Chapter 33 Sun Moon Mountain Range 17
“Help… Help…”
Just as the atmosphere took on an eerie tone, a cry for help pierced the silence.
Baili Qing turned his gaze toward the source of the plea and saw one of his guards stumbling backward with a distressed expression.
Upon witnessing the guard’s demeanor, an anger surged within Baili Qing, prompting him to kick the man and demand, “Why are you in such a state?” The guard had been kicked but remained silent.
However, when the man attempted to speak, no sound emerged from his mouth. The bystanders could only witness his futile efforts to articulate words.
The man, sensing something amiss, suddenly remembered the elixir Yemo had given him. Realizing this, he urgently began to write on the ground with his hands.
He etched the name “Yemo” before blood began to flow from his mouth, nose, and ears. Finally, he collapsed to the ground.
The sudden fall of the guard left everyone in a state of shock. Baili Qing, who had been closest to the guard, appeared visibly startled.
“Ye Mo?” Baili Yan arched an eyebrow, noting the two words the guard had written before his demise. He then turned his gaze to Baili Qing and inquired, “Is the ‘Ye Mo’ he wrote referring to a direct descendant of the Ye family?”
Ye Yan had initially intended to ask if this referred to that “trash.” However, taking into consideration the presence of Yeyan, she substituted the term with “Miss Direct Line.”
Indeed, upon hearing the words “Miss Direct Line,” Yeyan’s expression soured slightly. Regardless of her remarkable qualities, in the eyes of outsiders, Yeyan remained a concubine’s daughter.
Before Yeyan could respond, Baili Yan continued his inquiry, “Why would your guard write ‘Yemo’s’ name?”
Baili Qing maintained his silence. Revealing that the reason for his guard’s actions was that he had dispatched them, along with an elder, to teach Yeyan a lesson was utterly out of the question.
Elder? Where was the elder?
“Your Highness, I will go and investigate,” another elder declared as he observed the man lying on the ground, his suspicion already providing an answer.
“I will accompany you,” Baili Qing promptly volunteered. He had no desire to remain here and face his brothers in this situation.
Observing Baili Qing and his group swiftly departing, Baili Yan crossed his arms and remarked to Baili Rui, “It appears there’s something intriguing happening. Shall we follow them and see what transpires?”
Baili Rui cast his eyes downward and glanced at the haphazardly scrawled words “Ye Mo” on the ground. The disarray in the guard’s writing indicated his immense fear.
Yemo, the supposed worthless daughter of the General’s Mansion—how could a seven-year-old child inspire such dread in a seven-star mid-level magician?
Indeed, his fourth brother was correct; this was indeed an intriguing development.
With this realization, Baili Rui nodded and replied, “Let’s follow them and investigate.”
“I was waiting for your words, Third Brother,” Baili Yan responded with a wide grin before swiftly following suit.
Seeing both of them depart, Liu Ruxin found herself unable to remain alone in this situation.
Baili Rui and his group moved at a brisk pace, arriving ahead of the others. Upon seeing the lifeless body on the ground, they were all momentarily paralyzed by the sight.
