Dying Is Not an Option—Tell That to My System!

Chapter 21: Chapter 21: The Spirit Rose Calls Me Father?

Chun He wiped the sweat from his brow as he finished tilling the last patch of soil in his small farmland village. The sun hung high, casting long shadows over his modest home. Big D, his dog, wagged his tail lazily beside him, his ears twitching at every rustle in the wind.

Ding!

[New Task: Harvest and Process Spiritual Wheat]

Description: The spiritual wheat in your field is ripe for harvest. Collect it and refine it into 'Vitality Flour' to enhance your physique. Reward: +1 Strength, +1 Stamina, +1 Low-Grade Spirit Stone. Exp: 10 per crop harvested.

Chun He's eyes flickered as he read the system notification. "Vitality Flour? That's new," he muttered, gripping his sickle.

For years, he had lived a simple life as a farmer, tending to his land and raising livestock. But ever since the flower demon arrived, his workload had mysteriously multiplied.

Filling holes with sand. Weeding out the weeds. Fixing villagers' roofs. Tilling their lands. Planting seeds. Bringing water from the well. Rolling goddamn boulders from the bottom of mountains to the top. Diving into rivers and catching fish with his bare hands. Going against the current, climbing mountains, sprinting like a damn hound.

Meanwhile, the village children, seeing Chun He drenched in sweat, took the chance to poke fun at him. "Uncle Chun, why do you work so hard when you could just be lazy like Big D?"

"Yeah! We bet you're hiding something under all that dirt!"

Big D barked, playing along, chasing the kids as they squealed and ran in circles.

But Chun He wasn't paying attention to them anymore.

Unbeknownst to him, a few young women had also started watching from behind the nearby trees and houses, their eyes occasionally peeking at him whenever he rolled up his sleeves.

The illusion of an average farmer had been shattered. His drenched shirt clung to his body, outlining every ridge and muscle like a sculpted statue. His broad shoulders were massive, his arms thick and veined, his chest and waist carved like a damn Greek god's. Even his legs were thick, powerful, and his hips—

A few of them swallowed hard, their faces heating up.

"I knew it! He's way bigger than he looks!"

"Why does he even wear those baggy clothes?! What a waste!"

"Tsk, he's been hiding it this whole time!"

Meanwhile, Chun He, oblivious to their stares, wiped the sweat from his brow and stretched his arms. He had more work to do, and if he wanted to get win the heart of the flower demon, there was no time for distractions.

After all, it was love at first sight.

He had become a busybody, all while trying to maintain the illusion of being a serious, responsible man. Meanwhile, the flower demon?

She was playing.

With Big F, his colossal fish.

At first, Big F had been an ordinary 10-meter-long fish, a massive creature with fiery red and yellow scales that shimmered like living flames in the water. Its tail would slice through the surface with effortless grace, a true king of the pond.

But ever since Chun He had thrown his Sun Stone into the water, everything had changed.

The pond had warmed, transforming into a natural hot spring, and the ecosystem shifted. The lotuses evolved into Fiery Sun Lotuses, their petals glowing with an inner heat.

And Big F... evolved.

Now, 15 meters long, its scales had toughened into armor-like plates, shining with a steely sheen. Its tail and fins had stretched, their edges laced with molten glow. Smoke occasionally curled from its nostrils, a clear sign of the potential within.

WHOOSH!

Big F twisted through the water, sending waves crashing against the pond's edge. The flower demon laughed, playfully splashing water toward the massive fish.

Chun He sighed, rubbing his temples. "My fish is turning into a beast of legend, my dog is spitting fireballs, and I'm still stuck weeding fields..."

Big D suddenly stiffened. His ears perked, gaze locked on the mist-covered edge of the pond.

Something was moving.

Chun He followed his gaze, gripping his sickle.

Then, movement.

A plant—no, a rose—had uprooted itself.

Apprise: Scarlet Heaven Rose

Age: 3000 years

Root: Immortal Spirit Root

Cultivation: Walking Root (Xíng Gēn Jìng)

Its deep crimson petals fluttered like flames. Its thorn-covered vines writhed like living snakes. With slow, baby steps, the rose spirit walked toward the flower demon.

It had gained intelligence.

And its gaze was locked onto her.

Then—

She called the flower demon mother and looked at Chun He and called father.

Chun He was sweating. The flower demon was speechless, Big D lunged at him full speed and tackled him.

It was total confusion.

Did I just become a father without knowing?
