Eclipse Requiem

Chapter 17: Clash of Titans

A deafening silence filled the chamber as Kael and Veydris stood across from each other, their auras **pulsing like opposing storms.**

Veydris's silver chains had shattered, releasing an **overwhelming force** unlike anything Kael had felt before. The once-composed Inquisitor now radiated an **untamed energy**, his violet eyes gleaming with something new—something **deadly.**

Kael's own power crackled around him, the **black flames of the Abyssforged Blade flowing effortlessly** around his body. He had finally broken his own chains, yet the battle had only just begun.

For a moment, neither warrior moved.

Then—

**BOOM.**

They **vanished.**

The air **split apart** as Kael and Veydris collided in the center of the chamber, their blades **clashing with earth-shattering force.**

A shockwave **tore through the battlefield**, reducing the stone beneath them to dust. The walls cracked, and the very air **hummed** with the sheer pressure of their power.

Kael gritted his teeth, his arms trembling as he pushed against Veydris's sword.

But Veydris was **relentless**.

He twisted, forcing Kael's blade aside before launching a **lightning-fast counterattack.**

Kael barely managed to dodge as the greatsword **tore through the air**, slicing clean through a nearby stone pillar like it was **paper.**

*"He's faster now!"*

Kael **lunged forward**, striking low.

Veydris **sidestepped effortlessly**, twisting his body mid-air before bringing his sword **down like a meteor.**

Kael **raised his blade just in time.**

**CRASH!**

The impact **sent him flying**, his back slamming into the far wall.

Dust and debris filled the air.

Kael **coughed**, shaking off the pain as he pushed himself up. But before he could fully recover—

Veydris was already in front of him.

**Too fast.**

Kael barely had time to raise his sword as Veydris **drove his knee into his gut.**

The breath **ripped from Kael's lungs**, his vision momentarily **whiting out** from the sheer force.

But he **refused to fall.**

With a snarl, Kael twisted his body, **slashing upward.**

Veydris leaned back, avoiding a fatal blow—but Kael's blade **caught his shoulder**, black flames **searing through his armor.**

The Inquisitor **hissed**, but instead of retreating, he **pressed forward.**

He grabbed Kael by the throat and **threw him across the chamber.**

Kael's body **skidded across the ground**, his hands digging into the stone to slow himself.

He panted, wiping blood from his lips.

*"Damn it… he's stronger than before."*

Veydris rolled his shoulders, his aura **flaring.**

"You're adapting," he admitted. "But it's not enough."

Kael's grip tightened on his sword.

*"He's pushing me harder than ever… but that just means I have to push back harder."*

He took a deep breath.

Then, Kael **closed his eyes.**

And when he opened them again—

**His black flames exploded outward.**

The Abyssforged Blade **shifted**, the energy within it growing denser, heavier. The flames around Kael's body **darkened**, shifting into something deeper—something **beyond normal fire.**

Veydris's eyes narrowed. "Interesting…"

Kael exhaled. "Let's see if this is enough."

Then—he **vanished again.**

Veydris lifted his sword to block, but Kael **wasn't there.**

A **blur of black flames** appeared at his side—

And **Kael struck.**

The Abyssforged Blade **slammed into Veydris's greatsword**, the impact **rippling through the chamber.**

But this time—

Veydris **staggered.**

Kael **pressed forward**, moving faster than ever before.

A strike to the left—**blocked.**

A downward slash—**dodged.**

A rapid twist—**parried.**

But then—

Kael **faked a step back**—

And **drove his knee into Veydris's ribs.**

**CRACK.**

Veydris's body **lurched to the side**, his breath escaping in a sharp gasp.

Kael didn't let up.

He pivoted, bringing his sword **down like a guillotine.**

Veydris **raised his arm to block—**

And Kael's blade **sliced straight through his gauntlet.**

**Blood sprayed across the floor.**

Veydris leapt back, his exposed forearm **burning with black fire.**

For the first time in the battle—

He looked **shocked.**

Kael exhaled, rolling his shoulders. "Not so invincible now, are you?"

Veydris stared at him for a moment.

Then, slowly—

He **smirked.**

"Good."

Kael's breath hitched.

*"What…?"*

Veydris lifted his greatsword again, his aura **blazing even brighter.**

And Kael realized—

**Veydris had been holding back, too.**

A wave of silver energy erupted from the Inquisitor's body, **crushing the air between them.**

Kael braced himself as the raw power **threatened to consume him.**

This battle wasn't just a test anymore.

It was about **who would survive.**

Kael tightened his grip on the Abyssforged Blade.

This was it.

No more limits.

No more chains.

It was time to **end this.**
