accompanied by a gust of wind.

The twenty archers, their expressions resolute, released their arrows through the wide wind wall. As the arrows passed through the wind wall, their speed increased dramatically, piercing through the orcs' tough hides with ease.

Combined with the Black Crow's Scourge poison, the low-ranking orcs were wiped out within minutes.

With the archers' ambush from the rear, the tide of battle swiftly turned against the orcs.

The low-ranking orcs were nearly wiped out before they could even panic, leaving only the fourth-rank Blood Moon Werewolf and Wild Boarman standing amidst the carnage.

The two orcs looked around in confusion, taking in the corpses of their comrades. When realization hit, it ignited a fury within them.

"Cunning humans!" Ossagu's red fur seemed to ignite with rage, standing on end as if aflame. "This was all your vile idea!"

"You're right, it was me. Come and get me!" Rhett sneered coldly, though inwardly, he was amused. The strategy wasn't even his idea. He had simply allocated the archers to Snoway, leaving the rest to common sense for any experienced commander.

So technically, the rear ambush was Snoway's plan.

But Rhett didn't mind taking the blame for his comrade. After all, the orcs' fate was sealed...

"Teams Four, Five, Six, and Seven, surround them from the rear," Rhett ordered, extending his left hand to signal the command.

Shhh, shhh, shhh.

The battlefield, which had seemed chaotic moments ago, suddenly became organized as the soldiers quickly responded to Rhett's orders.

Thirty men moved swiftly to fill the gaps in the encirclement, forming a tight O-shaped perimeter.

Meanwhile, the archers began descending from the hill.

Rhett's Falling Rock spell from earlier also came into play—the archers stood atop the boulders, ensuring they wouldn't accidentally hit their allies.

"Snoway, stay near the archers. Don't let the Blood Moon Werewolf get close."

"Understood!"

"Mikhail, cast Wind Wall!

Robin, be ready with healing spells!"

Rhett issued command after command, all while swiftly retreating as the Blood Moon Werewolf charged at him once again.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.

Dozens of arrows shot towards the Blood Moon Werewolf, but with a few quick movements, it easily dodged them.

Falling Rock! Falling Rock!

Rhett cast two more spells, summoning two massive, glowing yellow boulders that hurtled towards the Blood Moon Werewolf.

At the same time, he summoned another Sand Wolf Roar spell, sending the sand wolves to entangle the Blood Moon Werewolf.

Suddenly, the werewolf's body flickered with a blood-red aura, and in the blink of an eye, it vanished.

Then, Rhett heard a voice in his ear:

"Die, human! I've had enough of you!"

Thud!

A powerful force struck Rhett from the front, and the Blood Moon Werewolf's snarling face loomed close.

Rhett's protective stone armor shattered under the impact, crumbling into countless fragments before dissipating into earth elemental light.

One swipe—just one—had broken through Rhett's defensive spell.

As the force sent him tumbling backward, Rhett's cold gaze remained steady. He wasn't surprised by the outcome.

While retreating, Rhett focused his mental energy.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

One earth spike after another shot up to hinder the Blood Moon Werewolf's assault, each spike targeting its waist. But with its nimble reflexes and beastly instincts, the werewolf dodged each one at the last second.

Just then, a loud wail echoed across the battlefield.

The massive figure of the fourth-rank Wild Boarman collapsed to the ground. After being besieged by over a hundred men, its body was covered in shallow wounds and several deep gashes inflicted by Snoway. Blood gushed from its injuries, and several arrows coated with Black Crow's Scourge were embedded in its wounds.

The Wild Boarman fell, and Ryler finished it off with a Water Spear spell, piercing its eye and destroying its brain.

[Family member defeated an enemy two ranks higher. Fate Points +2.]

Rhett saw the notification and felt a sense of relief.

Snoway, panting slightly, glanced in Rhett's direction and shouted, "Everyone, focus on the Blood Moon Werewolf! Don't let it escape!"

"Delicious human mage, let me taste your blood!" a savage, greedy voice growled. In the next moment, a blood-red blur rushed at Rhett once more.

A massive claw sliced through the air, ready to strike again.

Earth Spike!

At the last second, the Blood Moon Werewolf flinched and quickly retreated, twisting its waist to avoid the lethal spell.

As it looked at Rhett again, a trace of fear flickered in its eyes. It couldn't help but acknowledge the human mage's strength, which was impressive even after consuming a bloodline potion.

Meanwhile, Rhett silently thanked his luck. Holding out this long against a royal bloodline werewolf was no small feat. If this were a one-on-one fight, his chances of victory would be slim.

At that moment, Snoway finally arrived, wielding his longsword. Despite facing a much larger Blood Moon Werewolf, he showed no fear. His entire body radiated intense combat energy as he channeled his power into his sword, aiming a powerful strike at the werewolf's waist.

"Hmph!"

Ossagu's body radiated a faint blood aura, and his blurry figure flickered on his skin. In his bloodlust, he didn't hesitate to swing his massive claw, meeting Snoway's sword head-on.

Clang!

A sharp metallic sound echoed as the claw and sword clashed, sending a shockwave through Snoway's arm. The impact nearly knocked his sword off course, and he almost lost his balance.

Falling Rock! Falling Rock!

