Chapter 9: Register
The guards opened the gates, allowing him to enter the compound, and upon doing so, he felt an energy surrounding his body, due to which his eyes narrowed.
"What is your business here?" One of the guards asked.
"I just came from the ceremony, I am here to register," He responded, as the guards exchanged glances and then nodded.
"This way," One of them added as he gestured for Nova to step forward, which he did, when he noticed, the direction the energy he felt around him was coming from.
It was coming from a device that was used for monitoring within the grounds of the headquarters, he could tell that it was scanning him for any weapons or if he was a potential threat and he did not protest.
Nova allowed it to do what it needed to, while the guards in the compound, kept a close eye on him as well as others that were entering, for most of them were there for the same purpose.
Within the compound, many securities and other things were used as precautions to prevent any dangerous situation. They did not face this often because many were afraid of them, and only the brave or the foolish would challenge them easily, knowing the consequences it may bring in the future.
"The scan is completed. You can continue forward; do not take any detours. Once you enter the building, the staff inside will lead you to your respective area, where you will meet someone regarding why you are here," One of the guards said to him, and he nodded.
Nova thanked them, then kept on moving forward, following the guard's instructions, since for now, he did not want any types of problems, given what he had seen earlier with the elderly man as well.
Inside, the headquarters was even more impressive. The walls were adorned with shimmering banners representing various orders as well as guilds around the nation. As people of all races and abilities moved around, some engaged in heated conversations, others concentrating on documents or magical displays, the air was alive with activity.
Nova looked around the air for a bit, then approached a woman sitting at a reception desk who had a sharp gaze and a commanding presence. "Name and class?" She asked without raising her gaze and his eyes narrowed.
"Nova Axilion. Necromancer Mage," He responded, sensing a twinge of tension in the air around them, as those in the vicinity heard him. Many turned around to look at him, and her ears perked upon hearing his answer.
The woman finally looked up at him, her gaze assessing as she fixed her glasses. "A necromancer, eh? Oh, one among the rare species these days. You will be watched closely."
"I am well aware of that, thank you," Nova said calmly, maintaining a courteous tone without displaying any signs of intimidation.
"Is that so? Then, that is good, at least you are aware of the path you are on, take this card, head to the third door on the right, and meet with mister Crevan, he will register you, evaluate and after which you will have to choose a path, meaning a job, studying or anything else, whatever it is you are allowed to do within the restrictions o your class, do you understand?" She asked.
"Yes, I understand, thank you," He responded and she nodded, after which she handed him the card and he took it, before following the direction she had given him, while many looked at him as he passed by, some curious while others wary.
Nova hardly paid them any mind, since he was used to getting those looks throughout his lifetime, though that did not mean that he enjoyed it, he just was not saying anything at the time, because he did not want problems, not before doing what he needed to.
After a few minutes, he arrived at the door she sent him to, he knocked on it three times, waiting to see if anyone would answer him, but instead, the door unlocked on its own and his brows furrowed in confusion.
He slowly and cautiously pushed the door open, as he stepped inside, his eyes widened a bit, the room was large, filled with many magical artifacts, as well as bookshelves, stretched across one part of the room.
There was a large maroon crystal shard in the middle, swirling with energy and many different names, making him wonder what it was.
"You are the one here to register?" A voice asked him and he turned around to see a tall man, with the ears of an elf, dressed like a noble with a book in his hand, fixing his spectacle, while his gaze was fixed on Nova.
"Uh... Yes, are you mister Crevan?" He asked and the man nodded as he closed his book and stepped forward, taking the card from Nova's grasp.
"A necromancer...." He mumbled as his eyes widened a bit, then he looked up at Nova with an assessing gaze.
"Your name seems familiar to me or maybe it is just because of the amount of people I have been dealing with lately," Crevan said and Nova's eyes narrowed, for he wondered if the previous owner knew Crevan or met him somehow.
He handed Nova a black and silver shard, which was imbued with an unfamiliar energy that was moving around it in a circular motion.
"Imbude it with some of your mana, as in your energy, then place it against the crystal," Crevan instructed.
Nova closed his eyes as his body began feeling light and some of his energy began flowing into the shard, which began glowing slightly, before floating out of his hand and attaching itself to the crystal ball in the center of the room, which reacted to it, giving off a small burst of energy.
Crevan glanced at it as a bunch of writing began swirling around in the center of the ball, while the shard was still glowing, changing colours at times, as it began recording his information.

Upon hearing that Nova's eyes narrowed, wondering what Erna just did, but he could not question it as yet.
"Congratualtions, you are officially registered," Crevan said to Nova, as the shard detached itself from the crystal, floating back into Nova's palm, and he clutched it.
