Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Entering the Capital
The capital was a sprawling metropolis, a stark contrast to the quiet towns Aryan, Rahul, and Priya had grown accustomed to. The streets buzzed with life—vendors calling out their wares, children running and laughing, and Awakened warriors walking with a sense of purpose. The towering buildings, with intricate carvings and banners fluttering in the wind, symbolized the city's strength and history.
As they walked through the busy streets, Priya led the way, pointing out notable landmarks. "The capital is divided into several districts. The Merchant District is where you'll find anything for sale, from rare items to everyday necessities. The Guild District is where the Awakened warriors gather, and the Tower District is home to the most powerful organizations and government offices."
Aryan observed the city with keen interest. "Where is the gathering being held?"
"At the Grand Hall in the Tower District," Priya answered. "It's a place reserved for important meetings and announcements."
Rahul's eyes gleamed as they passed by weapon shops and armor smiths. "This place has everything we could ever need to get stronger."
"We'll explore later," Aryan said, keeping his focus. "First, we need to make an impression at the gathering."
As they approached the Tower District, the air grew tense with anticipation. The streets were less crowded, but the people they saw carried an aura of authority. Guards in polished armor patrolled the area, and the buildings were grander, with high walls and guarded gates.
At the entrance to the Grand Hall, a large group of Awakened warriors had gathered, all waiting for the doors to open. The trio received curious glances from the crowd, some recognizing them from their recent exploits.
A man with a commanding presence and a gleaming badge approached them. "Aryan Sharma and companions, correct?"
Aryan nodded. "That's us."
"I'm Captain Rajat of the City Guard," he introduced himself, extending his hand. "Your recent victory against the Goblin King has not gone unnoticed. The council is eager to meet you."
Aryan shook his hand, appreciating the recognition but remaining cautious. "We're here to learn and contribute."
Rajat smiled. "A wise approach. The gathering is a chance to form alliances, but it's also a place of competition. Be prepared for anything."
As the massive doors to the Grand Hall opened, the crowd moved inside. The hall was an architectural marvel, with high ceilings, ornate chandeliers, and banners representing different guilds and factions.
Inside, various groups had already formed, each discussing strategies, future dungeons, and potential alliances. The atmosphere was charged with energy, a mix of ambition and camaraderie.
Priya whispered to Aryan, "Stick to the plan. Observe, listen, and only engage when necessary."
Aryan nodded, his eyes scanning the room. "Let's find our place in this gathering. It's time to show them who we are."
