Chapter 2558: Mobile Games Sure Have Changed

-----

As the formation was almost done, Frank glanced at the very last ingredient, the [Invisible Paper Charm Of Bloodlines x10 Pack (D Grade)]. They were ten paper charms connected to the bloodlines of the original wielder, which would protect anybody that shared bloodlines with them, or that were engaged with them or someone with their bloodline, as long as an invisible paper charm was placed on one of their belongings.

The belongings didn't even have to be used or wore, they could be placed on old shoes or even a bed, everything would work just fine. Once activated, they would turn invisible, so they were easy to hide from even other magicians.

"This charm should protect my family from danger… And as long as I combine it with this Formation for more power…"

Mark quickly moved back inside the house, going upstairs. He placed one charm beneath his bed, and then three other charms beneath the bed of his sister and the bed of his parents.

There were six more left, so he reinforced the charm by placing more in the same place, multiplying their power and effects.

"And the last one… There."

He placed the last charm in the Array Core itself, connecting its powers to the charms, and therefore to everyone protected by them.

"Hell yeah, it worked!"

Frank felt accomplished and fulfilled the moment he realized his plan actually and truly worked. The charms which would protect someone with a mildly fine barrier were now enhanced, made ten times as strong, if not more.

"This should even protect them if a damn Oni shows up and begins smacking them with a giant club…" Frank nodded. "And because it is connected to the Mana Bank of the Array, which is also connected to my own Mana Pool, I can supply Mana constantly as long as I drink Potions or something, and so I can keep their barriers strong."

Once he was finally done, Frank sighed in relief, sitting down over his bed and smiling, stretching his arms and legs.

He finally did something his "past self" should have done a while ago, to stop such a terrible tragedy from ever happening…

"FRANK?! Where are you son? You have to go to school!"

His mother started yelling at him, as Frank quickly realized he had wasted like twenty minutes doing all of this.

"Ah shit, I'll go late!"

He quickly ran downstairs, grabbing his backpack and running out of the house with his sister, who was still waiting for him.

"What were you doing? Did get you indigestion?" She asked.

"Uuh, yeah, kind of…!" Frank nodded nervously. "Let's go! Hurry!"

"I can't run so quickly Frank!" his sister complained.

"Ah, let me carry you then!" Frank said.

"Carry me? You don't even have enough strength for- Uwaah?!"

Kamei learned that her brother was much stronger than she thought in that moment, as Frank princess carried her at high speed through the streets.

"F-Frank?! Since when you became so quick- Uwaaaahh!"

Kamei cried, covering her skirt that was beginning to lift a bit due to the air pressure hitting her body, startled people in the streets glanced in awe as the young student ran to the train station, barely in time for the train.

People ran inside the train, as he jumped off the stairs and then rushed inside, jumping and barely making it.

"Phew…! We barely made it- Agh!"

However, Kamei started hitting his head while angrily pouting, she was as red as a tomato.

"Let me go already, baka nii-chan! You're such an idiot! Why did you do that?! Idiot! Dummy! Bakaaaaa!"

"I-I'm sorry Kamei!"

Frank quickly let her stand up, as the people on the train looked at the siblings who were making a slight fuss.

Growing embarrassed, the two quickly became quiet.

"Since when can you run that fast? I had no idea you were an athlete?" She asked in a low tone of voice.

"I-I'm not… I just been trying to… Well, I've been hitting the gym and exercising over my friend's house," Frank explained.

"Really?! Wow…" Kamei was surprised. "Well I guess it worked, because you've become insanely fast and strong in just a few weeks?"

"I-I guess I did huh? Hahah…" Frank laughed nervously as he scratched his head, trying to act clueless. "Well the good thing is that we got in time… Or else we would have to wait like ten or twenty more minutes for the train."

"I guess so…" Kamei groaned, as she began checking her phone. "Unbelievable… Don't do that again, ok?"

As she asked him that, Frank noticed she was already playing that game again, the handsome young men of the game greeted her happily, they were her party members.

She moved her fingers almost as if she knew exactly where to go without even looking, clicking the log-in bonus gift thingy at the corner, the going to the free daily summon and getting…

"Ah damn it, I got a lame guy again?"

It wasn't a handsome man at all the one that emerged from the summoning circle, but a fat, dumb-looking young Japanese man with white glasses and common clothes.

["Uuuh, w-where am I? What happened?! Someone help me!"]

That was all the character's dialogue, which Frank found kind of weird.

"What is that guy? A character?"

"He's just a useless character, you get these all the time, they usually look like lame guys that aren't handsome at all."

Frank was kind of surprised such useless character would be given full voice acting and that they sounded so genuinely terrified.

Then again, Japanese Voice Actors were just on another whole level, and usually they were amazing at their work.

But then, why would the game devs waste money voice useless characters that nobody used anyway?

"And… what do you do with that character? Do you throw them away or sacrifice them to make another stronger?"

Frank used to play the old school Gacha games from the early 2010's, but the Gacha games nowadays were a bit different, so he asked.

"Yeah I sacrifice him for Mana Dust, if I gather ten, I can create a Mana Stone I can use to summon again," she smiled, as she moved the guy while he screamed and turned him into dust in another facility.

["Uuagh! Someone help me! Please!"]

POOF!

"Huh… That was unnecessarily graphic…"
