Eclipse of the Heart: The Alpha’s Forbidden Mate

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Finding Dust

The already injured beasts couldn't withstand this continuous attack, so within a joss stick's time (about an hour), the entire world fell silent, leaving only heavy breathing and the nauseating smell of blood.

Li Ge trembled and looked down. Except for the leading tiger, the remaining hundred or so had been torn to shreds by the wolf pack. The ground was littered with broken limbs and fragments, and some limbs were still twitching in the deep grass.

"Ugh…" Li Ge couldn't control herself anymore and hugged a tree trunk, vomiting violently.

Awooo…

The wolf pack didn't know there was still a living person in the tree and stared intently at the tree where Li Ge was squatting. Thousands of green eyes were fixed on her, and there was still no disappearing ruthlessness in those eyes. Li Ge's feet instantly turned cold.

Awooo…

The wolf pack, hearing the warning in the wolf king's howl, looked at each other and slowly made way. The wolf king scanned the newly recruited subordinates with pride and then looked at Li Ge, who didn't know where to put her hands.

Having spent a few days together, Li Ge still understood what was in its eyes. She swallowed her saliva, closed her eyes, and quickly climbed down the tree. Forget it, if she couldn't escape, even if she climbed to the top of the tree, she would be bitten to death. Li Ge comforted herself.

Li Ge stood at the foot of the tree, walked past the wolf pack, and looked at the newly appointed wolf king with a smile in his eyes.

This man and wolf's 'deep gaze' gradually calmed down the restless wolf pack. But there was another reason for their silence: the human had the scent of the wolf king. This person must have an extraordinary relationship with the wolf king they had been searching for for years.

Since the wolf king was safe, the thousands of wolves each carried a piece of tiger meat and slowly retreated like a tide.

Finally, as the morning mist rose, Li Ge eagerly watched Ling Mo begin to transform. When the light around him disappeared, Li Ge helped the panting Ling Mo up.

Last night's leading tiger was indeed powerful. If it hadn't been for her agile body, she would have had her throat bitten when it attacked the first time. Ling Mo touched the already scabbed tooth mark on the back of his neck and breathed a sigh of relief when he confirmed there would be no infection. Now was a critical time, and he couldn't be ill.

If he guessed correctly, last night's earth-shattering battle must have alerted the people of the 'Dust' tribe deep in the forest. They would be more active than usual today, after all, judging by the noise last night, if they came out today, they would definitely have a rich harvest.

Ling Mo took Li Ge's hand, and the spirit mink reluctantly followed behind them, heading towards a place with water. Although Ling Mo had never been to such a wild forest, he still knew the basics. The 'Dust' tribe must live near a water source, of course, that small lake they encountered a few days ago didn't count.

It was almost noon, and the mist gradually dissipated, but Ling Mo and Li Ge could still smell the faint scent of decaying plants and animals. This reminded Li Ge of everything that had happened last night. Her face paled, and although she hadn't eaten much this morning, she still felt uncomfortable in her stomach. Ling Mo, who had been observing the surroundings, glanced at her and silently walked over, placing his cool hand on her abdomen and gently rubbing it.

"How did you know to go in this direction?" Li Ge felt comfortable and couldn't help but moan, while still remembering the purpose of their trip.

Hearing Li Ge's question, Ling Mo fell silent and suddenly looked at her strangely, hesitantly asking, "Do you really want to know?"

Seeing Ling Mo's strangeness, although she thought it was better not to ask, her mouth ran ahead of her thoughts and blurted out, "Of course."

"It was the leading tiger who told me." Ling Mo said calmly.

Since he had been poisoned, he had been able to strangely understand the words of beasts when he transformed into a wolf. This was probably the only benefit of being poisoned.

"Ugh…" Ling Mo's nonchalant words brought back her memories of last night. Li Ge finally couldn't hold it in and pushed Ling Mo away, running to the grass beside her and vomiting out the acidic water that had been churning in her stomach for a long time.

After a sigh of relief, she finally felt much better. Li Ge blinked away the tears in her eyes and was about to turn around when she accidentally swept her gaze over something strange.

"What is this?" Li Ge walked towards the strange thing and muttered to herself.

Ling Mo had just been about to see how she was doing when he heard Li Ge's words and looked in her direction. Although he had never seen this object before, he instinctively knew it wasn't an ordinary thing. So, when Li Ge's hand was about to pick it up, Ling Mo shouted, "Stop!"

Hearing Ling Mo's voice, Li Ge reflexively retracted her hand.

She looked at Ling Mo, who was walking over quickly, and asked puzzledly, "What is it? Why can't I touch it?"

Ling Mo didn't answer Li Ge's question but stared directly at the object in the grass. It was a square object made of copper, with a strange pattern on it. Looking closely, the pattern looked like a running wolf, but its eyes were blood red, making people unconsciously sink into it, yet also feel a creepy sensation. The copper plaque emitted a faint green glow under the sunlight filtering through the leaves.

Seeing the copper plaque, Ling Mo's heart stirred with a strange feeling, as if some answer was on the verge of emerging. But when he tried to identify that feeling, his mind became a mess.

Seeing Ling Mo's constantly changing face, Li Ge called out to the spirit mink, who was happily munching on a wild fruit nearby, "Xiao Hei, come here."

Ling Mo raised his head and his eyes cleared. He knew what she meant. The spirit mink was immune to all poisons and could also identify whether something was poisonous.

Hearing his owner's call, the spirit mink reluctantly dropped the half-eaten wild fruit, pouted its mouth, and ran over.

When it saw the copper plaque in the grass, its eyes lit up. It was a look Li Ge had never seen before, full of surprise and greed. Before Li Ge could speak, the spirit mink jumped onto the plaque and its small tongue hesitantly stretched out, quickly licking it, as if it had encountered its favorite food, but was reluctant to eat it all at once. Its tongue hovered above the plaque and then reluctantly retracted.

Seeing the spirit mink's greedy appearance, Li Ge laughed, but she didn't forget the purpose of calling it over. Li Ge asked, "Xiao Hei, is it poisonous?"

The spirit mink's bright little eyes flashed, and it quickly nodded.

"Xiao Hei, I didn't expect your toxicity to come from this," Li Ge looked at the spirit mink and raised an eyebrow.

She had rescued the spirit mink three years ago. After it recovered, it refused to leave, and she had been with it ever since. She didn't know it had such a hobby.

"The spirit mink is very poisonous. It's a magical container. All kinds of poisonous substances are eaten and form a special poison in its body. But this poison is also an antidote to certain poisons." Ling Mo looked at the spirit mink's guilty expression and added maliciously, "And, it is said that the spirit mink must eat poisonous things every day, otherwise it will become irritable."