Taking advantage of Snoway's brief engagement with the Blood Moon Werewolf, Rhett continued to cast Falling Rock spells, retreating with the help of wind magic.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The night echoed with the sound of crashing boulders, preventing the Blood Moon Werewolf from fully unleashing its power.

"Wind Wall!" Mikhail shouted.

The nearby archers understood the signal, shooting dozens of arrows through the green wind wall, aiming for the Blood Moon Werewolf.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.

Annoyed by the constant barrage of arrows, the Blood Moon Werewolf dodged them as best it could, glaring angrily at the approaching human soldiers and archers.

It grinned viciously, its bloodlust driving it to feed on more human blood.

Rhett suddenly jumped forward, pointing his staff at the Blood Moon Werewolf, and whispered, "Quicksand!"

This time, the quicksand spell targeted the werewolf's path of advance. Rhett knew that in its bloodlust, the werewolf would only become more reckless.

Sure enough, as the yellow quicksand beneath the werewolf's feet began to drag it down, Ossagu realized too late, roaring in frustration as he struggled to break free.

At that moment, countless arrows and a flurry of colorful spells rained down on the Blood Moon Werewolf.

Earth Spike, Falling Rock, Fireball, Wind Blade, Water Spear...

The brilliant display of magic briefly lit up the night, each spell exploding upon impact with the werewolf.

Cough, cough.

The Blood Moon Werewolf trembled as it clung to the deadliest spike, preventing it from piercing its body, but it was powerless against the other spells bombarding it.

Meanwhile, a massive boulder was about to crush it from above!

At the critical moment, Ossagu's blood surged wildly, granting him extraordinary strength, and he finally broke free from the quicksand spell's grip.

He leaped high into the air with incredible speed, aiming for the archers standing on the boulder.

But just as he was about to descend upon them—

"Ah!!"

A scream erupted from the Blood Moon Werewolf's mouth.

The archers, faced with the werewolf's approach, had resolved to fight to the death. They had already lowered their bows, drawing their swords in preparation for a final stand.

However, just then, a three-meter-long earth spike suddenly extended from the boulder they were standing on, piercing the Blood Moon Werewolf's waist at a slight angle.

Blood gushed out in streams.

"Owoooo~"

The Blood Moon Werewolf let out a howl of pain, but his expression grew even more frenzied. With a powerful swipe of his claw, he snapped the earth spike and immediately charged at the ten archers standing on the boulder, slaughtering them as if they were mere chickens. He even began to feast on their flesh, healing his wounds through blood consumption.

"You will die!" Snoway shouted as he rushed over, his eyes blazing red with fury. He leaped high into the air, his longsword burning with brilliant light, like the dawn breaking through the darkness, illuminating the surroundings as he slashed down heavily!

But the Blood Moon Werewolf merely extended his blood-red claw, blocking Snoway's enraged strike.

Although his body staggered slightly, he suddenly noticed a subtle earth elemental fluctuation on the boulder to his left and sneered coldly.

"Still trying that trick? It won't work this time!" The Blood Moon Werewolf assumed that Rhett was attempting to use the earth spike technique again—this time through the boulder.

However, as he glanced at Rhett and saw the mocking smile on his face, a bad feeling suddenly surged in his heart.

In the next moment, the earth elemental fluctuation on the boulder vanished, but from beneath his feet, a swirling vortex began to pull him down once again.

It was as if a yellow pool of quicksand, like a hellish abyss, was dragging Ossagu down with tremendous force.

"You despicable human!" Ossagu roared in fury, struggling with all his might, but the pain in his waist made him feel weak.

"No more chances for you. Go join your comrades in the underworld," Snoway declared as he picked up a fallen archer's bow, infused it with intense light-attribute combat energy, drew the bowstring, and released the arrow!

Seeing this, Mikhail quickly cast another Wind Wall spell.

Whoosh!

The arrow, infused with powerful light-attribute combat energy, was aimed at Ossagu's waist as it flew through the air.

Fireball, Wind Blade, Water Spear...

Everyone seized the opportunity to attack. No one would miss a chance to strike a fallen enemy.

The surrounding soldiers, armed with swords and shields, wanted to rush in to help, but at Rhett's signal, they stayed back, blocking the perimeter—to prevent the Blood Moon Werewolf from capturing anyone and healing through blood consumption.

Seeing no opportunity to grab a human soldier, Ossagu focused entirely on the incoming arrow, determined to block it with his hands!

But then—

Whoosh! An earth spike shot out from the side of the boulder, piercing directly through his waist.

This time, it was real!

Ossagu's eyes widened, his body suddenly going limp. Although not dead yet, the brief moment of hesitation allowed the light-infused arrow to break through his defenses and strike his waist.

Two consecutive critical hits, both to his waist, were like adding insult to injury. Moreover, the arrow was coated with Black Crow's Scourge poison, which, while not instantly lethal to a fourth-rank being, still caused significant trouble.

Feeling his blood flow slow down, Ossagu despairingly gazed up at the round moon. His thoughts gradually became sluggish, and his breathing grew labored.

In his final moments, he sensed a first-rank knight rushing toward him—an insult that filled him with rage. He prepared to take one more life before dying.

But just as he was about to turn, an earth spike pierced his right hand, and an arrow followed, embedding itself in his left hand, leaving him powerless to fight back.
