Chapter 38: Ch 38 : Lucy's Home
"....Is this your home, Lucy?" Noel looked at the place in front of him, which was almost the size of a small town, and asked hesitantly.
"Yes, it is." Lucy nodded without hesitation. "What's wrong, Noel?"
Noel scratched his cheek, his tone carrying a hint of surprise. "Although I've heard about it before, looking at how you usually are, I just can't imagine you as a rich young lady."
"Eh?" Lucy asked curiously, "Then, what kind of image do I have in your eyes, Noel?"
Noel touched his chin and smiled. "Hmm, how should I put it? You give off the feeling of a girl-next-door type, rather than a high-and-mighty wealthy lady."
"A girl-next-door, huh..." Lucy tapped her chin with her finger. "That makes sense. Compared to me, your demeanor and speech actually feel more like someone from an ancient noble family."
Hearing Lucy's words, Noel's steps paused slightly.
"What's wrong, Noel?" Lucy noticed his reaction and asked.
"It's nothing," Noel shook his head and didn't say more, then resumed walking.
As they chatted casually, Noel and Lucy soon arrived at the center of the courtyard, standing before a beautifully designed mansion.
"Mrs. Spetto." As Lucy reached the front of the mansion, she called out to a short, middle-aged woman with purple hair, dressed in a maid's uniform, who was sweeping the path.
Hearing Lucy's voice, the maid looked up, her body trembling slightly, and even tears welled up in the corners of her eyes. "Miss Lucy!"
With Mrs. Spetto's shout, many people quickly gathered around Lucy.
"It's such a relief that you're safe, I... I..." Mrs. Spetto hugged Lucy, sobbing as she spoke.
"I'm sorry for making you worry," Lucy replied with an apologetic smile.
"Miss, here is a new book from the East..."
"A young lady at your age, it's only natural to elope once or twice, right?"
"I... I never thought I'd have the chance to see you again..."
Noel smiled as he watched Lucy being surrounded in the center.
With his experience, he could easily tell that these people were genuinely happy about Lucy's return.
Their care and affection came from the heart, without any pretense or performance.
Because of this, Noel also felt happy for Lucy in his heart.
"Miss, is this young master your fiancé? He's truly a handsome gentleman!" A maid suddenly noticed Noel standing to the side.
As if she had discovered a whole new continent, she called out in surprise.
"What?!" The crowd finally noticed Noel's presence.
Under his bewildered gaze, they immediately abandoned Lucy and instead surrounded him.
"Ahhh, young master is so handsome! Miss has great taste!"
"Young master, what's your name? Where are you from?"
Surrounded by the enthusiastic crowd, Noel watched as one person after another, their eyes burning with gossip, bombarded him with a barrage of rapid-fire questions.
A drop of cold sweat unconsciously trickled down his forehead.
He shifted his gaze toward Lucy, hoping for some help, but it was clear that Lucy was also stunned by the situation.
She seemed frozen in place, unable to react.
It looked like he couldn't rely on her to get him out of this mess anytime soon.
Just as Noel found himself in a dilemma, a voice came to his rescue.
"Miss, Master asked me to inform you that he is waiting for you in the study," a maid who had just come out of the house suddenly said to Lucy.
Lucy and the others snapped back to their senses upon hearing this, and they no longer pressed Noel with questions.
Noel sighed in relief, taking the chance to slip away before anyone could react.
After all, overly enthusiastic situations like this were what he was least good at handling.
-------------
"Speaking of which... I think I'm lost."
After wandering around the mansion for ten minutes, Noel finally accepted the fact that he was completely lost in this massive house.
Since it was his first time here and he had no guide, getting lost was perfectly normal, right? Noel consoled himself, conveniently ignoring the fact that he could have easily asked any of the maids or the butler for directions to escape this situation.
Of course, his recent encounter with the overly enthusiastic crowd had subconsciously made him forget this option.
As he strolled aimlessly through the mansion, Noel decided on what seemed to him the simplest and most direct method—opening every door he passed.
That way, he should eventually find Lucy and her father.
However... Noel had clearly forgotten that, in some situations, certain doors were not meant to be opened carelessly.
Otherwise, one might find themselves in an extremely awkward predicament—just like the one before him now.
Smooth, ivory-white skin like fine jade.
Golden shoulder-length hair cascading freely.
Long, slender legs exposed to the air.
A dazzling whiteness on her chest that made it difficult to look away.
In her hands, a red evening gown, seemingly just about to be put on.
And on her delicate face—an expression of absolute shock and disbelief.
Time seemed to freeze at that moment.
Noel's lips twitched as he stared at Lucy, who was completely unclothed and in the middle of changing.
Meeting her stunned gaze, Noel wisely made the best decision possible—he shut the door at high speed in the very next second.
"Apologies. That was rude of me."
His awkward and flustered voice carried through the closed door, snapping Lucy out of her daze.
He saw me! He saw everything!
Covering her face, which was now burning red as if it could drip blood, Lucy's mind instantly descended into utter chaos.
------------------
Noel rubbed his temples helplessly as he continued wandering aimlessly.
The scene from earlier had indeed left a significant impact on his mind.
After all, anyone who witnessed such a sight unprepared would be completely stunned.
(But now that I think about it, Lucy's size seems to be… bigger than Erza's and Mira's… Wait, what am I even thinking?)
Slapping his cheeks lightly, Noel tried to shake off the chaotic thoughts in his head.
Unknowingly, he had arrived in front of a room on the second floor.
Still lost in his thoughts, he absentmindedly opened the door once again.
The first thing that entered his sight was a middle-aged man with a stern face, sitting behind a large desk.
"Uh… hello."
Feeling slightly awkward, Noel greeted the man.
After all, he had barged in without even knocking, which was undeniably rude.
"Sit down."
The middle-aged man, however, didn't seem to care about Noel's lack of manners.
Instead, he simply spoke in a cold, indifferent tone.
