Fairy Tail: Starting with Marrying the Dragon Queen Irene

Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Irene's Flower Sea Temptation! A 24-Hour Endurance Contest? Just a Little Playfulness Between Irene and Ian~

"There's no other way!"

"If Irene plans to enter the competition..."

"Laxus, you'll have to be the one to stop her."

"After all, only a Dragon Slayer can match a Dragon Slayer..."

"That's common knowledge in the magic world."

"Once it's done, I'll share half of the guild's prize money with you..."

"Laxus, don't let me down. I've always believed in you."

'Back when you were a kid, I treated you well, didn't I?'

Gildarts cast a glance at Irene, his expression showing a hint of lingering fear.

To put it bluntly, Gildarts' confidence had been completely shattered by Irene.

Thus, without an ounce of shame, Gildarts looked over at Laxus, who stood not too far away, and said all of this.

"Huh?"

"You want me to stop Irene?!"

"Are you serious?!"

Laxus, suddenly named by Gildarts, was dumbfounded. It was true that Gildarts had always treated him well, but taking on Irene? Wasn't that basically asking for death?!

Even though Laxus had reached the level of a Saint Wizard... the gap between him and Irene was far too vast!

Simply put, he was just a second-generation Dragon Slayer who hadn't even fully mastered the power of a dragon. How could he hope to fight Irene, the mother of Dragon Slayer magic?!

If we were to rank mages by levels, as in a game:

Level 1 would be equivalent to an E-rank mages.

And so on:

Level 2 is D-rank.

Level 3 is C-rank.

Level 4 is B-rank.

Level 5 is A-rank.

Level 6 is S-rank.

Laxus, right now, was roughly at Level 7.

During the Grand Magic Games, Jura, who represented the pinnacle of human strength, was Level 8, while the Four Gods(Heavenly King) of Ishgar were Level 9, and the Twelve Shields of the Alvarez Empire were Level 10 and above.

Irene, however, was Level 91.

And Acnologia? Level 100.

Yes, this was a system of a hundred levels.

Sending a newbie mage into battle against someone with over 400 years of experience, what chance did he have to win?!

Who on earth gave him the courage to challenge Irene? Was it 'Fish Leong' who gave him courage?(Malaysian singer mostly known for her 'Courage' song)

"Irene..."

"Um, how should I put this..."

"According to past regulations..."

"The Fairy Tail guild's 24-hour endurance contest is a mandatory event for everyone in the guild."

"But since we need to leave Magnolia..."

"I've already reported to Master Makarov that you and Selene are exempt from participating, just to avoid drawing Acnologia's attention."

At this point, Ian, who was still Irene's "beloved husband," stepped forward. He looked at Irene with a hint of apology in his eyes, explaining his reasons.

Of course, it wasn't because they were all afraid of Irene.

After all, if the 24-hour endurance fight broke out, facing Irene would just mean getting beaten up.

They were just genuinely concerned for Irene's wellbeing.

Which is why they didn't want her to participate in the guild's group activity.

"It's fine."

"I'll win the contest before Acnologia even notices."

But Ian's words didn't deter Irene. Instead, it only piqued her competitive spirit.

With a smile in her voice, Irene softly added, "And I have some good news for you, Ian! Starting today, for a long while, you won't have to worry about Selene."

"Because Selene, having stayed in Earth Land for so long, now faces a rebellion in her original realm, Elentear. The natives have somehow learned Dragon Slayer magic and defeated several of her officers. They've reached the foot of Blackmoon Mountain!"

"So, a few days ago, Selene had no choice but to return temporarily to her stronghold in Elentear. She won't be able to come back to Earth Land anytime soon; she has to stay there to restore order."

Irene said all this with an unmistakable glint of smugness in her eyes.

"Uh..."

"If I may ask..."

"Does the rebellion of Elentear's natives have anything to do with you, Irene?!"

Ian paused for a moment, seemingly realizing something monumental.

After all, where could the natives of Elentear have possibly learned Dragon Slayer magic from?! Looking across Earth Land, Elentear, and Edolas, there was only one person capable of crossing worlds to teach Dragon Slayer magic—and that was Irene herself!

"Hahaha..."

"How could that be?! Selene is my dear sister~"

"Maybe there's something unique about Elentear that allowed Dragon Slayer magic to sprout like flowers in the desert?!"

"You know, Ian, the world is full of mysteries!"

Irene chuckled softly, her laughter containing just a hint of personal grudge.

"So it really was you!"

