Falling for the Omega Idol

Chapter 13: WORRIES HERE AND THERE

— THIS is something I heard from a staff of this survival program. But apparently, this program would be very different from Vnet's past survival programs. CLUE: THE SEA.

└ OP, stop saying you heard it from a staff. Just say you're that staff and the production team told you to post this to get our attention.

└ Hahahaha upstairs *thumbs-up*

└ But it got your attention, so it must be effective.

└ What does 'the sea' mean? Would it be the theme of the program?

└ A theme involving the sea... would it be mermaid princes???

└ LOL mermaid princes? That's cringey as hell.

└ Are they going to hold the program in the middle of the sea?

└ Upstairs, how could that be possible? Unless Vnet is willing to create a stage in the middle of the sea.

Well, that was not exactly the case. Haneul thought as he read the response below the original comment. But the 'sea' being the clue was indeed correct.

With a name like Boys Odyssey, there were only two words that would immediately come to one's mind - ship and sea. And, in a way, the theme of the whole program really revolved around those two words.

You see, the contestants would spend three months on a ship, sailing around the Korean peninsula. Of course, there would be stop-overs during that period. Not only for the live shows, but also for the elimination rounds. But the fact that it would be held on a ship garnered a lot of attention from the public.

That part was actually one of Haneul's worries. He's not sure if his parents would agree. If he passed this upcoming audition, he would be one of the show's official contestants. Then that meant that he would spend three months on the sea. Of course, only if he's not eliminated early, and he managed to survive until the finals.

There was also the fact that he just manifested as an Omega. His parents would definitely think that the environment there would not be good for him. Then there was his school.

Because of his personality, instead of applying to an art high school, he just went with the high school closest to their home. Which just happened to be where his mother was teaching. The problem here was, the high school he's going to now was known for its academic excellence and rigorous curriculum.

It had only been a month since the first semester started. Not to mention, he was a third-year student who would be taking CSAT in November. If he applied for a three-month break because he's participating in an idol survival program, it would not only be his homeroom teacher who would dissuade him from doing that, his mother would definitely do the same.

Haneul let out a long sigh.

'Let's just think first about what to do with the audition, and then decide later what to do with school and stuff.'

Since he decided to go through the public audition, he had been thinking about how he should go about it. Dancing and singing at the same time were out of the question. If he did that, he would definitely not pass.

He had never learned how to dance. Because of his personality, the thought of being an idol was just like a childhood dream for him. He never really considered that he could become one. So, when the situation in their house became much better, his mother asked him which after school academy he wanted to go to.

After-school academies were places where kids went to enhance their knowledge or pursue their hobbies. These academies offered various classes, such as academic tutoring, language learning, arts, music, sports, and more, catering to students' educational and personal development needs.

When he was asked which academy he would want to go to, he couldn't say that he wanted to sing or dance. He was too shy and timid back then. If his parents asked why he would want to learn those things, just imagining himself saying that it's because he wanted to be an idol was too much for his small courage.

So, he just chose the next best thing. Something that was still related to music. And that was to learn how to play the guitar.

He picked an academy that offered one on one lessons. Because he knew he wouldn't do well if the lesson was given in groups. And in that academy he not only learned how to play the guitar but also to sing. Although the latter one was purely accidental.
