Chapter 26: Boy, Dare You Think That Old Man Is Reckless?
"The girl was around 17 years old; she was beautiful; her eyes were clear and pure; she seemed to be a cultivator; and she had a white cat." The old man said them one by one.
The more the old man said, the more he was shocked. He opened his eyes in disbelief.
It can't be that woman, right??
"Grandpa, is this her?" He hurriedly picked up a piece of charcoal, then drew the girl's appearance on the floor.
If anyone were here, they would be shocked by his exquisite painting.
"Yes! This is her! Han'er, do you know her?" The old man asked excitedly. He wanted to meet the good girl again.
"Grandpa. She is Huang Ying Yue." The man replied complicatedly after a long silence.
Hearing this name, the old man was stunned and stopped talking.
The man looked at the old man and said nothing. He knew how complicated his grandpa was now.
Who doesn't know Huang Ying Yue, who always bullies people everywhere she goes? She hates poor people the most. In the past, she always looked down on them.
"Han'er, she is a good girl." Finally, the old man smiles. He chose to trust his instincts and feelings.
When she held his dirty hand without avoiding it, he felt that her soul was extremely pure and kind. This feeling was real to him. She didn't pretend or fake.
The man looked at his grandpa's gentle smile and pursed his lips as if he were trying to restrain his emotion.
Has she really changed? If he was suspicious that she was pretending to be kind and generous that day, now he could be sure that was the real her.
This man was the dirty servant that Huang Yung Yue helped that day near the lotus lake.
He could think that she was acting to get people's attention that day. But how could he explain now?
Judging from his grandpa's words, she secretly gave him the bag full of coins without letting anyone on the street see it.
Firstly, it is to protect the thief or people with the bad intention of robbing the old man when she is gone.
Second, she didn't want anyone to know that she was kind and had done a good deed to help someone. This kind of person can only be said to be sincere.
Most people wanted everyone to praise and respect them for doing a good job helping the poor. Most people want to let the world know that they have done good deeds and want credit.
Not many people could do the good things behind the scenes, and they didn't want everyone's recognition.
Third, she cares about the old man. She wants him to live freely and enjoy his remaining life. But she also respected his hard work and his freedom.
That's why she bought all the candies he had made, then gave him money. She didn't look down on him but gave credit to his hard-working job.
It was his choice if he wanted to continue to sell the candy or live another life. She offered him the choice and respected his choice.
She didn't do the good deed to be famous or get anyone's attention, but she was doing this purely from her heart.
Zi Han was in deep thought. He couldn't describe how he felt now. Huang Bai Xing, his goddess, changed six months ago.
Now, the arrogant woman, Huang Ying Yue, has changed too. He still couldn't accept it for a while. What made her change?
"Boy! What are you doing? Don't think too much. You must trust the old man's instinct!" The old man slapped Zi Han's shoulder, seeing that the man was in a daze.
"And what's wrong with you? Why do you make yourself so dirty? Don't you feel ashamed to tell everybody that I am your grandpa?" The old man pinched the man's dirty-gray face, and he frowned in disgust.
But one could hear his spoiling tone; though he said that Zi Han was disgusting, his eyes didn't show any other sign aside from love.
Zi Han "...…."
Looking at his grandpa's stinky and disgusting face, he twitched his lips.
"Also, what are you doing here?" The old man raised his eyebrows.
"Grandpa, I bought the soup you like. Today, I'm free. Tomorrow, the sects will come to recruit people in the outer domain. So, the young masters and young miss are busy preparing themselves." Zi Han held the old man's wrinkled hand, then walked him to find a rock to sit down on.
The people come and go; some glance at two people in despise, while others avoid them like they are some kind of disease.
Zi Han and the old man didn't care. They were used to it.
"You boy, I thought you were busy cultivating your feelings with your goddess; how come you remember this old man? Did you confess to her?" The old man was dissatisfied with his only grandchild.
"Grandpa, she is like a fairy in the sky, while I am just mud on the land. How dare I confess to her?" Zi Han was depressed. Thinking about the cold and beautiful face of Huang Bai Xing, he subconsciously frowned.
"Yes, you're like mud. Get away from the old man!" The old man pretended to pinch his nose and wave his hand to chase Zi Han away.
Zi Han twitched his lips again. "..."
Not only didn't his grandpa comfort him, he even despised him.
"Who will love you if you look like this?" The old man frowned.
"I just want the person I love to love me the way I am, sincerely. Not because of my appearance or status." Zi Han shook his head as he turned his face to look at the clear sky.
The messy hair, like a bird nest, covered most of his face.
"You look like this; even the old man won't love you." The old man twitched his lips.
Looking at his old man's disliking look, Zi Han was speechless.
"Grandpa, just kidding. When I first met your grandma, I looked more embarrassed than you. Yet, your grandma didn't care about my lowly background and ugly appearance. She left her family to come here with an old man." The old man's eyes flashed with tenderness, thinking about his beloved wife.
Zi Han looked at his grandpa's sad face; he didn't know how to comfort him. He also missed his grandmother.
"Young man, this old man tells you!" The old man's stern voice sounded. This was the first time he called his beloved grandchild 'Young Man'.
"If you can't find any woman like your grandmother, don't ever come to an old man!" The old man said it seriously.
The old man wanted his grandchild to find a woman who loves him and will always accompany him; they should never abandon each other, no matter what happens.
He hopes that, if one day he is gone, there will be someone to treat Han'er the way he treated him with love. He didn't want Han'er to be buried in the painful past, and he lost himself in revenge.
"Han'er, stop thinking about revenge. Grandpa and grandmother only wished that you lived somewhere quietly and found your happiness." The old man's eyes flashed with a deep look as he looked into Zi Han's eyes.
"Even your father and mother didn't wish to see you bury yourself in hatred." He said it slowly.
Zi Han was stunned. Has Grandpa always known his real intentions?
The old man buried his face. If not because he was afraid that Han'er would be in danger, he would go to those people for revenge, then go to the underworld to accompany his beloved wife and son.
The old man's eyes flashed with cold light, thinking about his beloved woman and his beloved son's bloody scene before they were gone.
When Han'er finds his happiness, he'll go to those people. Blood must be paid for by blood. Even though going there was like seeking death, he couldn't get himself out of his nightmare.
"Grandpa, please wait until I get stronger. We'll go to that place together." Zi Han seemed to sense his old man's bloodthirsty breath; he was panicked.
"You boy! Do you think the old man is stupid, like the book you read in that store? Who would be so free and stupid as to seek death?" The old man rubbed his sore head and was speechless. Who said that he'd go there now?
At least, unless he was stronger than this. He promised his beloved wife and son that he'd live well and protect Han'er.
How come he leaves Han'er alone? The old man stared at Zi Han viciously. This boy! Dare you think that he was stupid?
Zi Han "...…"
He worried too much! He was clever; how come his old man was reckless?
"Pah!" The old man slapped Zi Han's shoulder.
"I know what you're thinking! Are you thinking that the old man was reckless? Boy, come tell Grandpa honestly. Grandpa promised that I wouldn't be angry." The old man smiled gently, but Zi Han's back was cold.
Zi Han "...…"
"Again! I don't care who you love. But if that woman dares to hurt Han'er, Grandpa won't sit idle. Your grandmother will come out of the underworld to beat this old man to death if she knows that I didn't take care of you properly." The old man touched his chin and pondered.
Zi Han felt warm.
"But who do you love?" The old man was full of gossip.
"...…" Zi Han decided to shut up. He wasn't sure about his future; he'd die at any time, and he couldn't let go of his hatred. He can't confess to his goddess, Huang Bai Xing, now.
