Chapter 14: Western Tower [2]
The demi-humans surrounded her, their powerful bodies easily propelling them at immense speeds even though at least half of them were on the brink of starvation.
Even children brandished small blades at her and the Angels, and yet the Angels did not react.
Despite adult demihumans being faster she was able to see them as if they were merely walking.
'Cedric's blessing I'm sure of it...' She smiled as she stood ready.
"What are you smiling at bitch? I will make sure you never smile again once I'm done with you!" A man with tattered wings shouted as the group charged at the Angels.
SPLAT- SPLAT - SPLAT
The first demihumans that approached were splattered, their bodies crushed under the impossible weight of the Angel's mace.
"Directive: Protect Aurelia. Objective: End the Demonic Threat. Priority: Urgent." The Guardian Angels spoke in unison, and their forms shone as bright as the sun while swinging their maces, easily dispatching any bandit that approached.
These people were not warriors, they were mere bandits. And yet Aurelia felt some remorse as Angels pummeled them into red paste.
As a dozen or so demi-humans were splattered, they started to panic. Some wanted to flee but were stopped by the man.
"Stop you worthless gnats, Attack them all at once! If you run away I will kill you myself." In his hand, a magical blade appeared, black as night, and rings of purple surrounded the blade.
He knew he made a mistake, when he was informed of a group of some rich assholes passing through their territory he was ecstatic, and yet his men couldn't even scratch them.
He had hoped he wouldn't need to fight and get his hands dirty but it might be necessary.
He leaned forward before charging with immense speed toward Archangel, his blade glowing menacingly.
While his ruined wings robbed him of his flight, They did nothing except make him train his muscles to the absolute limit of his body.
While not near the level of Champions, he was strong enough to climb up the tanks and be considered second strongest in his gang, only behind the 'Boss' himself.
"I am Thaniel, the second in command of Barony of Rags! By my command, you will die!" He shouted as his blade struck the archangel, its blade ripping the flesh of the motionless being.
Or at least that was supposed to happen, instead of the blade ripping the flesh and hitting the heart as it always had, it shattered on impact.
Archangel stood there unscathed, but instead of being motionless, it grabbed Thaniel with the force and speed of a dragon, not leaving a moment for the man to realize what just happened.
"URGHH..." Thaniel gasped for air as the angel choked him, its grip tightening around the neck.
"Threat, Danger to VIP, Eradicate," Angel spoke in a robotic tone as the neck of Thaniel was crushed in Angel's grip.
Aurelia was horrified, these angels were powerful and terrifying, even with her buffed power level she couldn't follow Archangel's speed.
And she wasn't the only one who was terrified, the gang without their leader was gonna disperse at any moment.
After all, in almost all cases gangs consisted of forced members and children for the most part.
And this one seems to be no different, A boss with a lot of unfortunate grunts and even more unfortunate children roped into service.
Aurelia did not want to kill them, she hoped they would run away, but she had a feeling that Angels would not let them go.
"Don't kill them, please!" Aurelia pleaded with the Archangel.
"Honored VIP, They are enemy, They are Threats." Archangel stopped, returning to its almost robotic-like motionless stance as it spoke.
"I know but I would feel horrible about killing children!" Aurelia shouted.
Fortunately, the Angels seemed to listen to her as Cedric promised.
"You need to run away! Your leader is dead. I will let you live." Aurelia demanded.
Just as the remaining gang started to retreat a voice washed over the battlefield.
"Retreat is not allowed, You are members of Barony of Rags are you not?" An unknown voice questioned.
A massive demihuman approached, wearing lavish clothing fit for a king and golden jewelry decorating his whole body, his fingers decorated by a number of gold and silver rings.
'Well shit...' Aurelia gulped. This demihuman was at least 3 times the size of Cedric and he gave off such an oppressive aura that it threatened to suffocate her.
The gang spread apart, letting a massive humanoid step through, It was a variation of the Minotaur, instead of Bull's head it had a head more similar to that of a ram, with horns to match.
"Ah, so you are the ones who made so much noise in this place?" The demihuman crossed his arms as he spoke casually, almost like he did not care what happened to his gang members.
Aurelia gripped her blade, Angels standing still as statues as they awaited the directive to be activated once again.
With a sigh, she prepared to face the Giant demihuman.
Angels would surely make a short work of him especially if they worked together, but she needed to fight on her own if she was to prove herself a worthy wife of a great hero.
"Angels, Stand back. Only Assist if my life is in danger." Aurelia spoke softly.
She knew their directives could not be broken as they were summoned creatures despite being able to speak.
But as they were commanded to protect her the slight change in their directive should be viable.
"Directive change within acceptable parameters, affirmative. Angel units shall stand down until VIP's life is in danger."
Aurelia smirked, 'Cedric most likely wouldn't have liked his directive being changed, but I'm sure he would understand.'
"What are you blabbering about, I will crush you like I did all who stood before Barony of Rags!" The Minotaur spoke as he tore off his clothes, revealing himself as a brawler, body brimming with muscles and his rings acting as brass knuckles.
"Members of barony, stand down. I will deal with this little girl myself!" He shouted an order towards the gang.
"The only person I want to see do that with their clothes is not here right now. I will surely beat you quickly!" Aurelia smiled as she gripped her blade, she had confidence despite the difference in size and oppressive aura.
With a shattering warcry, Minotaur charged towards Aurelia.