Ian's eyelids twitched slightly, as he muttered.

At that moment, Ian could almost see the near future...

When Selene finally suppresses the rebellion in Elentear and stabilizes her forces, returning to Earth Land would mean another inevitable confrontation between Selene and Irene.

Indeed, Selene and Irene were always just "frenemies." It was just another day praying silently for the residents of Magnolia and the people of Fiore.

"Ahem..."

"Anyway, the competition begins now!"

On the other side, Makarov hesitated for a moment before pulling the trigger. With a loud bang, Fairy Tail's X779 24-hour endurance competition officially began!

"Ian, didn't you say earlier that you were worried about me leaving Magnolia and attracting Acnologia?"

Irene looked at Ian, her crimson lips curled into a smile.

"Yes, yes I did..."

Ian, feeling Irene's intense gaze, broke out in a cold sweat. He couldn't help but feel that something monumental was about to happen...

"Don't worry about me, Ian!"

"My life will be just fine."

"After all, I don't need to leave Magnolia!"

Irene's gaze held a hint of amusement.

"Not leaving Magnolia?!"

The Fairy Tail mages present were stunned, not understanding what Irene meant by not leaving Magnolia.

After all, the endurance contest required them to leave town and reach the foot of a mountain a hundred kilometers away.

"Could it be that Mother plans to use... that spell?!"

At that moment, Erza seemed to realize something, her pupils trembling.

"Irene, don't tell me you're going to use..."

Ian also guessed what magic Irene was planning, and he began to sweat profusely.

"Looks like both of you have figured it out! If that's the case, let's move quickly~"

Irene said as she grasped her staff, striking it into the ground with force.

"Boom!"

A tremendous explosion followed.

The magic power within Irene surged out, instantly enveloping the entire town of Magnolia.

No! That magic continued to spread...

Until it covered the entire surface of the Kingdom of Fiore.

To put it in perspective, the diameter of the Kingdom of Fiore exceeded two thousand kilometers. The kingdom's territory was roughly circular and its area approached that of Australia. To cover an entire kingdom's landmass in one spell wasn't a simple feat.

"What immense magic power is this?!"

Mavis, Fairy Tail's first master, stared in shock, her eyes wide.

Even though she had witnessed the power of Zeref, one of the continent's most powerful beings, the force Irene displayed was beyond even his.

Mavis realized she had underestimated Irene—and the might of the Dragons.

Zeref: "Although, I'm just a scholar with a bit of knowledge about magic. I'm really not that good at fighting."

As everyone was lost in shock, there was a sudden boom...

The entire town of Magnolia vanished from where it once stood.

In the blink of an eye, the townspeople found themselves in the middle of a snow-covered mountain range.

"Wait, where are we?!"

When the townspeople, who were preparing to set sail, snapped out of their stupor, they realized the docks had disappeared. Even the sea was nowhere to be seen—all that surrounded them was a snowy wasteland.

Wasn't this place supposed to be on the western edge of Fiore? How did they end up near the eastern side?!

"The sea?! Where's my ocean?!"

The townspeople were dumbstruck. They had known that Fairy Tail was about to hold their annual endurance contest, and they'd intended to sail away for a few days to avoid the inevitable chaos, planning to return once it was all over.

But before they could even leave, not only had their ships vanished, the entire ocean was gone! How could this be the work of a mage?!

This was more like the work of a god!

Could a mere mage possess such power?

"Ah..."

As for the Fairy Tail mage themselves, they were just as shocked. One moment, their eyes were closed, and when they opened them again, the lush green mountains had turned into a world of snow.

The most shocking part was the countless glittering, sunlit scales that lay at the base of the snow-capped mountains—the scales of a wyvern.

"Have we really been moved 150 kilometers away?!"

Makarov, regaining his senses, widened his eyes in astonishment. His jaw dropped as if he could swallow half a watermelon in one bite, his entire spirit on the verge of collapse...

Honestly, he'd heard of mages capable of teleporting 150 kilometers at once, but moving an entire town—complete with docks—over a hundred kilometers was a first for him.

Was this even a mage's power?

This was more like the power of a deity!

Even Fairy Tail's mages found themselves speechless in the face of Irene's overwhelming personal strength.

"Hey! Let's not worry about the rest for now..."

"The wyvern scales are right ahead!"

"Doesn't that mean we just have to grab them and get back to Master Makarov to win?!"

As the mages snapped out of their stupor, one of them noticed the key point and hesitantly voiced it.

