Essence of the Unlimited Potential IN GOD OF WAR 2018

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Little Trickster

Three years had passed since Eirik's unexpected arrival into the world. In that time, he had grown into a lively, mischievous child with a personality as boundless as his potential. He was a whirlwind of energy, always laughing, always playing, and always causing trouble. His antics had earned him a reputation as the family prankster, much to the exasperation of his mother, Faye, and the stoic indifference of his father, Kratos.

Eirik's personality was a curious blend of curiosity, mischief, and unshakable confidence. He reminded Faye of the tales she had heard of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King—a trickster who defied gods and demons alike with his wit and cunning. Eirik had the same spark in his eyes, the same love for chaos and laughter. But beneath the mischief was a sharp mind and a heart full of love for his family.

The forest around their home had become Eirik's playground. He would spend hours exploring, climbing trees, and hiding in the underbrush. But his favorite pastime was playing pranks on his family and the wildlife. He had a knack for disappearing when Kratos or Faye called for him, only to reappear in the most unexpected places.

One morning, Kratos woke to find his axe missing. He searched the cabin, growing more frustrated by the minute, only to find it hanging from a tree branch outside, wrapped in vines. Eirik sat on a nearby rock, giggling uncontrollably.

"Eirik," Kratos growled, his voice low and dangerous. "Return my axe."

Eirik grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "But Father, I thought you needed a challenge! You're always so serious. I just wanted to make you smile!"

Kratos stared at him, his expression unreadable. Then, to Eirik's surprise, the corner of Kratos' mouth twitched—almost like a smile. It was gone in an instant, but Eirik counted it as a victory.

Eirik's love for hiding extended beyond pranks. He had a particular talent for evading Faye's watchful eye, especially when it came to chores or lessons. Faye had begun teaching Atreus and Eirik the runes and the history of their world, but Eirik often found ways to slip away.

One afternoon, Faye called for the boys to join her for a lesson. Atreus came running, eager as always, but Eirik was nowhere to be found.

"Eirik!" Faye called, her voice firm. "Come here at once!"

Silence.

Faye sighed, shaking her head. She knew exactly where he was. She walked to the edge of the forest and called out, "Eirik, if you don't come out right now, there will be no dessert tonight!"

A rustling sound came from the bushes, and Eirik emerged, his face a picture of innocence. "I was just... exploring, Mother. I didn't hear you call."

Faye raised an eyebrow. "Exploring, were you? And what, pray tell, did you find?"

Eirik grinned. "A squirrel. It was very... educational."

Faye couldn't help but laugh. Despite his antics, Eirik had a way of making even the most frustrating situations amusing. She ruffled his hair and said, "Come on, little trickster. It's time for your lesson."

Atreus adored his twin brother, even if Eirik's pranks sometimes drove him crazy. The two were inseparable, exploring the forest together and dreaming of the adventures they would have one day. Atreus was the more serious of the two, always eager to learn and prove himself, while Eirik was the wildcard, always pushing boundaries and challenging authority.

One evening, as they sat by the fire, Atreus asked, "Eirik, why do you always hide from Mother and Father? Don't you want to learn the runes and the stories?"

Eirik shrugged, his grin never fading. "I do learn, brother. I just like to have fun while doing it. Life's too short to be serious all the time. Besides, don't you think Father could use a little more laughter in his life?"

Atreus thought about it for a moment, then smiled. "Maybe you're right. But don't push him too far. You know how he gets."

Eirik laughed. "Oh, I know. But that's what makes it fun!"

Later that night, Faye sat with Eirik by the fire, her hand resting on his shoulder. "Eirik," she said softly, "you have a gift for bringing joy to those around you. But remember, there is a time for laughter and a time for seriousness. The world can be a dangerous place, and you must be prepared."

Eirik looked up at her, his expression uncharacteristically solemn. "I know, Mother. But I also believe that laughter can be a weapon. It can lift spirits, break tension, and even confuse our enemies. I want to be strong, like Father, but I also want to be... me."

Faye smiled, her heart swelling with pride. "You are already strong, Eirik. And you are exactly who you are meant to be. Just promise me one thing."

"What's that?"

"Promise me you'll never lose that spark. The world needs more light, and you have a way of bringing it wherever you go."

Eirik grinned, his mischievous spark returning. "I promise, Mother. But I can't promise I'll stop hiding from you."

Faye laughed, pulling him into a hug. "I wouldn't expect anything less, my little trickster."
