Enigma of Sin

Chapter 74: Fascination

Chapter 74: Fascination

After coming to an agreement, Yvaris Earthborn showed Kayn to an empty room where he could stay with his sister. However, before taking any rest, Kayn asked if he could use the kitchen in order to prepare some food for Lara.

Yvaris agreed without hesitation and even offered for Kayn to use any ingredients he had laying around for whatever he needed to prepare. Kayn marveled at all of the different things he could use to cook, but his sister's food was supposed to be somewhat plain and he didn't want to add too much to it.

After waking his sister up to feed her and playing with her for a little while, he went to sleep as he had fortunately completely relaxed after feeling absolutely safe for the first time in a while.

The next day, Kayn fed his sister breakfast before providing her entertainment with light holograms and other toys he pulled out of his bag. Yvaris sat on a chair in front of Kayn before allowing Kayn to use his diagnostic spell on him.

Kayn's eyes opened wide at what the spell was showing him, but firmly spoke to Yvaris and mentioned that it would probably take him a day or two or just examining his body to determine where the problem lay.

Unfortunately for Yvaris, he wasn't able to garner much from just Kayn's diagnostic spell. As a strict earth magic mage, he had never felt the need to develop anything to examine his or other bodies, nor was the earth element really able to, at least to his knowledge.

Once the second day began, he realized he was far more interested in the entertainment that Kayn was providing Lara, and instead of sitting and trying to understand what Kayn was doing, he decided to watch the entertainment that he provided to Lara and examine that. He had never seen light magic be used in that fashion before, so he quickly became engrossed in how it all worked.

The second day quickly passed by. Yvaris completely lost interest in what Kayn was doing by the end of the day and started to play with Lara.

On the third day, Kayn finally finished creating an extremely detailed image of Yvaris in his head that he could mimic with his hologram spell. When he cast it to bring up the inside workings of Yvaris, the person in question finally started to display interest with what Kayn was doing once again.

Three more days passed as Kayn removed and added different pieces and parts of the hologram. He eventually found what he thought to be the root of the problem, but now came the tough part, how to fix the issue.

Kayn discovered that the reason for Yvaris Earthborn's seemingly slow evolution speed was because of scar tissue per se. Rather than being fleshly scar tissue, when his core was almost shattered, it gained a malformation further spreading to his mana system.

When his mana core hardened again and sealed the cracks, it also formed solidified mana similar to the core itself around the junctions that spread out into his system. But rather than blocking the exit of his mana, it blocked entry.

He could use his mana just fine as once it became his own as it would pass through the core material just fine, but it was difficult to absorb the outside mana which was a natural process for all beings that contained a core.

Kayn had four more days until the deadline was up. From this point on he would be working in both the air in front of him and inside his head.

He still hadn't come up with a name for his holographic spell that he would work on in the air, but it was essentially just a simulation spell. Thus, he decided on Simcraft to honor all the time he spent running simulations during his life on Earth to optimize his gaming experiences.

Yvaris was greatly intrigued by Kayn's Simcraft spell. He had seen holographic display spells before, but he had never seen one that could be interacted with. In front of his eyes, Kayn was removing and adding different details as well as simulating how different spells would interact with his body, it was quite fascinating.

Yvaris tried to interact with the Simcraft spell, but his hand just passed through it. Kayn explained that it was only possible for him to interact with it because it required his mana to move bits and pieces around. That didn't stop Yvaris from trying to use his own mana on it, though he frowned as it still didn't succeed.

Kayn had to answer many questions as Yvaris was very curious about the Simcraft spell. He never knew that light magic could be used in this way. Even Kayn's utilization of light magic to put on entertainment for his sister in the form of moving characters was new to him.

The week time limit was reached, but Yvaris didn't say anything and Kayn just kept working. Clearly the old dragon was curious what kind of a solution Kayn would come up with. After the countless trials he had run already, he was getting infinitely closer to a solution.

On the 15th day of his research, Kayn finally came up with a solution that was viable to help out Yvaris. Kayn honestly even thought it might help even more than just healing his problem. Now he had to explain what he could do for Yvaris to the man himself.

"Elder Earthborn, I have come up with a solution to heal you. Just know that because you are much stronger than me, the process will be a bit slow, I'm talking a least a week of the same thing at a minimum. Also, it won't be painless, but I can't give you an exact answer on what you will feel. Are you willing to take the risk?" Kayn asked as straight forwardly as he could.

"Pain doesn't matter to an old dragon like me, what I care about is whether there is a chance you kill me or not? I'm assuming you'll be injecting your mana straight into my body, so that can lead to mana poisoning really quick. How confident are you in success? Because I would rather not go through a process I don't understand if I can continue evolving without it."

Kayn didn't have to think long before responding, "I can promise you that I will succeed without a doubt, the only issue is the time it will take and the pain you may or may not experience, but nothing I have planned or simulated could lead to your death. Your core system is severely congested with solidified mana, which is causing your problems.

"My treatment will work to dissolve and remove all of the old and malformed core material. The reason people haven't succeeded in the past is that none of them had the ability to manipulate pure mana nor could they infuse the void element into other elements. It will work." Kayn confidently replied.

"You seem to have high confidence in yourself. Fine, start as far away from my core as possible to give me a hint of what will happen so I can gauge if I want to continue with your treatment process or not."

Kayn frowned a little bit since all of his successful simulations started near and around his mana core and working outward from it, but he should be able to give Yvaris Earthborn a taste of what it was like before he started officially.

The next day, the treatment began and Yvaris was not happy. He was convinced that it might actually work and it wouldn't harm his overall life, but he was experiencing more pain than he ever had in his life, even worse than when he received his initial injury.

Kayn was essentially making small slices inside of Yvaris's core system with pure mana and then destroying and removing solid pieces with a combination of the void and dark elements in conjunction with pure mana.

The only issue was with how painful and difficult it was for him to remove the scarred and solidified core tissue. It had formed over almost a million years and was mainly formed from Yvaris's stage 5 and 6 mana.

Kayn worked tirelessly with only minimal breaks to take care of Lara for the next week and a half. He and Yvaris had resorted to having Yvaris drink a sedative tonic before they began and whenever he started waking up due to the pain that he felt becoming too extreme.

Yvaris even cast earth magic in order to restrain himself in the case he subconsciously tried to protect himself.

As Kayn destroyed the last of the remaining scar tissue around and on Yvaris's mana core, the old dragon suddenly opened his eyes wide and let loose a roar that shattered Kayn's eardrums. Luckily, Lara was in a different part of the house in a room isolated from sound with magic.

As Kayn took his hands to his ears to start healing them, he watched as Yvaris Earthborn stood up and closed his eyes as he took in a deep breath. "Finally! I can finally move on from this realm!"