"..."

"Then what are we waiting for?!"

"It's time for war!"

After a moment of silence, the mages rolled up their sleeves, ready to fight.

"Ice Floor!"

Gray was the first to attack. He posed for his Ice-Make Magic and swiftly covered the ground beneath everyone's feet in a layer of frost.

"Been waiting for you!"

But the Fairy Tail mages had prepared for this. They all wore ice skates and moved effortlessly across the icy surface.

"Damn it..."

Gray couldn't help but curse.

"Gray, I understand you're angry, but why are you taking off your clothes again?!"

Cana watched Gray undressing as usual, speaking in bewilderment.

"Roar of the Ice Dragon!!"

Ur showed no hesitation and launched an attack on Gildarts.

"Crush!"

Facing Ur's sudden roar, Gildarts immediately unleashed his Crush magic. Despite his efforts, his stubble still ended up with frost, and his cloak stiffened from the cold.

"Ur, you've gotten stronger."

Gildarts frowned, his eyes radiating a killing intent.

"Thunder Dragon Fang Spear!"

As Gildarts prepared to counter Ur, Laxus raised his hand, creating a golden magic circle in the sky. He drew forth a glowing spear entirely composed of lightning, the Thunder Dragon Fang Spear, and hurled it at Gildarts like a javelin.

"Boom!!"

The terrifying spear sizzled through the air, sparking as it clashed.

"Oh?!"

"So that's why Ur dares challenge me—you've found some help?!"

Gildarts, faced with the lightning spear, merely waved his hand skyward, shattering both the atmosphere and Laxus' spear into countless arcs of lightning, which then dissipated into the muddy ground.

"Ur did find help..."

"But, Gildarts, did you expect us all to team up against you?!"

Erza, holding her sword, approached Gildarts.

Alongside Erza stood Eresh.

"Take Over Magic: Deliora's Soul!"

With Erza and Eresh by her side, Mirajane fully embraced Deliora's soul. While she couldn't wield Deliora's full power, she could temporarily match a Saint Wizard's might—enough to divert some of Gildarts' attention.

"Sorry, Gildarts~"

"To win, we have to take you down."

Ultear swayed her hips as she too joined the battle against Gildarts... Her mature physique was enticing in her form-fitting suit, leaving little to the imagination.

Yet neither the Fairy Tail mages nor the townspeople dared to mess with the "Ice Rose," not just because Ultear was Ur's daughter.

Roses are beautiful, but full of thorns.

"What a hassle..."

Gildarts gave a wry smile. Who would have thought Ur would ally with Erza, Laxus, Eresh, Mirajane, and Ultear—the S-rank mages and S-rank candidates of the guild—just to challenge him?

Of course, Gildarts wasn't too worried about Laxus, Mirajane, or Erza, the youngsters still finding their strength. His real challenge was Eresh—a genuine dragon.

Yes, Gildarts doubted he could defeat Eresh.

Elsewhere...

Ian stood alone against Irene.

"So, Ian~"

"Tell me, what's more important: winning this endurance race or me?"

Irene lay in the sea of flowers, her pale feet bare, gazing up at Ian, her eyes filled with a mix of allure and mischief.

"Heh..."

"I guess today's contest ends here."

Ian chuckled dryly. Testing his loyalty like this?

Who could possibly resist such temptation?

This was making him abandon his beliefs!

So Ian decided, lifting Irene from among the flowers and carrying her back toward Magnolia.

Yes, what 24-hour endurance race?

It was nothing more than a playful moment between Ian and Irene as husband and wife.

Elsewhere...

"Spirit Peak Harnessing the Forge of the Underworld!"

Eresh placed her hands on the ground, unleashing her ultimate technique.

"Boom!"

The earth began to quake!

A terrifying shockwave surged from the crust, striking towards Gildarts.

The force of the attack was over ten times greater than Jura's ultimate spell, the overpowered magic "Rumbling Mt. Fuji" which required significant preparation to unleash.

"Crush!"

Gildarts' eyes glowed as he unleashed an incredible amount of magic, a power that reached for the sky, causing his form to blur as his magic surged.

Then, he struck the earth with his Crush magic, nullifying the shockwave's force entirely.

However, the collision between Gildarts and Eresh's magic triggered an avalanche on a nearby mountain, causing a massive surge of white snow...

That snow surged towards the Fairy Tail mages and the town of Magnolia behind them.

"No way, please no!"

Makarov, witnessing the scene, yelled in terror.
